Philadelphia school officials are planning to consult with more air quality scientists after meeting Monday with an expert critical of the district’s $4.5 million purchase of NASA-originated air purifier technology. The expert, a Drexel professor, said the purifiers were ineffective at reducing the spread of coronavirus and had the potential to create harmful chemicals.(Snip)The devices have already been purchased and will be installed in every classroom by the end of July, a district spokesperson said. But following the School District’s announcement, several experts questioned the purifiers’ effectiveness and safety. They included Michael Waring—professor of indoor air quality and department head of civil, architectural, and environmental enginnering

Ineffective? Come on, man! Four and a half million taxpayer dollars tucked into somebody's pocket is effective indeed. You'd think people from crooked Philadelphia would have a better idea about how things work.

a tiny bit of "Context" would help perhaps, Philly has had 155,158 total cases 17,030 hospitalizations 3,763 Deaths ZERO of them have been School-age Kids. Clearly the $4.5 MILLION is NOT for the 202,000 Philly school kids benefit. The 9500 $475dollar/ea Air Cleaners will primarily just contribute to Global Warming though electrical usage. Current "New Cases" is 474, 11 deaths(over the last 2 weeks) (Quick, the Feds will write us a check for ANYTHING right now, BUY something!!!)

A virus is 1/millionth of an inch in dimension. I seriously doubt these purifiers can filter them out, but go ahead and spend the money for a false sense of security.

The Navy warned Congress today that it is quickly reaching the end of the line on divestments before cutting into capabilities needed for deterrence and war fighting. Lawmakers from the Senate Appropriations Defense subcommittee questioned both the Navy and the Air Force on their divestment decisions at a hearing as Congress continues to parse the proposed budget for 2022. “The challenge that we’re facing now is that the good ideas, the things that we don’t think we need to bring to the future fight, we’re starting to run out of that,” said Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources Vice Adm. As summer reaches peak heat, a recent piece in Time magazine on air conditioning exemplifies the rot pervading academia and threatening the nation. Eric Dean Wilson, an instructor and graduate student at City University of New York, wrote about how air conditioning will destroy the planet. His essay demonstrates the confluence of such intellectually fashionable ideas as environmentalist extremism, critical race theory, equity, and the condemnation of capitalism and “white supremacy.” Wilson has no training in climate science or mechanical engineering. Yet he teaches “climate-themed writing and environmental justice” at the City University of New York. Wilson describes his recent book
