A Southwest Airlines pilot’s recorded rant about Bay Area residents quickly went viral online this week, with the pilot at one point calling those who live in San Francisco “goddamn liberal f---s.”
A Southwest spokesman confirmed to The Hill Thursday night that the audio was captured on one of the company's flights and that the pilot worked for Southwest.
The spokesman added that the company was "fully addressing the situation internally."
The remarks, which were picked up over the Mineta San Jose International Airport’s air traffic control scanner, occurred on a March 12 flight and were posted on Live ATC,

I don't see a problem here. The guy got it right. More of us have to speak out, maybe not with those f-bombs, but certainly with more outrage.

What’s to “address “? The pilot is telling the truth. Let’s hope he doesn’t meet the same fate as the Georgetown Law professor.

I’m flying on Southwest next week. I’ll be sure and pass the word to them that this pilot should get a commendation and a raise.

I live in the SF Bay Area, and he speaks the truth about the situation here.
I’m only glad that he didn’t bash SUBARUs, since it’s my favorite car (lol).

He spoke the truth, Southwest. He should watch his language in the cockpit, though.

Men speaking about stuff while working. It's a big So What, but that'll be the technicality they use to can him - article says something about talking ONLY about safety issues at less than 10k altitude.

I'd fly on his airplane any time. Sounds like he's a realist who has his head screwed on right.

I challenge Southwest Airlines to do a "study" in which they ask passengers to pay a $25 "upgrade" to fly on this pilot's airplane. Let's see how many takers they get. But remember, it was my idea so I'm first in line. Whaddaya say, Southwest? Up for the challenge?

Most aviation professionals (except flight attendants) are politically conservative. I base this opinion on my triple decades of experience in the industry. I only met one pilot who loved Obama and I would never fly with that clown in command.
Southwest will ask him come to the Chief's office some late afternoon. The will tell him, "Hey, you need to watch that mic switch, you know?" and the pilot will agree. Then the Chief will walk over to the closet, pull out a bottle of whatever his "poison" might be, and they'll proceed to drink and tell stories. Hands will shake and then a press report will say that the pilot was disciplined and it will never happen again. The LAST thing Southwest will do is relieve a pilot or fire him. They, as well as every airline, are struggling to obtain qualified pilots from this country. The military is not putting them out at the rates they once did and kids know that aviation isn't the romantic career it was once dreamed of being.

I have a good friend who is a long time Southwest pilot. He could easily have said it, but he's smart enough to shut off his Mic.

I would fly Southwest every time if they came in and out of Baton Rouge. Sometimes I drive an hour to New Orleans for get one of their flights. Love Southwest!

A friend that I have known since he was a teen, and helped him build his first real aircraft, is now a SW pilot.
This pilot is absolutely correct.....but that hot mic stuff can be bad news. Hope he will be OK.

Kinda reminded me of another Southwest Airlines pilot from a few years back. The one who ranted about "grannies, gays and grandes." He was funnier with that phrasing...

If I remember my ground school flight training correctly, there is not supposed to be any idle chatter in the cockpit. In fact, the FAA uses, for training purposes, the cockpit tape of an airliner, where the flight crew members were debating which restaurant to go for dinner, when they landed, and they lost altitude, didn't notice it, and crashed in the Everglades, killing lots of people. (the co-pilot, a lad, kept trying to tell the oldtime PIC (pilot in command) that they were losing altitude, but the lad was ignored.)

the pilot should receive appropriate training.
1) Make sure mic is a few inches from the mouth for more clarity;
2) Pilot should be schooled on the Medical Consequences of Homosexual Behavior, so that he can rant for longer periods of time to an audience that needs to know.
3) He should register as a senatorial candidate in any election that needs no more liberals.

Hmmm, don't they have to FIRST prove he was WRONG in his assessment of the SF Bay Area Ant Farm Residents?
