UC Santa Cruz has announced that it will remove historic bells from the “Spanish Missions” after members of the community called them offensive. According to a report by Campus Reform, the University of California, Santa Cruz, will remove a major historical artifact from campus. The reason? Many in the UC Santa Cruz community argued that the artifact is offensive. The “Spanish Mission” bells were used between 1769 and 1833 to highlight the path of the 21 California Missions, which were constructed to evangelize Native Americans. Seven bikers were killed when a pickup towing a flatbed trailer plowed into a group of 10 motorcyclists from a club for Marine Corps veterans, their spouses and supporters as they rode to a charity event in New Hampshire on Friday night. Three others were hospitalized and the dead victims were believed to include include five Marine veterans and two others from the Jarheads Motorcycle Club. The accident happened on a two-lane highway near Randolph, New Hampshire, when the bikers were en route to the American Legion #82 in Gorham, New Hampshire.
