J.K. Rowling – the multimillionaire author known for writing the perpetually popular "Harry Potter" series of novels – penned an essay this week defending her opposition to transgender ideology, claiming that the "deeply misogynistic and regressive" movement is harming young men and women and making women less safe.
Rowling generated significant backlash last year when she tweeted that "sex is real," a noted rebuke of transgender ideology from a popular public figure.
Transgenderism posits that men and women can "identify" as the opposite sex if they feel strongly enough about it, a position that few in any celebrities have challenged as aggressively and publicly as Rowling.

Excellent. Not a big fan of her books, but she is rapidly becoming a role model.

Oh, mama! Is she going to year about this! Truth is Kryptonite (or maybe in her case, the Elder Wand?) to progressive transgenders. They can't abide hearing the truth that you are what you were born as. Or, to put it more bluntly, what was between your legs when your came out of mama is what you is from now on. Kind of like, Pelosi may get Botox injections on a monthly basis, have face lifts until she has a goatee, dye (and 'supplement' her hair - yes she does!) but that heifer is EIGHTY YEARS OLD! It doesn't matter if she 'identifies' as 45 - doesn't even matter if she alters her appearance to LOOK 45. She IS 80 years old. Period.

Gee at least one woman resents men pretending to be females. Germaine Greer, the most famous feminist at one time, also states it is a sham for a man to pretend to be a woman. Of course the emedia describe this logic as 'controversial.' Well maybe to a propagandist, but if this is the battle to determine the war, let's go. The reality is, we may have lost. Can anyone use the term that was common a short time ago, drag queen? I'm not sure it will be posted here and it was a 'normal' part of the entertainment media for years and still is, but the PC police are everywhere so George Orwell was dead right.

She should continue to stand for her convictions and not be swayed by others.

So many in our country have already bowed down. And we have a First Amendment!
As #1 says, i also am not a big fan of her books, but i deeply appreciate that she has taken a stand instead of abasing herself.
Here at home, we must stop this before it goes any further.

Good for you J.K. don't let the PC mob sway your opinion. When describing transgenders I prefer to use the common Webster definition of "freak"; a person, animal, or plant with an unusual physical abnormality.

I can say that I don't agree with her on all things. For example, in later interviews she says she thinks Dumbledore and Neville Longbottom were both gay [when did 'homosexual' become a forbidden word?], but it never entered into her stories. If you throw that into the story when it has nothing to do with the plot, isn't that like gratuitous sex in a movie? Does nothing to move the plot forward, so why is it there? Unlike #1, I do appreciate her books - I love the fact that she plants clues in earlier books that are not important until several books later. But read her later interviews. Read the inscriptions on Harry's parents' tombstones, and on Dumbledore's mother and sister's. Both are scripture quotations. Harry, to any Christian, is a 'form' of Christ: He confronted absolute evil, he died, he chose to come back (in the book, he had that choice), and after that, ultimate evil could never defeat him. I am not a young person - I have grandchildren older than some of you reading this - but if you read interviews with J.K. Rowling, this was not accidental. She knew what her story represented. I have never read anything about what the 'Matix' writers intended. But there is not a clearer representation of Christ than Neo (meaning either 'new' or an anagram of 'one'). Even at his death (which is his ultimate victory) he is splayed out as if on a crucifix. Seriously, did anyone miss it? Zion is the stronghold of those holdouts against 'the Matrix'. 'The Keymaker' holds the keys to reaching the source (Peter). Trinity (seriously? you missed that one?) is his love, but gives her life for him, as Jesus (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) gave his life. Read Rowlings books again with a new eye. Admire the skill of a new writer. Marvel at the hand of God in the story, whether Rowling meant it or not.

Good for J.K. Rowling, but she should think about the psychologies involved in this situation.

Wow, #9! I love the books too and I never saw in them what you described. But you are dead on right!
The things I love about the Potter books, besides an amazing story, are Rowling’s use of mythology, science and Latin, most of which goes right over the heads of children. But any adult with a decent (pre-Common Core) education should pick up on them. Those spells are Latin and actually mean what the spell is intended to do. Sirius Black is named for Sirius, the “Dog Star” and he can turn himself into a black dog. Lupin’s name alone tells you that he’s a werewolf. Draco Malfoy? His name comes from Dracula - a name coming from the Romanian “dracul” meaning devil. Malfoy is a variation of the French mal foit, meaning “badly made”. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
And Rowling is, of course, dead on about the whole trans idiocy. The question which should be asked of the LBGTwhatever community is this - if there are 57 or 63 or 85 or whatever number of “genders” why are there only 2 options when it comes to transitioning? And, as another Ldotter recently pointed out - the “B” in LGBT stands for bisexual with “bi” meaning two. So they themselves are too insane to realize that they are openly admitting that there are only two sexes. And thank you, JK, for using the appropriate term “sex” instead of the inappropriate term “gender”. As a writer she would be well aware that “gender” applies to grammar, not humans.

Rowlings never says that transgender is bad or that there is something wrong with transgender people. She rightly claims that a man is always a man even if he has surgery to remove the male parts (or woman a woman). His DNA is still male. Rowlings arguments for her positions make complete sense if you put aside you biases and actually think about them. Unfortunately the PC police and LGBTQ community is so militant and insistent that everyone bow to their ideology they claim that anyone who disagrees is just a hater and homophobic / transphobic.
