Sure, most of us can't afford a $600,000 condo in a trendy neighborhood, in one of the most expensive places to live in the country. But if you're homeless in Los Angeles, a condo can be yours!
The new condo development is the first of 118 projects to be built over the next six years to house the homeless and other needy people in Los Angeles, California, according to the mayor's office.(Snip for tweet) There are studio apartments and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with decent-sized kitchens. The first recipient of a $600,000 condo was a family with five children:

I wonder what these things will look like six months after these homeless move in. I suspect they'll look a lot like the sidewalks in L.A.

I would love to read the bid specs. Because anywhere else, that would be a 35-50k condo.

Looks like school teachers and first responders should claim to be homeless. Because they probably don't pay them enough to afford a half-million plus apartment.

And who is going to pay the yearly tax bill? The groceries, clothing, health bills, utilities, furniture etc. etc. etc. And Bloomberg thinks CA is a model for the country. Dear Lord protect us from the loons.

For starters, we should stop calling them HOMELESS. We need to call them what they are: drug addicts, alcoholics and mentally ill. While I am sure there are people that are homeless for other reasons, the majority fall into one or more of the 3 categories.

Now, you understand why the problem has festered for so long - they needed to figure out which of their campaign donors would get the bid, and develop the project.
And, they're trying to figure out how to create a massive new government program to manage this program, maintenance, replacements, etc....
Just East of downtown, there is the old Sears building, which likely could be converted in quick fashion to house thousands of homeless, and they could install a clinic at the bottom, or in the old parking lot to ensure they could have access to health services. But, they won't do it, they need an expensive program to enrich their friends, and create more government employees - not solve the problems.
Many city streets are lined, bumper-to-bumper with old motor homes, and cars, where people are now living and disposing of their waste and trash.

What's the over and under Vegas line on how long it will take for these condos to become projects? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years? 6 months?

It’s a regular odyssey California has embarked on. It’s almost as if the leadership wants to herd and concentrate people into human versions of chicken coops starting with the broken down from around the hemisphere. When taxpayers who are barely breaking even themselves are taxed so much that they are unable to afford their own homes, well, then what? Ho ho! There will be coops for them too. And so on and so on up the socioeconomic ladder. And I have a few questions. When people live in these “apartments” can they smoke? Can they barbecue? Can they eat beef whenever they want? Is there school choice? Can they own cars that aren’t electric? Or own cars at all? Can they travel freely? Can they regulate their own thermostats? How many people/bedroom? How many families/apartment? Can residents keep firearms? Register as Republicans? Live in peace and quiet, free from noise and crime? Will a

How in the heck did this family end up with FIVE children and no where to live? I would say there were some poor Life choices involved. Poor kids. I see daddy is wearing an IQ reducer (ball cap on backwards).

Cont’d - resident be allowed to move out? Become independent of the system? Will government leaders live in the same coops under the same rules as non-government officials? Lastly, why are California’s leaders enticing the homeless and criminal to come to their state?

Build it and they will come. If CA thinks their homeless population is exploding now, wait until the leeches get bus tickets from every state and decide to move there.

So suddenly these chronically unemployed homeless addicts are going to come up with $400 a month to pay rent? Unless that is also handed out to them as welfare there are going to be eviction notices on these condos in 90 days. Then what? Put them back on the street? Liberalism is a bottomless pit of stupidity.
