Look, folks, I have white parents. That’s what my mom, a liberal Democrat mind you, would say jokingly as to why I, for lack of a better term, sucked at math. I’m a bad Asian. I don’t like math or science. Well, I like science—I’m fascinated by stuff that explodes—but I never excelled at it. None of the Vespa kids did well in math.

We may as well throw all merit out the window when we can't hold someone accountable for a wrong answer on a fourth grade math problem because it's racist.

Bee Ess. It's 500/325. Numerators. Denominators. It ain't higher math. It's 4th Grade Arithmetic. And Japanese 4th Graders don't get to go 5th Grade Arithmetic class until they can do problems like this 100% of the time. Not 70 or 80%, but 100%. But I'm a racist.

With young people like this one, what will America look like in 20 years? They are the most coddled, non-virtuous but think they are most virtuous, victimized, non-critical thinking, educationally and morally illiterate bunch of self-serving, wrong on almost everything bunch ever produced. The future of America is not very bright with them in charge. When you can't be accountable for your own actions, it means you deny your sins and short-comings, but you easily cast blame, sin, and shame upon others. They're all a bunch of baby Hitlers in the making.

I love it how they're so busy trying to make this a matter of racism that they didn't notice a slip of the pen:
FTA: "It didn’t help that I write for a newspaper where my colleagues are assiduously working to hold a rogue president accountable every day."
There you have it. Straight-up admitting that the Times' journalists have a political agenda and it's to prove Trump wrong or incompetent. So much for reporting the who, what, where, when, and how of an event.

Sorry for 2nd post but forgot to add that more and more so-called journalists are blatantly identifying publicly with the liberal left recently. They bundle themselves with Democrats...""WE have to do this...or WE need to help Biden..." They don't care if they're exposing their bias and seem to be flaunting their use of considerable power to sway the voters.

After the election, it's time to truly "level the playing field." Time to rescind the CRA and Title IX.
I'm tired of people taking my money and my opportunities and telling me how evil I am. These people don't deserve a thing, other than what the Constitution guaranteed them -- the opportunity to be judged the individual idiots that they are.

Wasn't even a math mistake. Was basic logic and reasoning mistake. You can't give 300 million people a million dollars each if you only have 500 million dollars. You can only give them each 1 dollar plus some change. I knew this immediately when I heard the tape replay.
That those two clowns both giggled with smugness at their "insights" plus the ENTIRE staff of producers who wrote the copy, TYPED IN THE CONTENT

Darling you have a profound character flaw that blows away your math deficiency like a fart in a gale.
You just admitted you and math are not exactly besties, yet your trusted your own math and broadcasted an absurdity to the world because it fit your narrative at the time.
Being bad at math is easily forgivable, you have a lot of company. Being bad at trustworthiness, honor and credibility puts you in a less admirable class.

Talk about a land of opportunity. Who knew that this woman, obviously a victim, could become a high profile, highly paid television person? Apparently race plays a much larger part in the hiring decision than math skills ( or simple cognition) do.

Oh no, this cannot be a "mistake" since the media is so much more brilliant than the hicks in the Country that voted for Trump. Their smug superiority is projected at us continually. Their "better than us-ness" is the reason that we should turn to them for information instead of small independent news sources who "get things wrong".
As to being racist, until the charge was made and I took the time to look it up, I had NO idea what race Mara is. Mara, you are a foolish Slimes writer who coincidentally happens to be Black, NOT a Black who happens to be an idiot. Your race is not a shield against accusations of incompetence.
“They resent that you exist.”
Not in the least. I resent that you push an agenda built on lies and "mistakes" to a national audience. If you aren't aware of it yet, the larger your audience the more you have a duty to review and verify your information before disseminating it. If you just had a local audience, it probably would have been laughed off as a stupid mistake. You're in the big leagues and whining about your problems just makes them worse and diminishes you.

Well OP if indeed liberals think the difference between $1.53 and a million bucks is trivial, that would explain their inability to understand why their tax and spend and spend and spend policies will bankrupt the the nation.
Oh and math being racist is old news. Since Asians and white men are good at it, it has to be rascist. :p

Her retelling of the incident was misleading and dishonest (confirming that liberals have no sense of right and wrong). Although forced to own up to what was a disgraceful error of cognition (way beyond a "math mistake", and in no way "trivial") she clearly believes that, what she says is so, because she says it, and she is entitled to be correct, or something.

her negritude had nothing to do with her mistake. her inability to read critically had everything to do with the mistake.
cherokee Lizzie, for the pat year, has trotted out, arms flailing, proposing a 'wealth tax' and claiming just a two cents wealth tax imposed on billionaires could solve all the problems in our budget.
and the response to the two cents war cry? cheering, shouting, applause, accolades for the failed candidate.

What this "trivial error" exposed was the intellectual pretense of MSM talking heads. They failed to recognize a colossal miscalculation, and got a well deserved taste of their own medicine: Public shaming.
It's not a race thing. It's a numbers thing. It appears the defensive "victim" doesn't understand that professionals in all fields are responsible for getting their numbers right. From interior decorators to doctors to engineers, there are no free passes for screwing up. Math matters.

A small math error is misplacing a decimal point, one place left or right. It happens to the best of us, and is much harder to detect "by inspection". But ..... an error of six decimal places - known as six orders of magnitude - is MASSIVE, and should always be caught by inspection.
This sort of thing happened far less frequently in the slide rule days because we used scientific notation for all problems of any complexity, which makes keeping the decimal location pretty easy. Today, easier to fat finger a key and be off with a calculator if you hurry.

To me, black lady, the issue is that the democrat media has this snobby superiority complex that is constantly exposed when they talk about the icky Trump.....which is, of course, all the time. This just exposes your 'superiority' as phony as heck. You're actually quite stupid, on a lot of fronts.

Your race has nothing to do with it but as usual play the race card to become the victim.
Your lack of knowledge is the reason for being challenged. Sometimes common sense plays into the equation?

OK, so according to this NYT Op Ed writer a difference in $1.53 per person and $1,000,000 per person is a "trivial" math error. Then, she chooses to hide behind the race card. Last time I checked Brian Williams is white and he made the same mistake.
