House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to immediately take a phone call from Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday evening notifying her that Iran had launched missile attacks against at least two U.S. military bases in Iraq.“Tell him I’ll call him back,” Pelosi said to an aide who handed her a note that the vice president was calling her during a meeting, opting to not immediately take the phone call as U.S. bases in Iraq were under attack and instead call the vice president back.Pelosi was in a meeting, according to Politico’s Heather Caygle, and was set to open the U.S. House for a new session moments later.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The new year is taking the presidential primary to a dark place in the nation’s first caucus state. President Donald Trump’s impending impeachment trial and fear of war with Iran — as well as the Australia wildfires and their implications for climate change — quickly cast a pall over a contest in which Democrats are already wracked with uncertainty about which candidate has the best chance of defeating Trump. All across Iowa hangs an air of heightened distress, which the candidates are readily leaning into. “I tell you all these things not to get you nervous, but

We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning." A Ukrainian passenger plane carrying 180 passengers and crew has crashed near Tehran just three minutes after takeoff. The plane had taken off from Imam Khomeini International Airport when it suffered 'technical problems', Iranian State TV reported. Unverified video footage tweeted by the BBC's Iran correspondent appeared to show the plane burning in the sky before crashing in a huge explosion. Flight information shows Ukrainian flight PS752—a Boeing 737-800—taking off at 2.44am UTC (6.14am local time) and reaching a height of 7,925ft before the data abruptly ends. An investigation team was at the site of the crash in southwestern outskirts of Tehran,

When Sen. Mazie Hirono suggested Americans should "believe in climate change as though it's a religion," some enterprising Canadians were listening. A website called Shrine On is among the many selling Greta Thunberg prayer candles, so supplicants can ask the climate gods to stop destroying us or something.
"Pray to Saint Greta Thunberg, Saint of Climate Change," the Shrine On description reads. The candle, which includes a picture of Greta Thunberg dressed up as Jesus Christ often is in votive candles, sells for $18 plus shipping. The Etsy listing is slightly cheaper at $14.43, and it reveals that the item will be ready to ship from Canada in 3-5 business days.

Right now is summer in Australia and every summer that country faces annual bushfires. This year the number of those fires has suddenly increased. The radical left was quick to blame “climate change” for the increase in fires. Ah, but now Australian authorities are pointing to something far more likely – people who have been starting these fires on purpose. Police are now working on the premise arson is to blame for much of the devastation caused this bushfire season. A strike force will investigate whether blazes were deliberately lit, and bring those responsible to justice.

Say, did you hear about the Democratic effort to impeach President Trump? No… not that one. That’s old news by now. I’m talking about the new one. This time the alleged high crime and/or misdemeanor would be starting a war with Iran without congressional approval. The mastermind behind this latest brainstorm is California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, bringing up the suggestion during an interview on MSNBC. (How appropriate.) As our friend Jim Gereghty points out over at National Review, even if Khanna can get a significant number of his Democratic colleagues to go along with this scheme, it’s unlikely to make any difference in the long run.

Just like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thinking he could outwit President Trump’s policies on NAFTA trade (he failed), Trudeau’s bestie, French President Emmanuel Macron, has stupidly exhibited similar shortsightedness. Zarif had requested a visa a “few weeks ago” to enter the United States so he could attend a Jan. 9 U.N. Security Council meeting, three diplomatic sources told Foreign Policy.
Iran was awaiting approval on the visa Monday (Jan. 6) when a Trump official called U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres to inform him that Zarif would not be allowed into the United States.
Diplomatic sources said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

One of the things that became very obvious about the Left beginning with 9/11 is that Leftists consider anyone who hates America to be virtuous in some way. It's irrelevant to them that some America-haters are, within their own countries, people who are legitimately fighting for freedom, while others are actively seeking to impose totalitarianism wherever they can. To a Leftist, America hating is the beginning and the end. Actors' ideologies and motives are irrelevant.
This world view is how Leftists can come out with statments that are morally blind. Many of us remember that Michael Moore compared the 9/11 killers, who dreamed of a world subordinate to sharia's brutalities,

Why would the Left spend so much time and effort on a cause (impeachment) that they know has less than a 5% chance of succeeding? The answer is that impeachment is not their real agenda. This spectacle has two primary objectives -- and both are about obstructing President Trump from getting re-elected in 2020.
First, Democrats are concerned that the President can rightfully claim several accomplishments under his watch (e.g. a booming economy). They are desperate to minimize the chances of him adding any other new successes to his resume.

The U.S. Air Force has performed a huge show of strength by launching 52 fully-armed Lightning II stealth fighters in a single wave from a base in Utah. The F-35A aircraft, which are worth a total of $4.2 billion, took off in quick succession from the Hill Air Force Base in Utah on Monday as tensions mount in the Middle East over the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Fifty two is the number of American diplomats and civilians seized by Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis, and the number of targets that Trump has threatened to strike in Iran if the regime retaliates over Soleimani's death.

President Trump is actively campaigning for reelection earlier than any incumbent in modern history, with a flurry of major events scheduled in just the first two weeks of 2020.
Previous presidents avoided the campaign trail until deep into their reelection year, milking incumbency in a bid to cultivate the image of a bipartisan policymaker untainted by ugly politics. Trump has upended that model. This month, he is headlining at least two "Keep America Great" rallies in swing states Ohio and Wisconsin, with Vice President Mike Pence headed to Florida for a bus tour and Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, campaigning in key suburban battlegrounds.

The liberal pro-Iranian mainstream media could not stop talking about the size of the crowds at the “popular” and “loved” Qassem Soleimani funeral today. The media was in awe of the number of people at Soleimani’s funeral. Mike Maleki wrote about his experience being forced to protests as a student in Iran. (Tweet/Photos) The regime was serving dinners to people who came out to the funeral. Via Ali Safavi: (Tweet/Photos) Not everyone was fooled.

This past week saw the rise of the Democrat "but" warriors. Every viable remaining presidential candidate, with the exception of Bernie Sanders, included an identical sentence construct in response to President Donald Trump's decision to erase the world's worst terrorist leader. When "but" is employed in a sentence, particularly a political one, the wise course of action is to pay little heed to what came before it. The writer's true feelings are reflected in what follows, even if he is not quite bold enough not to include a caveat. A few examples,

It is hard to understand Iran Supreme Leader Khamenei’s blunder in attacking the US Embassy in Baghdad. He either believed Trump was weakened by his impeachment, as western liberal Media breathlessly and continuously reported, or he might have been misled by John Kerry’s incompetent advice (apparently Kerry met again with Khamenei’s emissaries in Paris just few weeks ago). Whatever the reasons, his goal of triggering a limited war with America to rally his people around the regime has failed miserably.
Iran desperately wanted a war -- drone attacks on Saudi Arabia’s heart of oil production, false-flag hits on oil tankers, unrest in Yemen – all aimed at this goal.

This has been a really difficult time for Ben Rhodes, John Kerry, and the rest of the geniuses who zombie Neville Chamberlain recently hailed as “a flock of insufferable sissies crowded around the behind of America’s enemy, shamelessly smooching their dignity away.” Zapping Qassam Soleimani ruined an Iranian offensive that had started with such promise. When the dirtbag catspaws of the dirtbag Iranian mullahs surrounded the American embassy in Baghdad, American liberals were more excited than the old Weekly Standard’s staff would have been upon discovering that it was sharing one of its cruises with a pool boy and sexy gardener convention.

Pundits wrote off Sen. Bernie Sanders’s campaign back in October after his heart attack evoked the risks of nominating a candidate who would turn 80 during the first year of his presidency.
But since then, Sanders has made a remarkable comeback — and not just in terms of his health. Having climbed to second place nationally and raised a whopping $34.5 million in the fourth quarter, he now finds himself leading in New Hampshire and tied for first place in Iowa, according to the latest CBS/YouGov poll.
Perhaps Joe Biden, who enjoys much stronger support among black voters, is still in a better position to win the Democratic nomination.

Did you know that CNN has a reporter on the “disinformation” beat?
I’ll skip the cheap joke about his never having to leave the office, and note that the network is now grousing about the Christian conservative satire site the Babylon Bee, which has earned the ire of a number of liberals for making jokes at their expense.
The story drawing CNN’s outrage — “Democrats Call For Flags To Be Flown At Half-Mast To Grieve Death Of Soleimani” — is good satire. It slightly exaggerates the reaction many on the left have had to the killing of the Iranian mass murderer. Anyone who read the Washington Post’s headline

Former Sen. Joe Lieberman cautioned Democrats vying for the White House in 2020 against criticizing the airstrike ordered by President Trump that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Iraq last week.
"My final warning to my fellow Democrats: be careful what you do -- either out of a general feeling of opposition to President Trump or partisanship, thinking about the Democratic primary," Lieberman said Monday on "Your World."
"In the end, the American people are not going to vote for anyone for president who they don't think is willing to use American force to protect our security," he added.

So Meat Loaf caused a little kerfuffle this weekend by saying he thought Greta Thunberg had been "brainwashed."
I don't know why that should be a surprise, but it got me thinking about her again. I have a lot of sympathy for the kid.
For me, it started with seeing her picture. She's small, slight, even scrawny; her head looks out of proportion to her body. She's now 17 (as of 3 January) but she still looks childlike, prepubertal, younger than her 14-year-old sister. Frankly, she looks like she's been in a concentration camp: malnourished over the long term.

If you missed Ricky Gervais’ mind-blowing opening monologue at the Golden Globe Awards, then now might be a good time to fix that. If you’re conservative, or even if you’re just not a social justice warrior, chances are you’ll agree that it was the freshest breath of air that town has felt in decades.
Gervais, who was in his fifth, and allegedly final, year hosting the event, came to the point where he simply didn’t care about being nice to the hypocritical Hollywood Left crowd. The funny thing is, Gervais is anything but a man of the right. He’s a liberal, but he’s also a defender

In the torrent of idiotic commentary unleashed by the killing of Qassem Soleimani, Colin Kaepernick’s deserves a place of honor.
The NFL washout and Nike persona who makes sure the company doesn’t produce any overly patriotic sneakers tweeted: “There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks against black and brown people for the expansion of American imperialism.”
For Kaepernick, Soleimani is just another dark-skinned man brutalized by America.

“We stand by our reporting.” That phrase is a go-to in media industry public relations, unleashed when events appear to debunk an outlet’s precious scoop. It’s right up there with “We don’t comment on personnel matters” and “We don’t comment on editorial deliberations.”
And there “We stand by our reporting” was in a CNN statement to the Erik Wemple Blog, which had asked the network about its anchors’ repeated claims that the dossier compiled by former British intelligence official Christopher Steele had been corroborated to a significant degree. “Your intel community has corroborated all the details,” CNN host Alisyn Camerota told Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) in December 2017.

Newly submitted court documents link Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden, to an identity theft case from 2016 when he was allegedly being checked into an unidentified Arizona facility.
The court papers were filed Monday in an Arkansas court as part of a paternity battle over a child the Hunter Biden shares with Lunden Roberts, who met the scandal-plagued businessman at a Washington, D.C., strip club where she worked. While the question of whether or not Biden is a father is no longer an issue — a DNA test confirmed he is the baby's father — the parents

The Air Force’s F-35 operating base on Jan. 6 conducted a massive elephant walk, launching 52 jets in a row.
The Active Duty 388th and Reserve 419th Fighter Wings conducted the Combat Power Exercise to demonstrate “their ability to employ a large force of F-35As” and test the wing’s readiness for personnel accountability, aircraft generation, ground operations, flight operations, and combat capability, according to a Hill statement. The exercise had been planned for months, the base said.
Launching 52 jets simultaneously shows an improved readiness rate in the fleet, which had been lagging for years.

House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) called for Congressional hearings into Trump’s drone strike that killed top Iran commander and terrorist Qassem Soleimani.
The Democrat-led House has made it clear that they will meddle in every single foreign policy decision President Trump makes.
From Ukraine to Iran to North Korea, the legislative branch is now overreaching and claiming the President does not have the authority to call strikes against a hostile enemy.
“The president has put us on a path where we may be at war with Iran. That requires the Congress to fully engage,” Schiff told WaPo.

Ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes told investigative reporter Sara Carter that Republicans are currently investigating Intel Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson.
GOP lawmakers asked Mr. Atkinson to reveal who changed the whistleblower complaint form to allow for second-hand info and office gossip.
“We’ve mentioned it, but I think people have just kind of ignored it because, of course, we don’t have the subpoena power, so we can’t bring Atkinson back in but he’s got serious questions to answer for because I believe that he either lied to Congress or he really needs to correct his statements and he’s refused to respond,” said Nunes,

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) announced on Friday if Democrats DO NOT deliver their articles of impeachment to the US Senate as is required by the US Constitution he will introduce a measure to dismiss Pelosi’s slapdash articles of impeachment on Monday January 6th.
Nancy Pelosi was on notice
She had three days to decide but did not act.
Senator Hawley, the former Attorney General in Missouri, tweeted this warning out on Thursday.
Senator Josh Hawley: Dems said impeachment was URGENT. Now they don’t want to have a trial, because they have no evidence. In real world, if prosecution doesn’t proceed with case, it gets dismissed. So on Monday,

Romney told reporters at the Capitol that he wants to hear from Bolton and find out “what he knows” about Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
“I would like to be able to hear from John Bolton. What the process is to make that happen, I don’t have an answer for you,” he added.

On January 17, 2016, a cargo plane with $400 million in foreign currencies was secretly sent to Iran in the dead of night.
US officials held the ransom cash until US hostages were released on the tarmac. It was a ransom payment.
Two days after Obama sent Iran the ransom cash the US government wired 13 individual payments for $99,999,999.99 , each with an independent MICR, totaling $1,299,999,999.87.
Already the cash from Obama’s ransom payment to Iran has been traced to terrorist groups in the region.
This past weekend Democrats attacked President Trump after the president called a strike on Iran’s number one terrorist Qassim Soleimani.
