MARRAKESH, Morocco — Their screams must have carried for miles in the thin air of the Atlas Mountains, anguished sounds of a terrorist attack that no one was there to hear, see or stop.
Maren Ueland, 28, and Louisa Jespersen, 24, Scandinavian students who revered the outdoors, were descending North Africa’s highest peak in December when they encountered four men searching for Westerners to kill.
The men waited until after nightfall, then approached the women’s tent with knives and misplaced hopes of becoming Islamist heroes. They attacked Ueland, a Norwegian, and her Danish friend, Jespersen, in their sleeping bags, stabbed them until their bodies went limp

Only took nearly two years for you guys to spill the details of this ghastly act. Oh that's right, you were too busy trying to destroy our president.

Article took forever to get through, and if you do manage to get through it, you'll find no surprises its from the left-wing Compost. Yes, its difficult to have sympathy for two Western women hiking alone in a relatively unstable muslim country. With no male companions nor guides in site, they supplied an easy target for the islamists. Nevertheless, the lefty Compost recounts the horrific events in a very 'matter-of-fact' tone, but saves its real anger and criticism for: those evil right wingers. Yes, somehow the commies at the Post decided the attackers were only misguided, but the real bad guys are the right wingers calling for revenge over this. One can only hope these delusional Westerners will learn that going to a muslim country for any reason is not a good idea, especially tourists.
Save yourselves, save your families the pain of your deaths. There are far more beautiful (and safer) mountains to climb in Europe. But somehow, the naivete towards muzzies will not dissipate despite this horrific murder.

ISIS wannabes murdered two women in Morocco. The right wing is deplorable. And Trump.
There, I saved you some time.

I can't decide where to vacation this year. The choice is down to Morocco, the Dominican Republic or the border area of China and North Korea.

I don’t understand folks who are still shocked every time a herd of liberals wake up dead after visiting some 3rd world Muslim crap hole. This ain’t rocket science - if it’s Muslim don’t go there.

This is what thousands of years of inbreeding get you. Yes, Muslims do marry into their own families, it is permitted in the Koran and the Sura. The Muslim population is actually devolving, full of genetic idiots.

"Within days, the one-minute, 16-second recording spread rapidly across networks associated with the far-right and white-nationalist movements.".... "Right-wing activists also began promoting the video — or images from it — on their own platforms. Among the most prominent was “Resett,” a Norwegian website that is the country’s closest equivalent to Breitbart in the United States." This pretty well summarizes WaPo's gruesome story.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. In C. S. Lewis "the Final Battle", people who have turned their backs on God when faced with evil refuse to acknowledge it. When salvation presents itself they, in their blindness, refuse to accept and acknowledge it. I am reminded of this every time I see or hear some blind guide trying to excuse or equate two points of view, diametrically opposed as being the same. People who proclaim the truth about Islam, truth that history records and proves, are equal to those within Islam, admittedly a minority but a minority supported by a majority within Islam, who commit true acts of evil. Yes individuals in opposition to Islam occasionally resort to violence, and yes the majority of Islamists don't kill innocent women, consider though the announcements about western prostitutes by the Islamic State. How can you in the west blindly standby as your nations are infiltrated by a philosophic/theology that is counter to all that is good within the West.

Did I miss something or do the writers sound sympathetic to the killers?

From Souad Mekhennet’s Wiki page:
Mekhennet was born in 1978, the daughter of a Turkish mother and a Moroccan father; she grew up principally in Germany, but spent some years of her childhood in Morocco.[1][2] She attended the Henri Nannen School for Journalism in Hamburg and the Johann-Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt.[3]
Since 9/11, Mekhennet has covered conflicts and terrorist attacks in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.[citation needed] She was one of two Times reporters who published the first story on Khaled el-Masri, a German citizen, who was detained, flown to Afghanistan, interrogated and allegedly tortured by the CIA for several months. She also worked on the series Inside the Jihad, published between 2007 and 2008, in which she and her colleague Michael Moss interviewed various jihadist leaders, including the head of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
Tell me which way she leans...

Let's hope that a few Europeans will be moved to understand that these 7th century barbarians are an existential threat and DO something about it.
Sad, disgusting story, like many hundreds of thousands over the last 1400 years, of the evil of Islam.

#13, my take exactly. It was nauseating how sympathetic this article was to the killers and any anger or opposition was called right wing. What a bizarre world we live in: good is bad, and bad is good.

The article goes something like this. These wannabe virgin seekers are kinda bad cause they chopped off the heads of two woman who had the temerity to go on an adventure. One was alive when they did it. The other may have been unconscious, but I digress. The villain they continually refer to after describing these acts are those crazy right wingers who actually bring attention to this brutal crime. How dare they take advantage of this situation. REPEAT. REPEAT.
