WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he has secured the Republican votes needed to start President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial and postpone a decision on witnesses or documents that Democrats want. McConnell is expected to launch the third impeachment trial in the nation’s history as soon as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sends the articles of impeachment to the Senate. She is set to meet late Tuesday with her leadership team. “We have the votes,” McConnell told reporters.

Whatever.
Should be over in a day.
No harm, no foul.
No Federal Statute named as violated.
Large bunch of effluent.

“Whoever heard of a trial without witnesses and documents?” says Chuck U Schumer.
Well, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and Jerry Nadler.

If House managers are not present and ready on the first day of trial, there will be a motion to dismiss.

Start without her if she won't send them over.
One hour is all this is worth.
McConnell should say something like:
"Since the House refuses to deliver the impeachment, the Senate will not accept any impeachment documents after Jan. 9, 12 midnight. After that time, the Senate declares the process null and void."

Mitch, demand evidence. There was one man who 'presumed' that PDT meant something but there was no proof. Is a presumption the same as an assumption? We all know what it means to 'assume.'
Mitch, ask this man (under oath) if his presumption is a fact....or a fantasy.

Mitch is a slickster and a backstabbing snake in the grass. I do not trust him. He has the chance to do the right thing and end thins thing dead in its tracks since he "has enough votes". Romney Collins and Murkowski and several other deep-state Rino's are out there ready to sabotage the whole thing. My bet is Her Imperial Highness The Queen of the Universe Nasty Pignasty will not send the articles over at which point the whole thing is dead as soon as Mitch can stop drooling and do what's got to be done to make it so.

Does anyone really think Bolton WON'T testify? Once the witnesses start, it will never end.

Probably never happen. McConnell allows witnesses. Trump orders witnesses to no testify based on Executive privilage. Subpoenas go to court. Meanwhile, McConnell holds the Senate in trial mode, including the House managers 6 days a week doing nothing as the trial is ongoing but awaiting the Judical branche's final decision. All those Dem nutjobs running for president are stuck in the senate. The House managers can't do a thing. McConnell can open everday with some good old fashion Dem bashing. THe House and Senate are essentailly shutdwon and can't cause anymore damage to the country. Dems primary screwed up, House managers screwed over, and Americans safe for abrief perios from Congress. Trump can campaign and bash the impeachment counts to the red meat base while nothing happens. Win - win to me.

I think the Capitol should be closed to visitors during this Impeachment Fiasco. Keep out the protesters who only want to scream and yell and shut things down, not to mention threaten the Senators in the Hallways and Rest Rooms. Keep them out!

Evidence/witnesses? How can there be a trial with no crimes?

The Democrats are leading the Senate around on a leash. The virus was in the House, now it is in the Senate, and McConnell allowed it in. The Democrats have succeeded in bringing Congress to a standstill, nothing happening but Trump all day, every day. McConnell's press conference today was disgusting appeasement. Conservatives have only one person that uses power when entrusted, and that is Trump. We certainly have nothing from Graham but tough talk on Sunday Morning Futures, where I plead with Maria not to allow this do nothing on again, especially every Sunday to tell us nothing. And our Republican AG office has not indicted a single person in 3 years. We are told maybe later this year, that would be 4 years wasted. McConnell thinks his job is to chuckle, I guess, that is what he does.
