Henry Winkler was caught in a Twitter controversy on Saturday after expressing the controversial opinion that it would take a cataclysmic event to unite a country divided by politics and social issues. The New York City native faced a hailstorm of criticism pointing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the September 11, 2001 attack, and other major events to rebut the Emmy-winning actor's point of view.

ews reports inform us that Covid cases are rising exponentially, particularly in the U.K., which has reportedly enjoyed the most successful vaccine rollout on record thus far, with about 85 percent of the population receiving a first dose and 62 percent receiving two. Yet no connection is made between a massive vaccination program intended to reduce or prevent the spread of infections and the fact that cases are said to be skyrocketing. The vaccines are extravagantly touted as reliable antitoxins; at the same time the disease apparently continues to surf from wave to wave and variant to variant. [snip] Cases are up, fatalities down,

“Black Lives Matter is not political, it’s basic human rights,” my coaching staff and teammates heading our new “Call to Action Committee” told me and the other team members after practice. They were responding to some of the concerns I had expressed prior to the team meeting. By the next game, while running out of the tunnel 10 of my 13 Davidson College teammates and all four of my coaches were wearing T-shirts with “Black Lives Matter” bannered across the front. When the national anthem played and with our U.S. Army veteran team doctor behind us, most of my team dropped to one knee in protest of America’s “institutional racism.”

A Black combat veteran celebrated the United States and the opportunities it gives to people in a Fox News Independence Day special, calling America "the best place on the planet" for others like him who choose to pursue opportunity. Fox News contributor Johnny Joey Jones sat down with fellow combat veterans; Frank Oakley, Julee Sanchez, Jacob Schick, and Jeff McDonald to share their stories of service and what Independence Day means to them. "For me, this is in fact over my lifetime, the land of opportunity," Oakley told Jones during a televised sit down. Is pride in America a thing of the past? Not if you ask Americans. As the nation celebrates its 245th birthday, the first in a series of I&I/TIPP polls finds that 68% of adults say they are “very” or “extremely” proud to be an American, with another 15% “moderately” proud. On the other end of the spectrum, only 6% say they “aren’t proud at all,” and 8% say they are only “slightly proud.” The results show that the concerted attempts by the left to describe the country as fundamentally racist, corrupt, unfair, and in need of a “transformation” have

The President of the United States has many responsibilities. An essential one is to make quick and decisive decisions when confronted with a major crisis. Past presidents have handled this responsibility. It seems questionable whether Biden can do the same. (snip) Since entering the White House, Biden’s mental decline has accelerated. Just in June, during the G7 Summit meeting, Biden repeatedly appeared confused in front of other world leaders. (snip) If there is any major crisis in the world, Biden will have to lead. He’ll likely repeat his handlers’ words but he will not inspire confidence.

Joe Biden, who famously threatened to shut down the Fourth of July, and all our backyard celebrations if we didn't get vaccinated in certain numbers by a certain date, now wants your selfies. Kid you not, he tweeted this: Folks, I couldn’t be happier or more proud to see Americans coming #BackTogether at BBQs and block parties across the country for Independence Day. Tag your 4th of July photos with #BackTogether and @WhiteHouse and you may get a signed copy of your 4th of July photo from me. Just ahead of Independence Day, Marvel Comics featured a new Captain America issue in which the Captain slams the American dream as a false promise. The first issue of the new series, “The United States of Captain America,” by writer Christopher Cantwell, was published on June 30, only four days before the country traditionally celebrates its day of independence from Great Britain. As the issue begins, Steve Rogers — the original Cap — grouses about how America is built on “lies.” “I’m loyal to nothing. Except the dream,” Rogers says early in the issue. “Here’s the thing about a dream, though. A dream isn’t real."

Eleven days after the Surfside building collapse, the remaining part of the building has been demolished over concerns the damaged structure was at risk of falling, endangering the crews below and preventing them from operating in some areas. The Champlain Towers South building went down at 10:30 p.m. A number of explosions could be heard and then the building started to fall, sending up massive plumes of dust into the air in the surrounding neighborhoods. The demolition was confined to the immediate area, and used gravity to bring the structure down in its place.
