Biden Was More Than ‘Civil’ With
Segregationists. He Was An Ally

Presidential hopeful Joe Biden got himself into trouble this week defending his relationship with pro-segregationist senators James O. Eastland of Mississippi and Herman Talmadge of Georgia at New York fundraiser. “At least there was some civility,”(Snip) His early interactions can be more accurately described as obsequious. Biden hadn’t negotiated with political rivals to push bipartisan policy. He had worked with members of his own party—run by men who placed him in positions of power—on issues they agreed on.
Judging from the Senate transcripts and interviews of the time, it’s clear that Biden was an all-star opportunist.
The truth is that politicians say and do whatever gets them in power and keeps them in power. If they stay around long enough, what worked in the past will hurt them in the present. Imagine in the future some of these idiots trying to stay elected when they pull out their old quotes about global warming.

Harsanyi does not just toss stuff out. He documents what he’s talking about:
In 1973, Democratic Party leadership was teeming with unsavory Southern senators. If a freshman like Biden—who in a 1974 Time magazine profile admitted “to being compulsively ambitious”—wanted a plum committee position, he would be compelled to approach someone like J. William Fulbright, chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, a segregationist and anti-Semite who would later become a mentor to the Clintons. (Bill awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1993 and Hillary still had her name on a shared fellowship in 2016—although no one seemed to mind very much).
And if Biden wanted to be on the judiciary committee, he would have to get along with Eastland, the “Voice of the White South,” who was chair and president pro tempore of the Senate. The stories about their chummy relationship aren’t new; Biden has been repeating them for decades.

Biden is a prevaricator, a mendicant, and an execrable SOB - and he always has been.

Self-immolation is not fun to watch, especially when your "friends" provide the gasoline.

Do the Democrat presidential candidates get to keep their fundraising stash if they drop out or are eliminated?
Gillibrand, Biden, and the other clowns come to mind. None but one will probably win, but could the rest become instant millionaires?

I won’t ever support Joe Biden, can’t abide the man.
However, given how black-white relations have devolved since Obama was elected, and with the brazen black racialism cheered on by the Democrats and their media, I will not hold Biden’s relationships with segregationalists against him.
That may be Biden’s best attribute.

It's worth noting that Congress was heavily Democrat at that time. Biden didn't have to hang out with segregationists since there were plenty of others on his side of the aisle. He chose to be chummy with them for quick political gain.

Interesting how rarely it's mentioned that ALL those pro-segregation Senators were Democrats. (Both MSNBC and NBC this past week called them Republicans.) An unspoken argument shared by Biden's opponents is that Biden's working with pro-segregationist senators means he'd actually try to work with...Republicans. And that's not allowed!

C'mon, folks. What possible difference could it make to Biden's campaign? He is in it just for the laughs and the hope he would shake a few of the nuttier squirrels out of the tree. It's the suit they wanted along with his long term membership in Democratomania - he is supposed to be thought of as a moderate and an insider...a connected guy. But, without the Obama endorsement, to the lefty crazy people, he is just another crazy old man with a D on his pajamas, padding around the floor in his pink and blue slippers holding his soggy donuts and declaring he is the next President of the USA- Franklin Roosevelt! Uncontrollably shouting out every once in awhile - "Those damned Nazis!".

Seems he's been given a "pass" by John Lewis and Jim Clyburn.
Why?
The Democrats want to win so badly, they will do, say, and not talk about, anything. And, since Obama picked him as VP, they can't turn on Biden, or it might taint Obama (who was raised in elite environment and went to prestigious schools most of his life) in some way.

If Joseph Biden survives and is nominated by the leftist and liberal Democrats, as the election grows near, will fraudulently portray himself as being more conservative than President Trump, who has already started to backdown on issues important to his conservative base. Biden knows that he will be able to defeat Trump if he can find a way to turn a good number of the “Deplorable” working class white voters who voted for Trump last time around, back to the Democrats, who as the election grows near will present themselves as being a reasonable alternative to an of control Trump and the do nothing Republican Senate. Biden will change his stripes to suit any audience that he addresses, and will fraudulently claim to support political positions that he will drop like hot potatoes once elected. Biden’s long DC Swamp Rat political career shows that.

Why would any "deplorable" switch from Trump to Biden when this nation has enjoyed such good turn around from the last administration? I gotta job, I'm off food stamps, my 401K has doubled... what's not to like? Biden reminds me of a carnival "film-flam" man selling bottles of magic potion that is totally inert.
