'If anyone is lying, it is you':
Fauci tears into GOP Senator Rand Paul

gain-of-function research at the Wuhan
lab and implying NIH funding led to

Anthony Fauci lashed out at Rand Paul on Tuesday during a Senate hearing as he accused the Kentucky Republican of being a 'liar' who 'doesn't know what you're talking about' when it comes to COVID origins. 'Dr. Fauci, knowing that it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement of May 11 where you claimed the NIH [National Institute of Health] never funded gain of function research in Wuhan?' Paul asked of the nation's top immunologist and Joe Biden's top COVID advisor. 'Senator Paul, I have never lied before the Congress and I do not retract that statement,' Fauci shot back

Comments:

The way things are going, Sen. Paul will be lucky not to be arrested as an enemy of the state. What a time to be an american.

This is a study in government research games. If Fauci had sent the 600,000 dollars directly to the Wuhan Lab, auditors would have gone to the lab to see how the money was spent. When, instead, Fauci sent the money to the non-profit, which forwarded the money to the Wuhan Lab, auditors would npot have gone to the Wuhan Lab. That shielded the money from audit. This kind of research supports, mostly, researcher salaries, and it takes honest researchers to properly report their hours and percentages.

As unpopular a theory as it may be, I honestly believe that President Trump was somewhat cowed by his impression of Fauci's superior knowledge on all things involving medical science, which may be why he kept Fauci in his position, allowing him to routinely contradict the president by trotting out to the media on a daily basis, an act of omission that may have cost the president re-election. I believe without the media and every living breathing democrat holding Trump responsible for COVID deaths, while lionizing Fauci, the democrats couldn't have cheated enough to scrape out a win for Biden. They would have had to generate more ballots than there are adults living in the US. Sen. Paul is under no such illusion regarding Fauci but to be called a liar while on duty in his place of work, not a bit much to tolerate from a lying China apologist and enemy of the United States.
