Most students in Massachusetts will now be required to receive flu vaccinations, state health officials announced Wednesday. According to a Department of Health press release, the "influenza immunization will be required for all children 6 months of age or older who are attending Massachusetts child care, pre-school, kindergarten, K-12, and colleges and universities." College students who are fully remote are exempt from the mandate, as are homeschooled students.

Um...required vaccination has been around in schools for a long time, just not the flu vaccine. If you wanted to live on campus at university, you had to provide proof of vaccination back when I went to school in the 90's. The flu vaccines efficacy does indeed change from one year to the next due to how it is produced in anticipation of the coming flu season. I personally don't advocate forced vaccination but then I also home school. If you don't want your kids vaccinated, don't send them to schools that require it. Yes, it limits your options but all choices have consequences. Grow up and deal with it.

Vaccines are rolled out based on what the "experts" THINK will be the prevalent flu in any given year. Its literally a crap shoot. If they guess correctly, its effective. If they dont, then its worthless.

Flu vaccines are about 35% effective, so I've read. I doubt the number is that high. Last flu vaccine I took, I got pneumonia three times that winter. I won't take them and would not give them to a child unless that child is immunosuppressed, and even then I'd think twice about it. Considering all the other vaccines aren't perfect in preventing what it's given for, I'd rethink the whole vaccination process if I had small children.

Flu vaccines work, but are unneeded for younger folks whose immune system will stop the flu easily. The vaccines are most useful for older people.

Bill Gates this week added more flame to the fire in the ongoing debate over the usage of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19, claiming that using the drug to treat the coronavirus carries with it the risk of "severe side effects" and arguing that medical officials should instead pursue the numerous "good therapeutic drugs" currently in development. Yet there is at present little evidence that "severe side effects" are common in COVID-19 patients who take hydroxychloroquine, with the majority of reported adverse events being relatively mild and only a small fraction of reported effects so far being dangerous and/or fatal.

Georgia was one of the last states to cave to a statewide lockdown. It was also one of the first to start reopening. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp resisted calls to mandate a statewide closure, leaving it to local governments. When reopening was an option after guidelines were published, Kemp ensured that all Georgians would be allowed to participate in the reopening and prohibited local governments from implementing more restrictive guidelines than he did at the state level. The media freaked out on both ends of the lockdown. They browbeat Kemp until he issued the stay-at-home order.

Transgenderism posits that men and women can "identify" as the opposite sex if they feel strongly enough about it, a position that few in any celebrities have challenged as aggressively and publicly as Rowling.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
