Tehran - In what appears to be China bowing down to US sanctions, Beijing's state oil company on Sunday pulled out of a USD 5 billion deal to develop of Iran's massive offshore natural gas field.
The South Pars field deal was signed in 2017 between China National Petroleum Company (CNPC), Iranian PetroPars and France's Total SA. Notably, Total SA earlier withdrew in light of US President Donald Trump sanctions in 2018.
Iran Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said that the China National Petroleum Corp was "no longer in the project", reported Tasmin News Agency.
The minister did not give any specific reason for China's withdrawal.

In an unusual move, Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Thursday ordered the White House to preserve records of President Trump’s dealings with foreign leaders. A search-and-rescue team discovered a dog alive under a pile of debris in the Bahamas, more than three weeks after Hurricane Dorian struck the islands.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue, which is a South Florida-based rescue operation, used a drone with infrared heat-seeking technology to find the animal hidden under piles of air conditioning units in Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas. [Tweet]

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has launched an ad on social media with a message that he will end the impeachment effort against President Donald Trump should the House pass Articles of Impeachment and send them to the upper chamber.
“Nancy Pelosi is in the clutches of a leftwing mob,” McConnell said in a fundraising video on his re-election campaign Facebook page. “They finally convinced her to impeach the president.”

Two gunmen entered a Kansas City, Kansas, bar early Sunday and shot nine people, killing four of them, according to Kansas City, Kansas, police. The Democrats’ punch-drunk base has demanded that President Donald Trump be impeached ever since the 2016 election when they suffered a knock-out in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and then went down again in the recounts.
Then they couldn’t turn the Electoral College rogue, and failed with something called the Emoluments Clause, and botched their smears of Trump’s judges and couldn’t convince anyone that the new first lady is last and the last first lady is first.
Of course, they attempted all that not for the purpose of succeeding, but for the purpose of making them feel virtuous. That’s what they do.
A British court recently ruled against Dr. David Mackereth, a disability assessor who was fired from the United Kingdom’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) last year for refusing to use transgender pronouns. The DWP had asked Dr. Mackereth, “What would you do if you were to assess someone who is obviously a man but asks to be referred to as ‘she’ or ‘Missis’ in the report?” Mackereth replied that, as a Christian, he wouldn’t comply with the request. He was summarily sacked.
Dr. Mackereth then hired the Christian Legal Centre (CLC) to represent him in a lawsuit filed against the DWP for religious discrimination.

I have never seen anything like the apparently crazed condition of Democrats.

Either way, it’s a catastrophe. According to Team Trump, Nancy Pelosi was greeted by at least 300 Trump supporters while attending a fundraiser at the Greenville, South Carolina Hyatt Regency on Friday. The Speaker was confronted by a sea of MAGA caps, “Impeach Pelosi” signs, and at least one woman draped in a “Women for Trump” banner and wearing a Pelosi mask. (A degrading task, but somebody had to do it.)
This is unusual for Republicans, who have traditionally maintained a live and let live policy toward the Democrats no matter what the circumstances.

On what else are the Democrats sitting? That’s a question at this stage of the impeachment of President Trump. Their premeditation in respect of Ukraine was illuminated in a brilliant column by Kimberly Strassel that runs in Friday’s Wall Street Journal under the headline “Schiff’s Shifty Timeline.” It turns out that the House Intelligence Committee chairman knew about the whistleblower before any whistle was blown — and he sat on it.
That is starting to look like the Democrats’ modus operandi. The idea would be to more effectively set up the President. We gained a classic glimpse of the m.o. during the confirmation hearing of Justice Kavanaugh.

To be sure, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is a very powerful government official: second in the line of succession to the presidency; arguably, the most powerful member of Congress. She wields decisive influence on the business of her chamber.

The City of Portland has banned urinals in the $195 million remodel of the Portland Building, which houses administrative offices for the city. While urinals use less water than toilets, they are a relic of a bygone era when men and women were recognized as biologically different.
A spokeswoman told NBC affiliate KGW News that she could not estimate how much it will cost to remove the urinals, which have been a feature of the building since its construction in 1982.
Chief Administrative Officer Tom Rinehart explained the urinal ban in an email to employees last February.
Enough is enough. Every day — every few hours, seemingly — more evidence is uncovered revealing that President Trump is abusing the power of the presidency and is wholly unfit to be president. The president’s most recent violation of the rule of law — openly calling for China to interfere in our elections, as he stood on the South Lawn of the White House — is so outrageous, it’s clear he considers the presidency a free pass to do whatever he wants, with no accountability.
California has a homelessness crisis, but Californians don’t agree about what it is.
To homeless advocates, social service providers, many politicians and most journalists, it’s a humanitarian problem — a social tragedy of rapidly increasing numbers of men, women and families living without shelter, vulnerable to crime, disease and degradation. This state of affairs, they believe, is a “moral disaster.”
For pedestrians pushed into the street by blocked sidewalks, women afraid of unruly men screaming obscenities, patio diners beset by panhandlers and homeowners discovering human feces in their yards, it’s an environmental catastrophe — the neighborhood equivalent of an oil spill.
The standard lines from Democrats about Hunter Biden and his business dealings in China and Ukraine have been consistent: Donald Trump has abused the office of the president by asking foreign leaders to investigate Biden’s son, and there is absolutely no proof that either Joe or Hunter Biden have done anything to break the law. Any questionable dealings by Biden’s son also pale in comparison to ethical breaches on the part of Ivanka, Eric or Donald Trump Jr, who have routinely blurred the lines between the extended Trump Organization – the family’s business empire –and their presence in the White House.
On the same day last week, The New York Times editorial page and The New Yorker magazine used the same word to reach the same conclusion: Both declared that President Trump was self-impeaching.
They insisted the president’s public invitation for China as well as Ukraine to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden was making it easier for Democrats to draw up impeachment articles. Both publications were horrified at Trump’s gall, with The New Yorker lamenting his lack of “restraints” and the Times bemoaning his “assault on democratic norms.”
