Teachers of color win financial
support from Minnesota lawmakers

The state's newly enacted education funding bill includes a "historic investment" in efforts to boost the number of teachers of color in Minnesota, but there were missed opportunities, too, a chief advocate for the cause said Friday. "We're in a deep hole, and it's going to take decades to get out of this hole," said Paul Spies, legislative action team lead for the Coalition to Increase Teachers of Color and American Indian Teachers in Minnesota. A Star Tribune analysis has found that although about one-third of the state's kindergarten through 12th-grade students are nonwhite, teachers of color make up about 5%

Comments:

Segregation is bad, but keep them WHITE teachers out of Our schools. Minnesoder Gov. Tim agrees, raising the special racist fund to recruit Teachers of Color to around $13 million annually.

Furthering the lie that black kids can only learn from black teachers. If so, we might as well go back to fully segregated schools.

Increase the number of minority teachers? Then they'll have to lower academic standards. And the current standards in public schools are already pathetic. This policy will only manage to further hurt the students attending public schools.

MN was facing a decades long demographic collapse, with older folks dying off, or moving south when they retired, coupled with a trend towards fewer children...Taken in concert with higher "Social Benefits" spending they were going upside down economically. Their solution? "Foreign Imports", they intentionally became the largest destination for Refugees, not just directly, but also refugees initially settled in other states that then moved there. Somali, Burma,Ethiopia were prime drivers, along with the Hmong. Apparently they did not seek to import Refugee Teachers...Twin cities now has students speaking 178 languages. I guess I'm not fully fluent in "woke"; could someone please translate this statement? "about one-third of the state's kindergarten through 12th-grade students are nonwhite, teachers of color make up about 5% of full- and part-time teachers." So it says 2/3rd of the teachers are non-white, but teachers of color only make up 5% .... huh???????? Aren't, by definition, teachers of color + non-white teachers synonymous? And isn't it illegal to discriminate in hiring based on race?

I spent a few years in the northern reaches of Minnesota. The only Black American I saw during that time was the troubled kid who got sent up there to get him away from "bad influences" in MSP, and stabbed a fellow collegian to death at a picnic. So, no, I don't think that a State with nearly no Black citizens needs more Black teachers. Affirmative action is just another name for good racism, which is an oxymoron.
