SAF Warns Virgin Islands Lawmakers to

The US Virgin Islands is one of the most anti-gun territories in the United States. They seem to have no respect for gun rights, with might not be relevant if they weren't a US territory and thus subject to the Constitution. I'm not sure the lawmakers there really seem to understand that, though, with their history of gun-grabbing, but it doesn't make it any less true. And they're at it again, this time with a bill containing numerous provisions, including a "vampire rule." That's led the Second Amendment Foundation to tell them they really should back off on that. A family member had a long career as a airline pilot for a major US air carrier. Choosing to explore the Caribbean islands by selecting flights to these vacation destinations allowed at least half a day, often a day at each location between arriving flights and the next departure. The bottom line after a number of years doing this, and getting very familiar with all these places is ......"just another third world sh**hole with a beach". Having sailed with friends to many of the Bahamas out islands and spent weeks enjoying the snorkeling, fishing and just beach relaxation ....ALL away from the resorts, out in the tiny communities, it isn't far off. I spent a number of weekends in St. Thomas in the late 70s and while it is nice to look at, and has a few good beaches, I tired of it quickly and everyone there is working hard to separate you from your dollars, to the point, all too often, of it being quite irritating. That they don't like our Second Amendment freedoms does not surprise in the slightest. And you won't be hunting there, unless you want to shoot the ubiquitous and annoying iguanas, but self defense isn't a bad idea at all.

Since the New Yorkers discovered the Virgin Islands and invaded them, the islands have been fraught with crime. I lived in Puerto Rico many years ago and went to St Thomas frequently. It was very safe then and had few NYC terrorists living there.

Re #2, I used to work in PR for a couple of weeks at a time. My company would let me take comp time for working weekends, which we had to do, so after two weeks on site, me and another engineer would pay our own way to St. Thomas for a few days. Dirt cheap flights on DC-3s from St. Thomas to San Juan. It was cool flying in those old beasties from WW2, still making airliner runs in the mid to late 1970s. And St. Thomas was pretty safe then. I haven't been recently. Back then I enjoyed watching the interisland airline take off with frequent small amphibious flying boat aircraft in St. Thomas harbor. The airline was owned by the husband of Maureen O'Hara. They were old Grumman Goose aircraft. That was a long time ago.

The Department of the Interior has terminated 43 partnerships with outside organizations that it says no longer align with the Trump administration’s priorities, eliminating more than $4 million in planned funding for programs tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion; environmental justice; and services for illegal immigrants. Led by Secretary Doug Burgum, the department determined the agreements were “operating in direct opposition” to its mission, according to a press release obtained by Fox News Digital.

For all of my adult life, I have believed that free markets incentivize innovation, generate lower costs, and improve services. Indeed, confidence in the value of free markets is one of the foundations of conservatism, and why I align with the Republican Party. I have also always felt that conservatives need to be on the lookout for industries that try to co-opt the free market movement, to take advantage of their customers, and do so under the guise of competition. Giving customers options is a good thing, but only if they actually deliver innovations, better services, and lower prices.

There is a certain seductive logic to watching your rival gain advantage through state support and concluding that you should respond in kind. Across the American political spectrum, from think tanks like the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation to conservatives who once treated “picking winners” as a term of derision, industrial policy has staged a remarkable comeback. The pitch is straightforward enough: if Beijing is subsidizing its way to dominance in semiconductors, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing, surely Washington cannot afford to stand on free-market principles while the factories disappear. It is a compelling story, and it is also, on closer inspection, largely a myth.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a top contender to be the Democratic Party nominee for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, has a history of downplaying the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood — now designated a terrorist group by the U.S. — and even defended a brazen power grab by the Islamist group’s leader during the Brotherhood’s brief reign in Egypt. El-Sayed, who is seeking to be the first Muslim in the U.S. Senate, signed onto a 2012 statement which defended the Muslim Brotherhood’s rule of Egypt and further defended a massive power grab by Mohammed Morsi, the leader of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood.

Keep in mind the FISA (702) extension already passed the House, and the bill is sitting in the Senate where the ever-predictable John Thune is not bringing it up for a vote. This morning the House tried to pass a short-term FISA (702) extension for three weeks (ending July 2). The measure failed by a vote of 218 to 198. In addition to Democrats, nineteen republicans also voted against it. The Democrats are claiming their lack of support surrounds the appointment of Bill Pulte as Acting DNI effective June 19, and their concern that Pulte will weaponize the FISA (702) authority to conduct political surveillance.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced Thursday that the Trump administration has located 146,000 unaccompanied migrant children who were trafficked into the United States during the Biden administration and subsequently lost. During a news conference at the Department of Justice with Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and other Trump administration officials, Mullin credited a joint effort between DHS, ICE and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for finding the missing children, which he said President Trump has made a high priority. Unfortunately, nearly 300,000 minors remain unaccounted for, according to Mullin, although officials continue to search for them.N

Hamas is not agreeing to disarm. It is bargaining. The Cairo meetings reportedly focused heavily on what mediators described as the "restriction of weapons" rather than outright disarmament. Some proposals reportedly envision Hamas and other armed groups "depositing" weapons with Palestinian authorities or placing them under international supervision. This brush-off alone should convince Washington that the current strategy of negotiating with Hamas, as with Iran, is failing. The notion that Hamas would voluntarily surrender the means that allow it to dominate the Gaza Strip, intimidate Palestinians, and wage jihad (holy war) against Israel is detached from reality. Hamas did not spend decades building a military infrastructure, digging tunnels,

“The Men Who Fear Women.” That’s the title of Helen Lewis’s latest cover story for The Atlantic. It’s currently making a big splash as she travels the podcast and interview circuit—PBS, The New York Times, NPR—explaining what she calls “masculinism,” a movement that apparently wants to put women back in the kitchen where they belong, having stripped them of all their political rights. Sounds scary, huh? As the title suggests, though, it isn’t the women who are scared (although perhaps they should be)—it’s the men. You may remember Helen Lewis from her car-crash interview with Jordan Peterson for GQ, way back in 2018.

Anthony, 19, made the assertion in a notice of appeal filed after he was found guilty of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf and sentenced to 35 years behind bars, according to a report by ABC WFAA. Anthony — who was moved to a Texas state prison Wednesday — is “penniless, destitute, and indigent person, too poor to employ counsel to represent me on the appeal,” reads the appeal form.

Anthony then used his knife to stab Metcalf in the heart, killing him almost instantly. Touch me and see what happens. This is the ethos

There is growing momentum within the Democratic Party to find its next ObamaCare heading into the midterms, as healthcare costs become more untenable and American anger over affordability persists. Healthcare has consistently ranked as a top issue for voters heading into this year’s midterm elections. June polling from Emerson College found that healthcare ranked in the top five issues for voters, behind the economy, threats to democracy and immigration. The expiration of the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits dealt a heavy blow to Democrats in Congress, who carried out the longest government shutdown in history to get a vote on extending the subsidies.
