“A gas shortage threatens the Long Island region,” bleat six Long Island state senators, all Democrats, in a letter pleading for approval of a pipeline proposed to fix the problem—belatedly admitting that the policies they’ve long favored don’t work for their own constituents. This year, Sens. Todd Kaminsky, John Brooks, James Gaughran, Anna Kaplan, Monica Martinez and Kevin Thomas all voted for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Green New Deal law, whose very purpose is to further crimp energy supplies, and for a $100 million hike in taxes on energy. And, as Senate GOP leader John Flanagan (their fellow Long Islander) notes,

I still find it stunning that all but the most radical greenies would oppose a natural gas pipeline. Energy is what undergirds any modern society. All-electric utilities are terribly expensive and less efficient.

Liberals are a 'pathetic pack of hypocrites', to paraphrase from the article. Vote for the Green New Deal? Restrict pipeline construction in favor of heavily-subsidized renewable energy? Sure thing!
Until they themselves feel the consequences of their policies i.e. NO new customers from National Grid, super-high bills, etc., then they have their come-to-Jesus-moment. Then liberals suddenly morph into conservatives-when they're the one's on the hook.

Typical. Gov. creates problem, business warns gov of what is going to happen. Business follows through w/ warning, gov. blames business. Rinse and repeat.

Suck it up, freezing in the dark is the platform that the Greenie-Weenie Ecofascists ran on, and it is what they are busily arranging.
Trillions of cubic feet of cheap natural gas out there now, thanks to advanced directional drilling, hydro-fracturing and other advanced extraction technologies (all developed in the good ole US of A).
But, if you would RATHER freeze in the dark, please, be my guest. Personally, I won't be doing it.

The more progressive democrats become the more they look like the middle ages. Bring on the wood burning stoves and whale oil.

Oh, NO, #6, wood burning stoves are already banned in many areas.....too polluting. And many current production wood stoves have weird 'catalytic' elements added. Since my wood stove in Colorado predates this "more enlightened" style, I have no direct experience. But, I will bet that like most other "green improvements" it works badly and costs a lot extra.
But, regardless of the type of woodstove, in various areas, no wood burning is permitted, either ever or for part of the year (probably "winter").

A quick search:
Wood burning stoves banned in Canada, and the article mentions the same in the USA. EPA had floated a rule to ban all wood burning stoves in 2013, but I wonder if that is now on hold.
They will hunt you down if smoke comes out of your chimney, and yet, they want to block all natural gas pipelines, too.
"When we say 'Freeze in the dark' - we mean it!" - seems to be their motto. No cheating and staying warm with a nice wood fire.

The search turned up many stories on banning wood stoves in Britain, too.

I'm amazed that there are no "it's those Californians moving in" posts. Well at least the damn yankees do take ownership of their choices. Texans don't.

They were against the pipeline before they were for it. The elites bask in comfort while the masses freeze in the dark, put on another sweater, another blanket; it's what Green is all about. Own it.
