I’ve never been a Bill Maher fan because his politics and mine diverge so completely. However, I’ve always given Maher credit for having the courage to speak out against the mindless leftists who – let’s be honest – make up his fan base. He was back Friday night with a monologue telling his fellow progressives to get over their “progressophobia.” That term, from the Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker, refers to progressives who, when they see actual progress, refuse to acknowledge it. Andy Slavitt was Joe Biden’s senior adviser to the COVID response team. He just stepped down from the position last week and now has a new book he’s hawking on all the networks, “Preventable: The Inside Story of How Leadership Failures, Politics, and Selfishness Doomed the U.S. Coronavirus Response.”
What a coincidence, I’m sure that his leaving isn’t at all timed to coincide with the book coming out. Did it factor into his joining the administration? This is just wrong to try to profit off the pandemic with a book. Yes, he’s no longer with the Biden team but that doesn’t make it any less scummy.

American media is so infected with leftism that it’s ideologically slanted to the point of tipping over and it’s highly possible that the media doesn’t even know it. It doesn’t have the ability to look at itself critically, and we get very real moments where the media asks Democrats what it can do to better help them along while on air.
The media in other countries can see it, though, and Australia’s, in particular, can’t help but dedicate a segment to it.

In his motion for a new trial, former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, through his attorney Eric Nelson, made an obvious point. Quoting case law, Nelson reminded the court of “the prosecutor’s inherently unique role in the criminal justice system, which mandates that the prosecutor not act as a zealous advocate for criminal punishment, but as the representative of the people in an effort to seek justice.”
Had the State prosecutors set out to honor this mandate and seek justice, they would not have presented the medical evidence they did. In fact, they would not have charged Derek Chauvin with second-degree murder or charged his colleagues as accomplices.

One person was killed and another injured Sunday night after being struck by a car in the Uptown area of Minneapolis during a protest, near the site where Winston Smith was shot by sheriff’s deputies earlier this month.
A witness said the eastbound SUV was moving at a high rate of speed as it approached just before midnight, and that the driver appeared to accelerate as they got closer to demonstrators who had blocked off Lake Street near Girard Avenue.
