Members of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops are trying to clarify their position and deal with the confusion caused by their announcement last week that they would create a teaching document on the Holy Eucharist or the meaning of Communion. The statement caused many to speculate that the church was looking to deny President Joe Biden and other pro-abortion Catholic politicians from receiving Communion.
The speculation was misplaced, said the bishops.“There will be no national policy on withholding Communion from politicians,” the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said in a Q&A document dated June 21.

All those who figured the Bishops would fold can line up here on the right to collect your winnings. The Bishops (with an assist from Pope Lenin the First) sold out to the Democrats. Again.

Who in their right mind could ever trust the Catholic Church, especially this Communist Pope, that worked with Hitler to slaughter millions of Jews? Democrats are nothing more than modern day Nazis that would control and slaughter any opposition to them.

#1, that would be Pope Marxist I.
And the pampered, perfumed bishops are demonstrating the courage they showed in dealing with homosexual pedophiles in the priesthood.

I know at least one of the above responses, if not all of the responses, is not from a Catholic. It really is incumbent on Biden himself to not accept Communion. I know many people who attend Mass and do not receive Communion. Their reasons are their own.

How does remember Billy Joel's 1983 hit song title "Keeping the Faith."
Is there no one in the Catholic Church who remembers the faith of Sir Thomas More (7 February 1478 – 6 July 1535), who was executed by English King Henry VIII, because Thomas keep his faith?

It's one thing to not have a "national policy, it's another that by declaring no policy it appears to those who never really learned their faith that public support for abortion is okay. That is scandalous.
These politicians know that their public stance on abortion has excommunicated them. Then again a whole lot of other things they do, adultery, cheating and stealing, etc., should also be issues that should cause them to refrain from receiving.
As long as the wimps at the USCCB like Cupich and Gregory do not censure the real Bishops when they deny Communion to these fallen Catholics the good ones will continue to do so. It's their job to make sinners aware of their sin to protect their souls. If the sinner chooses to continue there is only one result. Old Joe and Nancy better take heed. Odds are they may be facing those consequences soon.

Why are they speaking about a "national policy"? It's news to me that the One, True, Universal Catholic Church varies from country to country.
By choosing not to have a policy and not to issue a teaching document, they have made it quite clear what their stance is. No surprise, I suppose, but I was holding onto some little thread of hope that they'd do the right thing.

Heretics! This has nothing to do with anything national. It has to do with Catholic doctrine and its application in the entire church. They have seccularized and politized themselves and the church. And that includes the pope.

#9 you hit on a reason I left the RCC. After Vatican II the "Universal" Church ceased to exist. Every diocese ( sometimes parishes) began to set up different rules. I yearned for all of the ceremony especially Holy Week. I left the Church but cling to the basis of the Religion.

#4 is correct. Your choice to receive communion but you should not if you are in a state of grave sin. I doubt that these “Catholic” politicians care. They are atheists and just use the Faith as a cover to fool voters. They are in for a rude awakening some day.

Are the Catholics still anti-birth control, and do they deny communion over that?
If so, how do the bishops square that with their stance on abortion?

All standards are gone. That's a shame. I'm at the point where I wouldn't be surprised if they served communion to Wiccans.

About as I expected.
There's more BackBONE in a bowl of Jell-o than there is in these Catholic Church bureaucrats.
They're happy to let the Church descend into nothing, as long as they get to keep their soft, well-paid niche in the Church bureaucracy.
(Not too different from some RINO politicians who are happy to let America be destroyed as long as they get to keep THEIR soft, well-paid niche in the Government bureaucracy.)

They ALL need to read the gospel episode of Jesus whipping the "money changers" from the Temple, with the thought that the money changers refers directly to them: Lots of noise and carry one but contributing nothing to the cohesion of the Lord's Church and the welfare of His people on earth. They have fallen for the ecclesiastical cowards' three card trick of not "wanting to be hated" and "not scaring the people away". Look what that approach has done for all the other traditional Christian churches: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first".15.18

"... nor is it targeted at any one individual or class of persons..."
Archbishop Vigano released a letter on June 24, "Archbishop Vigano Stands with Father James Altman in Defending Persecuted Priests". Pity particular priests who preach Catholic doctrine in the Church would not be targeted for persecution by some in the Catholic hierarchy. Fr. James Altman is an interesting case study as is Joe Biden and other "Catholic" politicians.

#2, and those of you who "like" his/her comment: tell that to the tens of thousands of priests, nuns, and brothers who were murdered in Nazi death camps. If it hadn't been for the Catholic Church there would have been virtually no religious opposition in Germany to the Nazis. Your ignorance of history is shocking.
