The common assumption on the right is that Joe Biden has been endlessly rehearsing answers to questions that will asked by friendly reporters when President Biden holds his first-ever presidential press conference. But his response to a question shouted out to him yesterday raises a couple of alternative possibilities to consider. According to Peter Doocy, the White House correspondent for Fox News, “Somebody shouted out to Biden ‘how are you getting ready for your press conference’ and he said: ‘What press conference?’” (snip) are there any reporters that will ask Biden questions more difficult than his favorite ice cream flavor?

Biden tries to make jokes. Remember when Peter Doocy asked Biden if he's made a VP selection, and Biden replied something like, "It's you." So, he may have been making a weird joke over the press conference because he's a really weird guy.

There's not going to be a press conference. The "president" will suffer a last-minute fall, a "wag the dog" international emergency will take place, or he will step down today. There's no way he can be propped up for actual questions from the press.

Don’t dismiss Mean Joe as incapable of answering well rehearsed answers to questions screened by the WH 2 weeks ago. He’ll read an opening remark about number of people vaccinated and for everyone else to be vaccinated so that we can have a limited July 4th with immediate family. Biden will NOT give any credit to Trump for vaccine but will repeat his lies that all vaccines were made possible by him. First question will be to the ultimate lap dog, the AP, which will ask him to explain all the benefits of the $2 trillion bill he just signed. Any questions about border crisis will be answered with “I’ve directed President Harris to oversee this issue, and issue caused by Trump’s cruel policies”. The NY Times and WaPo have already written glowing reviews of his presser, so all is well in leftist land.

I'm still waiting for some clever artist to show us what Despicable Joe really looks like - - without the plugs - - without the botox - - without the dentures. From the very first moment of Biden’s first press conference, one could tell that the days of Trump press conferences were gone. You remember those days, don’t you? Gotcha questions, lectures, fights, interruptions, blatant disrespect – not from Trump, but from the media. It was they who created a sense of chaos and divisiveness, not Trump. It was very different this time. The media were on their best behavior but even they couldn’t protect Biden from himself. Other posts here address more substantive issues raised in the press conference. This is just about style points for both Biden and the media.
