Florida trappers have captured a record-setting 98-pound Burmese python that's over 18 feet long. Couple Cynthia Downer and Jonathan Lopez caught the massive beast on September 22 at the Big Cypress National Preserve in Ochopee, Florida. The two were a part of the Python Action Team, a group of trappers removing the invasive snakes from the Everglades. The female python measured 18 feet 4 inches (5.58 meters) and weighed a whopping 98 pounds 10 ounces.

Hope they didn't just throw that big beautiful snake skin away. They need to find somebody to make about a dozen pairs of boots, belts and britches.

The are “nut jobs” in the area there would want to take that big snake home as a family pet, and that would include adults with children. Oh well, ten percent never get the word!

Why are they being captured? Kill them on the spot. A 12 gauge shotgun blast to their head will do it.

I used to go looking for snakes with my brother when we were kids, of course, they were harmless, one being a water snake on Cape Cod which we brought home and put in Mom's bathtub. She hated snakes (which I only learned as a teenager). Now I can't stand the sight of one.

The python invasion of Florida began because idiots had to have a python as a pet. When these snakes get too big, the idiots let them go into swamp. Now these things are killing native animals and cats and dogs. Even alligators. When they start attacking and killing humans, the real crisis will begin.

We are currently vacationing in Key Largo, going to spend a few days at Key West tomorrow. I didn't need to read this story tonight. {{{ Shudder }}} I can't abide anything that hisses and slithers.

My son tells me not to kill any 'King' snakes when I find them around the home place, but my problem is, I don't study them long enough to know what they are. I basically live by the motto, "The only good snake, is a dead snake!"

Bad policy to just kill every snake you encounter. They are needed for rodent and bug control, even the poisonous ones. Best to just leave them be and go on your way, while they go theirs.

Hell, #4, a .22 pistol shot to the head will do it if you are any kind of a decent shot.
Kill every darned one of these monsters.

Bad motto, #11. 90% or so of snakes are harmless to people, eat rodents. I want the rodents eaten.
I suggest people spend a few minutes learning to ID the very few poisonous snakes in their area and leave the others alone. Unless you love rats and mice in your house.

The trappers should have released the snake in congress and let it do its work.
