Bishop Robert W. McElroy of San Diego warned against the "weaponization of Eucharist" as a way to get Catholic elected officials, President Joe Biden among them, to adhere to the church's stance on abortion.
"I do not see how depriving the president or other political leaders of Eucharist based on their public policy stance can be interpreted in our society as anything other than the weaponization of Eucharist and an effort not to convince people by argument and by dialogue and by reason, but, rather, to pummel them into submission on the issue," Bishop McElroy said.

When Dementia Jo is pretending to sign EOs, look over his left shoulder and you will see a photo of him with Pope Marxist I.
As for being in the state of grace, and free from sin at the time of taking Holy Communion, I guess the Good Sisters lied to me about that.

Why should followers of Satan, like Biden and Pelosi, be allowed to receive this blessed sacrament? Does the church approve of their celebration of the killing and butchering of babies in the womb? Inquiring minds want to know.

How about refusing him on the grounds that he performed a same sex "marriage?" He's not going to submit no matter what happens so go ahead and refuse him communion. Show true Catholics you are serious, otherwise watch churches continue to empty as good Catholics say to themselves, if he can get away with something like that why should I follow the rules?

"America" is a left wing rag....catholic in name only....we have a handful of arch liberals positioned by Francis in high places...Mcelroy, Cupich, Tobin, Gregory.....large numbers of bishops endorsed Archbishop Gomez, the head of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, when he wrote a letter criticizing Biden...we can only pray that this left wing assault on the Church, heavily influenced by Satan, ends soon...Divine intervention needed!

“Weaponizing the Eucharist”? Seriously? There was a time when bishops cared more about protecting communicants’ souls from sin than covering up the sin with platitudes.

"Weaponization"?? Priests are to guard the sacraments with their very lives or so we are taught.
If we view the sacrament as what we say it is and we believe it is medicine for a repentant soul, wouldn't administering that medicine irresponsibly be spiritual malpractice. And the authority you have to answer to is not as lenient as the government. We are told to approach the holy gifts with reverence and awesome fear. This isn't Halloween candy, there for any and all for the asking!!

There is no "weaponization of the Eucharist." Some of these bishops are nuts. They are not any more Catholic than Joe is. Withholding the Eucharist is not an effort to to "pummel them into submission on the issue." I cannot even believe how far he had to twist this to absolve himself of his responsibility. Joe Biden, Pelosi, Cuomo and so many others publicly support the grave mortal sin of abortion. They celebrate it amend facilitate it. They lead others into grave sin. To commit a mortal sin one has to know it is wrong ("I would never do it but...") and go ahead and do it anyway. It's not a sin that can be confessed and wiped away because absolution requires the promise to never commit the sin again.
Maybe this stupid Bishop was sick the day they taught him about the responsibility of the priest to protect the sinner from the even more grievous sin of sacrilege which Biden (and the others) commit each time they receive Communion. Evidently Joe's soul is not important in this matter. That's what the Church, from this Pope on down should have as their main concern. They will have an awful lot to answer for one day.
I never thought I would lose both my Church and my country in my lifetime. Those things were the constant in my life. I, however, will not leave The Church, it's far bigger than these flawed mortal men, and I will continue to pray for my country. (I must admit keeping optimistic about our future gets more difficult each day.)

#2, I am a Catholic LDotter. I am ashamed of my Church. The hierarchy has gone to Baal. Bergoglio replaced the members of the Pontifical Academy for Life with pro-aborts and population control advocates. Population control advocates have been given a forum at the Vatican. Bergoglio himself has bowed before the goddess Pachamama.
I hear the words of the prophet Jeremiah from the Book of Lamentations and believe this is coming to the corrupt Catholic Church and to the corrupt United States who have both turned away from our LORD God:
"How lonely she is now, the once crowded city! Widowed is she who was mistress over nations; The princess among the provinces has been made a toiling slave.
Bitterly she weeps at night, tears upon her cheeks; With not one to console her of all her dear ones;
Her friends have all betrayed her and become her enemies.
Judah has fled into exile from oppression and cruel slavery; Yet where she lives now she finds no place
to rest: All her persecutors come upon her where she is narrowly confined.
The roads to Zion mourn for lack of pilgrims going to her feasts; All her gateways are deserted, her priests groan, Her virgins sign; she is in bitter grief.
Her foes are uppermost, her enemies are at ease;
The LORD has punished her for her many sins.
Her little ones have gone away, captive before the foe."
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, return to the LORD, your God!!

#2, for one the Church got into bed with Saul Alinsky decades back, buying into his simple message of the haves/have nots. The Church bought into the notion that it and the left were working to the same purpose. There were some that saw the disconnect and deception but they were increasingly isolated and marginalized. Sound familiar?

Back in the 1953, Archbishop Rummel ordered the end to segregation in the Diocese of New Orleans. People were reluctant when it came to the parochial schools and in 1962 he excommunicated three of the most vocal of the desegregation rules and the schools were desegregated quietly. Now he is remembered as a hero.
Bishop Robert McElroy is not worthy of his office.

It may be a surprise to the high mucky muck bishops, but In this modern era that is loaded with detractions actually few people care. Bishops are politicians and when they promote one rule for ordinary slobs, and another rule for elected politicians, those bishops are making themselves more and more irrelevant to more and more Americans. It should be noted that while there certainly is a spiritual church, there is also a worldly church and that’s where those political bishops operate. Clearly those two segments of the church are have different missions.

Sounds like the Bishop is more worried about politics and his status at cocktail parties than Catholic Church teachings and it's member's souls. If the Catholic actually had a Pope who followed Catholic rules, this Bishop should be summoned to Rome immediately and be demoted to some remote jungle village or Arctic Monastery where he could further study the Bible and it's teachings.

Man: I hate to give my views on this.
Catholics believe that when the Priest turns the Water and bread into the Eucharist at mass it become the body and Blood of Christ. If it is the body of Christ Biden should choke on it. It would be proof of the myth.
Biden has 2 strikes against him. Abortion and married to a divorced woman. Both things go against church teachings.. But I ask this Bishop McLeroy why should I obey the tenets of the Church if they are not forced on Biden. It isn't I who would weaponize the Eucharist, it is you who are denigrating it by giving it to this Prostate.

Says a lot about this "bishop" that he considers denial of Holy Communion from people engaged in manifest sin to be "weaponization" and none of what it says speaks well to his faithful representation of The Church. Communion is not to be received if someone is not in a state of grace. This "bishop" would rather condemn Joe to eternal damnation than show the courage necessary to provide him the rebuke needed to return him to the flock.

Archbishop Naumann of Kansas City is finally starting to lay down a few hammers. On EWTN News Nightly, Naumann was asked point blank about Abortion Joe Biden's visible and unrestrained support for Planned Parenthood -- the nation's #1 abortion chain. Naumann minced no words: “I would say, ‘Wake up. Think about what you’re really doing here.’ I mean, his soul is in jeopardy, I believe,” said Naumann.

These "liberal" bishops need to be reminded every now and then that Church dogma does not contain "suggestions". If one doesn't like the rules, then one should leave and join another denomination that is less restrictive--in their opinion.

#26, Biden drinks judgment upon himself when he receives the Eucharist. See 1 Corinthians 11:27-29
Biden is spiritually excommunicated. But he should be FORMALLY excommunicated. Every time he receives Communion, and the public views it, the message to others is that abortion is okay and that he is a Catholic in good standing. Biden was refused Communion by a priest a few years ago in Florence, South Carolina, a parish where I was a member for nine years. Good for that priest!!
Do formal excommunications happen? Yes, in 1988 or so, Pope John Paul II excommunicated Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, who was considered a schismatic, who ordained priests without Rome's permission. He belonged to the St. Pius X society, which celebrates only the Traditional Latin Mass.
To me, it's worse to be a heretic than a schismatic. Biden, IMHO, is a heretic in that he denies fundamental teachings of Catholicism.
The bishops who allow Biden to receive the Eucharist have blood on their hands. They are essentially saying abortion is acceptable.

Wow who knew that in the Catholic Church abortion was an optional choice for practicing Catholics. Not a Catholic myself but It's like most issues in today's world, politics enlightening morality vs. morality enlightening politics. Guess this guy's not such a good Catholic either. Priests and such are not allowed to decide which things to hold as doctrine the way I understand it but maybe I'm wrong.

Weaponization? Aren't these people who administer the Eucharist (priest, bishop, archbishop, etc) also committing a sin by knowingly administering to a person known to be in bad standing with the church? Aren't they then in bad standing with the church?

2nd post apologies, but #36 deserves a shout out.
Jesus made Peter the first Pope, saying, 'upon this rock(peter) my Church shall be built. Peter ordained priests, who through the process known as apostolic succession, had the power of Christ to ordain more priests.
Priests, just as the apostles did, had the power to hear confessions and offer absolution. Christ said that, by the way.
transubstantiation, the ability to change something into something else - wine into the blood of Christ, bread into the body of Christ - is the central power of the priest. And giving it to the believer, who has to be in a state of grace, having confessed his sins and done his penance, is an enormous responsibility on the shoulders of the priest. Improper administering of the sacrament of Holy Communion would be a super mortal sin by the priest.
Someone should tell the bishop.

#37- Referencing Matthew 16:13-20, because of Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus declared that, upon this rock, the CONFESSION of Peter, He would build his Church. The Church was not built upon the authority of a man; it was built upon the ministry of the CONFESSION Peter made.
