As an unprecedented number of laws targeting LGBTQ youth made their way through state legislatures last year, a survey of the mental health of young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals in the U.S. revealed a shocking statistic. Just as with Africans in America, we're lectured without cease about how the problems within the group are caused by the rest of society not embracing and celebrating them enough.
