November 9 marks the 81st anniversary of the first day of Kristallnacht, also known as the "night of broken glass." For nearly a week, the Nazi Sturmabteilung paramilitary forces carried out a pogrom against Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues and properties across Germany and related territories; 267 synagogues and 7,000 businesses were damaged or destroyed, and 30,000 Jewish men were incarcerated in concentration camps. There was another sinister motive equal to the anti-Semitism: gun control. What many don't know is, weeks before, the Nazis had disarmed the Jews whom they terrorized; they knew who had firearms because of a compulsory, pre-Nazi gun registry created a decade earlier.

How do you explain that so many Americans want socialism? I can't. It makes no sense if you understood the truth about socialism, as Victor Davis Hanson wrote: Multiple forms of socialism, from hard Stalinism to European redistribution, continue to fail. Russia and China are still struggling with the legacy of genocidal communism. Eastern Europe still suffers after decades of Soviet-imposed socialist chaos. Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea and Venezuela are unfree, poor and failed states. Baathism -- a synonym for pan-Arabic socialism -- ruined the postwar Middle East. The soft-socialist European Union countries are stagnant and mostly dependent

Former U.S. President Donald Trump adviser Charles Kupperman’s lawsuit asking the courts whether he should testify in the House impeachment probe forced Democrats to rescind their subpoena. “The subpoena at issue in this matter has been withdrawn, and there is no current intention to reissue it,” Democrats wrote in court filings, the Hill reported. On October 25, Kupperman, who served as a top aide for White House national security adviser John Bolton at the White House National Security Council (NSC), filed a lawsuit essentially asking the courts to rule on whether he should abide by the House Democrat’s subpoena, citing concerns that his testimony would inflict

House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) on Friday sent a letter to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) requesting that the House Intelligence Committee chairman testify as part of the impeachment inquiry. In the letter, Nunes argued that Schiff should testify in lieu of the “whistleblower,” since the “whistleblower” went to Schiff’s staff before filing his complaint and since Schiff will not let the whistleblower testify. In his letter to Schiff, Nunes wrote: As the American public is now aware, in August 2019, you and/or your staff met with or talked to the whistleblower who raised an issue with President Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky.   Byline and source corrected.  Please proofread posts before submitting.

For decades ABC and other media outlets have hidden the truth about the serial abuse of women and young girls by the powerful Clintons, Weinstein and Epstein. The cover-up was to protect the Clintons from scrutiny as they sought to elect and reelect Bill and to put the corrupt Hillary in the White House in 2016. All these people pretending to be journalists didn’t care about all the women who were physically and mentally abused. Now, with the “Me Too Movement,” we are told they really care, but only some of the time. How many women and young girls have been abused by powerful men while the media looked

As Rep. Adam Schiff’s “sentence first, trial later” show trial of President Donald J. Trump reaches a so-called public hearing phase, we find the weaver of fables dictating what witnesses the GOP will be permitted to call based on a set of three qualifying question they must answer in advance. These questions ask, essentially, if the witnesses believe President Trump is guilty of pressuring Ukraine to dig up dirt on the Bidens in exchange for military aid. The GOP, it seems, will not be allowed to call witnesses who have testimony or evidence to the contrary, that there was no pressure and no quid pro quo.

Sean Spicer is cruising through “Dancing with the Stars” on two left feet. He’s certainly not surviving on the merits of his dancing, and I’m not sure it’s his natural charm, either. So what’s the deal with Spicey’s surge? It’s Trump, of course. For one thing, the president of the United States has been using his leader-of-the-free-world sized platform to get out the vote. That helps. But it’s also the affiliation. For many, a vote for Spicer is a vote for Trump, and sometimes a vote for Trump is a vote against the haters. Who, exactly, are the haters? The show’s host. The judges. ABC News staffers. The New York Times’

It’s been a very good year for Tiger Woods. He just won his 82nd tournament, moving into a tie for all-time first place, and while he is also second in major victories to only Jack Nicklaus, he closed that gap too with a dramatic comeback win at the Masters. Now Tiger is stalking Jack in another profession, course design. Admittedly Nicklaus has a much bigger lead here, having done over 400 courses to Tiger’s handful—most of which are in far-flung parts of the world and still quite a ways from their grand openings. But in this case it looks like Tiger might actually be off to the better start:

The next time you are talking to a Washington reporter, make sure he is not colluding with the FBI. Otherwise you could have big problems, the way Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, did following a meeting four Associated Press reporters had with Andrew Weisman, then chief of the Justice Department’s Criminal Fraud Section, and other FBI agents. It was at this April 2017 meeting that the Washington AP reporters provided the FBI with information about Manafort, including the code of a locker that Manafort maintained at a storage facility in Virginia. Two months later, prosecutor Weissman, a Hillary Clinton supporter, went to work for Robert Mueller’s Russian

House Democrats are signaling they are now on a fast-track in their impeachment proceedings, avoiding court battles that could delay their inquiry and limiting the number of witnesses at public hearings -- all signs that President Donald Trump could be impeached as soon as next month. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not shared her thinking on the final timeline with her colleagues, and Democratic sources say the timing is still fluid and could continue to evolve.
