Mayor Lightfoot Declares Racism
A Public Health Crisis in Chicago

Original Article

Racism against black Chicago residents constitutes a public health crisis within the city, Mayor Lori Lightfoot declared on Thursday. Lightfoot said in a press conference that it is “way past time that as a city” made the declaration, which followed the publication of a Tuesday report by the Chicago Department of Public Health reporting the difference in life expectancy between black and non-black residents is 9.2 years.

Comments:

Later in the article it quotes the Health Department report as saying: "on average, black residents live 71.4 years compared to non-black residents who live to be 80.6.'' The report identified five primary factors contributing to the disparity: higher rates of chronic disease, death by homicide, infant mortality, HIV and other infections, and opioid overdose. Can the mayor please explain how white people are to blame for black-on-black homicides, opioid usage, poor health habits, and HIV infections? Those all sound like behavioral problems. Examine the infant mortality rate and it is probably also related to substance abuse and poor health habits. How about her telling black residents to stop shooting each other, and quit using drugs.

Four of the five causes of excess death are lifestyle choices…and the fifth may be genetic. Not a cause to blame on systematic racism fantasies.

The average life expectancy of the Chicago residents being gun shot every weekend is reduced far in excess of 9.2 years. Gun shot injuries and deaths of children tend to drive the average down. Can anyone recall whether these incidents have ever been declared to be a crisis?

So does she consider her own racism (not write journalist alolowed) to be a public health problem? Or will she pull the old anti-Semitism ploy claiming whites are a plague of locust? The only qualification Democrats need to get elected is complete and utter incompetency. And it really helps if they are stupid as well.

See what they did by justifying the suspension of constitutional rights to address a "health crisis?" Now any time they want to justify their lawlessness all they need to do is invoke the public health card. Same way with the "war" on terror. And since they define white people as inherently racist, we no longer are protected by the constitution. We're not supposed to do the math and connect the dots that they put before us? So Lori, here's the Venn diagram intersection between what you and I believe. I agree that the health of the black community is adversely impacted by policy that is in place which takes advantage of blacks to enhance the power of those promoting that policy. I see that as inherently racist. It is unhealthy to deprive people of the learning derived from accountability for their own decisions and actions. It is unhealthy to bombard people with the constant message that they are inferior and cannot achieve success in society without a helping hand from their neighbors which must come with the presumption that those neighbors must therefore be superior to them. Kind of racist, no? It is unhealthy to sit on your keester all day instead of getting up and making a contribution to your own sustenance and contributing to society. And it is unhealthy, actually downright deadly to subject the black community to carnage with no hope of change by deflecting the blame on people who have nothing to do with it, and inanimate objects. Here's a hint Lori no charge. Thing real hard about it on father's day. So glad to see we have common ground Lori.

Let's see, ** chronic disease -- most often the result of terrible diets or other lifestyle choices ** homicide -- caused by the violent black guy in your neighborhood ** infant mortality -- due to drug and alcohol use in the mother, or child abuse ** HIV __ due to IV drug abuse or rampant homosexual sex ** opiod overdose -- due to CHOOSING to use illegal drugs Yep, clearly all directly caused by ......black folks making really bad personal choices, with no white folks involved.

I'm in awe of her statistical prowess enabling her to make the causal relationship between black life expectancy and racism. How she controlled for the variables involving life choices (e.g., drugs, alcohol, hypertension, gang banging, living in Chicago, etc.) is beyond impressive. Perhaps the good mayor can finish her career running the CDC, where creative statistics is the norm.

Ida B. Wells, born into slavery in 1862 and orphaned at 16, rose to fame as a journalist by shining light on things we didn't want to see — in particular, the horror of lynching. Five thousand Americans were lynched over 90 years, three quarters of them black. The numbers don't account for the notoriety of the practice; rather, the demonic zeal of its practitioners does. Even reading about it will turn your stomach. Do not look at the photos they displayed with pride of charred bodies. Lynch mobs spread terror among non-white people and those who would defend the rule of law.
