A “higher than usual” number of Atlanta police officers failed to show up for work Wednesday night, hours after the Fulton County District Attorney announced criminal charges for two accused in the death of Rayshard Brooks.
“The department is experiencing a higher than usual number of call outs with the incoming shift,” Atlanta police posted on social media. “We have enough resources to maintain operations and remain able to respond to incidents.”

Treat officers badly and don't be surprised if they quit and move to another city. This latest example is basically a government fraud against an officer. That doesn't go well, and it seems likely that Atlanta will have trouble retaining and hiring officers.

I don't blame one cop anywhere who walks. I do feel bad for the guys who have to cover the calls.

They should all call in sick for a week. Let Atlanta get what it wants.
Geraldo yesterday said he should be charged "due to the politics going on right now". Screw the truth and what it will do to the officer and his family. I nearly jumped through the TV.

I suspect that there are more than a few resumes going out to police-friendlier places. Let the democrat cities live with their left-wing ideals. It might make conservatives out of some liberals.

“Across the country, morale is down with police departments, and I think ours is down tenfold,”
You watch a fellow officer get crucified for simply doing his job as he saw fit. That would tend to lower morale a bit. This is not unlike the ridiculous rules of engagement that our military had to live under during the Smidgen years but the military is not stupid enough to put body cams on soldiers. Until the police are able to "set phasers to stun" we have a dilemma. Blue lives matter, some black lives will be elevated to hero status just for doing something stupid.

They say history repeats itself. Looks like when all the cops walk off in Atlanta, its goona look like Sherman is back in town. Hot dogs anyone?

Let's do our part. Those of us able to influence hiring decisions let's please do our level best to hire any former police officer who left the profession due the mob rule.

People in the real world know that in most civil service jobs you have to pay for every sick day you take. Most states and municipalities forbid the taking of earned vacation days in place of sick leave. At least be reasonable when you advocate for the Blue Flu!

The city and county governments are not going to admit that anything has happened that weakens the police force. They will deny blue flu. And the news media will gladly report it that way.
Rumors from guys that have police radios of zero Atlanta radio traffic on previously busy channels. The criminals will run wild if they think there is no resistance. In outlying counties there are reports of robberies where the perps flee back to Atlanta counties and there is no response from those counties to the requests to continue the chase. Thus they had to give up and let the perps get away scott free.

With the way Police Officers are being treated I'm not surprised that Covid 911 is striking urban Police Departments nationwide....

If the leftist and liberal Democrats ever get the principle of qualified immunity from civil suits for actions that police officers take on the job thrown out, forget about police officers calling in sick as an issue, as what will happen is that there will be mass retirements and resignations of experienced police officers especially in the leftist and liberal Democrat run inner cities. That will make the leftist and liberal Democrats happy, as they will have a lot of open positions that they can then fill with favored social workers to deal with the law of the jungle that will then ensue.
