The Justice Department’s discrimination lawsuit against Facebook debunks the Fortune 500’s fraudulent claim that a shortage of American workers forces managers to hire foreign workers, U.S. immigration experts say. The federal lawsuit says Facebook hid more than 1,000 job advertisements from eager American graduates so U.S.-based managers could pretend the only qualified candidates for the jobs were the company’s temporary foreign workers. The pretense allowed the company to request permanent green cards for the temporary workers: From January 1, 2018 to April 28, 2019, Facebook’s online job postings for … [normal job] positions that it ultimately filled received on average 104 total applicants per position.

In the early 19th century, Texas was frontier and a land of great opportunity and promise. It was also a magnet for folks who wanted (or needed) to leave Europe or the United States behind and start fresh. As the exhibit I co-wrote and produced for the Alamo in 2017 attested, Jim Bowie himself was but one of many who moved into Texas for fortune, glory, and to escape things that may be best left behind. When people left their homes and headed west to the Texas frontier, they’d often leave a simple carving in a prominent tree or another spot on their property that consisted of three letters: GTT.

A few years ago, I got interested in President Rutherford B. Hayes. His presidency came to my attention because the 19th president is a huge hero in Paraguay. Why? He supported Paraguay's territorial claims and saved the country. He got a province, a school, and several streets named after him way south of the border. As my friend from Paraguay said, you'll get a free lunch in Asuncion if your last name is Hayes! President Hayes was also famous for the 1876 election and the compromise that put him in the White House. Though Samuel J. Tilden won the popular vote, several electoral votes were disputed.

The New York Times’ former Supreme Court-beat reporter Linda Greenhouse is still opining for the paper, and any residual sense of objectivity has been jettisoned, as shown by last week’s screed on the newest member of the court: “Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s Choice -- Will she join the Supreme Court’s grievance conservatives?” Ostensibly, Greenhouse was writing about the recently decided COVID-related religious-freedom Supreme Court case Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Melting of ice in central Greenland is being accelerated by the heat of molten rocks rising from the core–mantle boundary, adding to sea-level rise, a study has found. Researchers from Japan mapped out the extent and branches of the so-called 'Greenland plume'—the rising flow of molten rock ascending beneath the island. Geothermal activity is abundant in the North Atlantic region. Iceland and the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen have active volcanoes with their own mantle plumes. Svalbard—a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean—is meanwhile an area of geothermal activity. Until now, however, the origin of these activities and their interconnectedness

And because the left has no respect for the law, the United States is on the verge of having a presidential election stolen from the American voter's hands. So significant are the consequences that anti-American forces normally acting behind the scenes are out in the open, flagrantly telegraphing their future moves to finally overthrow the Trump administration. Although Michigan had already certified its 2020 election results, the campaign is asking the state’s top court to declare that the Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, violated the state’s constitution and election laws by permitting the counting of absentee ballots without meaningful access for poll challengers to observe the counting and processing. They argue that Benson’s actions also violated voters’ constitutional right to fair and lawful elections.

Sworn testimony from dozens of eyewitnesses, well-documented breaches of statutory ballot counting protocol, and damning security camera videos have been presented to legislators in these states. Republican lawmakers in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin have the constitutional power and the moral duty to rectify the resultant fraudulent outcomes. The only obstacle to reestablishing voter sovereignty in these five states is the inaction of the spineless GOP majorities that control their legislatures.
