A suspected looter has been shot dead outside a pawn shop after protests over the death of George Floyd descended into chaos Wednesday night and rioters vandalized stores across the city.
Minneapolis Department Police Chief John Elder confirmed in a midnight press conference that one person was shot and killed and that another person was being held in custody. (Snip) Stores including Wendy's, Target, Walmart and AutoZone were looted, ransacked and some set alight before rioters tried to bust open an ATM, as many ignored pleas from the Floyd family's lawyer and Minnesota Governor Walz to protest peacefully Wednesday night.

I suspect that those pictures are somewhat monochromatic.

Perhaps if the rioters were shut down before this got out of control, another life would have been saved. Failures of the progressives are legion.

Forgive the second post, but it seems they never lament the destruction of private property, does it?

The most disgusting thing about the pictures is the obvious lack of social distancing. Don't these people know they are spreading a killer virus! Do they have a total lack of caring for their fellow man?

I get the anger. I do. But looting and ransacking only play into every negative stereotype the perpetrators of racial injustice have against the objects of their hate. It makes no sense to protest killing by stealing.

The dudes protecting the tobacco store should have been hired by Target. Maybe the looters would have thought twice about stealing all the TVs and baby strollers.

Sorry, but protestors shouldn’t have looting in the first place. It was supposed to be a peaceful protest and the store owners had nothing to do with George Floyd death - they were just st trying to make a living.

It shows that Christmas can come any time of the year in Minnesota and other big cities with predominate black population.
These property destroying animals don't even know or care who George Floyd was this is all they needed to destroy property.
In New Orleans during Katrina vigilantes wore shirts that read "You loot we shoot" I guess that's what happened to the one victim who was shot. I wouldn't rebuild any business in that area again let them all live in a desert waste land.

It seems that the cop was using excessive force which lead to death. That was used an an excuse for destroying private property and looting for personal gain . Are the rest of us supposed to look away because of skin color or economic conditions? Some would say yes. Think Baltimore.

One unintended consequence of the Wuhan Flu is that many more people have masks and are becoming accustomed to wearing them. Their shielded identities make them bolder looters and anarchists.

Apparently the police are only able to stop those protesting government shutdowns. Amazing how the police cannot stop those looting and burning down stores, giving the rioters room to vent. This is the fault of the officials running the city for not doing their jobs.

I expect the natives will scream bloody murder about the lack of shopping choices when the stores they looted and burned are closed permanently. Just like stores with a high level of shoplifting and theft are eventually closed. A classic case of fouling your own nest.

Note how the Daily Mail makes mention in the first sentence that the looter was shot dead OUTSIDE the pawnshop. Next we will hear how the looter was just an innocent passerby. We will hear the owner was not acting in self defense since the looter was not in the shop. The left will be busy crafting a narrative for this.
Expect to see more protests. Its an election year and the Democrats need the black vote. Bad news for the Democrats however: Half of the black community doesn't side with the protestors or the rioters. They are sick of this. The protestors and rioters set the black community back. They don't help. Many of them are voting for Trump.
The police killed someone while in their custody. This isn't the first time and it won't be the last. Get pulled over by the police? Be polite and answer their questions. Don't argue, Don't resist. Don't get in a fight. Getting in a fight with police is a good way to get killed. Let them do what they want. They are going to do it with or without your permission. That's the way the law works. It also helps if you stay out of trouble in the first place. Let the police do what they want, and both you and the police will move on. The police to their next stop, and you get to move on with your life.
Being pulled over with open containers of alcohol or possessing drugs is stupid. Getting so drunk or high that one cannot interact rationally with the general public or the police is stupid. Walking around with warrants is stupid. They won't go away, and police will find you. Trying to conceal a weapon from police is stupid and dangerous. Having an 'attitude' with the police is stupid. It won't make them go away. Quite the opposite. It will make them more suspicious and lengthen your encounter with law enforcement.

Go to the Twitter feed of Kyle Hooten of Alpha news. He was there. Powerline blog also has his stuff up. His Twitter feed has video inside the Target and in the crowds. Dangerous place to be for a journalist. Gotta give the guy credit. He is doing what journalist should do, report the facts from the scene. Frightening but good to see there are still real reporters.

And the Dem mayor who had recently ordered all Mpls people to wear masks in public, just gave a press conference. It was interesting that when he was standing in the background, he wore a mask, but when he came to the microphone, he took the mask off. Maybe that's the secret: Microphones destroy the virus! Also interesting was that he didn't appear to be crying while wearing his mask, but then when the mask came off at the microphone, the tears started to flow, the voice broke, etc.

I want to see a tox screen on the dead man. My bet is he had a fatal dose of fentanyl and/or other dangerous, illegal drugs. I think the officer who was putting his knee on his neck needed to be fired, but I really want to know if this guy was dying of a drug overdose more than police doing anything.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I read the victim was a large black man and I saw that in his picture. And that the cop had skinny arms and wasn't muscular. Maybe his mistake was putting his knee on the black man to hold him down because he didn't have the strength himself to do it. Were the other three cops watching what was going on? This was unfortunate, but not worth rioting and burning over.

Here we go again. Michael Brown became a hero. Remember when someone posted the story of a black man who took a machete to the white couple at the storage place and I said "this will be the only time you read this story" ?
