St. Anthony, Minnesota resident Kim Hunt received an anonymous letter from a neighbor on Monday chastising she and her husband for their Christmas light display. "I couldn't help but notice your Christmas light display. During these unprecedented times, we have all experienced challenges which casual words just don't describe what we're feeling. The idea of twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against our neighbors who don't celebrate Christmas or who can't afford to put up lights of their own,"

Time to double the lights, bring in the 10 inch subwoofers, and blast all I want for Christmas. Seriously, how inhuman can you get?

Sounds like one of those anonymous letters that presumes to speak for everyone but only speaks for one disgruntled jackwad...probably a muslim agitator.

And those lights are also for the enjoyment and uplifting of those who have nothing.
You, you 'Karen' prefer the darkness of your heart to the light of hope. Get thee hence to where the darkness matches your intent.

The Christmas season is a massive secular and religious celebration. There is always a grinch or two. This grinch is worse...with a need to control the lives of others, to lecture with virtue signalling...bet she wears a mask in her car.

I thought it was better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness?
Funny to read this story. Just tonight coming home I saw how many more of my neighbors have put up serious lights than did last year and I was pleased to think how many of them were making a show against the dark times we're in. This year my own watchword is GAUDY (after years of tasteful Williamsburg style) because I'm *not giving in* to gloom. Large pooh-pooh & poppycock to this poison pen crank. POOH! POOH!

I hope donations roll in to pay their electric bill and dozens more lights. I came home today and the freak next door had damaged my lights so they could sneak around in my dark backyard. Some people need to go live in the woods and be alone.

I would be tempted to answer their letter with this one:. "I couldn't help but notice your lack of Christmas light display. . .The idea of you not having twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against neighbors who celebrate Christmas and put up lights for others to enjoy.

No, Christmas lights are not a reminder of divisions in our society or biases against our neighbors. If you have no clue what Christmas lights are all about, and this is what they mean to you, just shut up and keep your thoughts to yourself. You obviously have mental issues.

After reading this earlier today, I added to my light display. And we live on a private gravel road with only four full-time neighbors living past our house. Its awesome, after driving through the trees the road opens into a wide meadow and you are greeted by our lights out in the middle of nowhere. When our neighbors come home at night they honk their horns. This "Karen's" concern should be met with every house on the street putting up lights. Lots More Lights!!!
Merry Christmas! When the darkness is laughed away with lights and good cheer. Our Savior is born. (Who I bet also likes lights.)

Some of us who cannot afford Christmas lights (or the bill to pay for the extra electricity!) actually enjoy the lights put up by others. Christmas used to bring folks together, even during war time. So, is not division caused by one who would shame others for their celebration of what's become a national holiday?

I still am rankled every time I put up our Christmas lights and I think of Jimmy Carter telling us not to because we will run out of oil. It was a dim holiday.. That was the 70's.
I'm enjoying this person's lights and I can't even see them.

Why do we have to see the letter with each reply cited. Once was enough.
As to the lights, we were one of the few houses to put up decorations for years, when the kids were young. The kids are grown and we're in our 70's, so we gave all of our lights to the church. We just enjoy our neighbors lights now.
