The Ongoing Charade of Hamas Disarmament

Hamas is not agreeing to disarm. It is bargaining. The Cairo meetings reportedly focused heavily on what mediators described as the "restriction of weapons" rather than outright disarmament. Some proposals reportedly envision Hamas and other armed groups "depositing" weapons with Palestinian authorities or placing them under international supervision. This brush-off alone should convince Washington that the current strategy of negotiating with Hamas, as with Iran, is failing. The notion that Hamas would voluntarily surrender the means that allow it to dominate the Gaza Strip, intimidate Palestinians, and wage jihad (holy war) against Israel is detached from reality. Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Shropshire are among the local authorities urging locals not to attach flags to lampposts or signs without permission. But Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said today that anyone flying an England flag outside their home was “now intimidating migrants, according to our political class”. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told the Daily Mail: “This is outrageous. Patriotic British citizens should be allowed to display national flags, whether the St George’s Cross, Saltire or Union Jack – at times like these. “Woke councils should stop being ashamed of our national identity and culture, and start celebrating it instead. I’m proud of our national identity.

We're about three weeks away from Virginia's ban on "assault firearms" and "large capacity" magazines taking effect, and gun shops across the Old Dominion are continuing to see booming business as customers look to stock up on the guns and magazines that will have to be pulled from store shelves unless the law is enjoined from being enforced by an injunction. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, gun sales in Virginia last month were about double what they were in May, 2025. That's right in line with what Steve's Archery and Guns owner Steve Rodgers has been seeing at his shop in Shenandoah.

“The Men Who Fear Women.” That’s the title of Helen Lewis’s latest cover story for The Atlantic. It’s currently making a big splash as she travels the podcast and interview circuit—PBS, The New York Times, NPR—explaining what she calls “masculinism,” a movement that apparently wants to put women back in the kitchen where they belong, having stripped them of all their political rights. Sounds scary, huh? As the title suggests, though, it isn’t the women who are scared (although perhaps they should be)—it’s the men. You may remember Helen Lewis from her car-crash interview with Jordan Peterson for GQ, way back in 2018.

A few days ago, the ‘coalition of the willing’ (Starmer, Merz, Macron and Zelenskyy) met in London to hammer out the latest words on paper, a new military pledge to support Ukraine against Russia. Both British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III agreed to a renewed military effort that included British armed forces securing Ukraine territory according to their plan. Three days later, British Defense Minister John Healey resigns, citing insufficient funding of military. Seriously folks, you cannot make this up. This comes on the heels of the U.K. borrowing ships from Germany in order to participate in NATO exercises led by the U.K.

The controversial Muslim activist Linda Sarsour helped Dr. Adam Hamawy, an Egyptian-American veteran of the U.S. Army who has been linked to the Blind Sheikh and to an Al-Qaeda front, win the Democratic nomination for a House seat in New Jersey. Hamawy — largely a political newcomer who nevertheless won his Democratic primary race in early June — successfully ran a far-left campaign with a keen focus on opposition to Israel. “WE DID THAT. Congratulations Dr. Adam H. Hamawy!” Sarsour posted on June 2, sharing a photo of herself and Hamawy smiling together.

On Wednesday, Georgia Gov. We talk about an Iran war, but as I speak on June 9, we haven’t had a real kinetic back-and-forth bombing campaign or anything since around April 8. So, we had 38 days of bombing, and then we’ve had 60 days of negotiations. So, there isn’t really an Iran war right now. We have a War Powers Act. The Left is all upset and trying to stop the war, but there is no war right now. It’s a waiting game. And what is the waiting game? The waiting game is that Iran feels that by giving a concession on Monday and taking it back on Tuesday and letting Hezbollah attack—

We’ve hit them hard tonight,” Trump told Fox News’ Trey Yingst amid the airstrikes.

Social Security provides guaranteed retirement income to over 70 million Americans. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities states that Social Security keeps more Americans out of poverty than any other program in the United States. The 2025 report found that the projected Old-Age and Survivors Insurance fund, which pays benefits to retirees and survivors of deceased workers, would be depleted by 2033. In August, it moved the insolvency date to 2032,

The Postal Service proposed a new rule pushing states to turn over their mail-in and absentee voter rolls to the agency, a move in line with President Donald Trump’s March executive order tightening regulations on mail-in voting in federal elections. Since the start of his second administration, Trump has made election integrity and security a central issue, signing multiple executive orders to require proof of citizenship and crack down on mail-in voting fraud, essentially establishing a national voter verification system. His efforts have run into several legal hurdles, with judges ruling against requirements for proof of citizenship, and several Democratic states sue over the mail-in voting order.

The State Department is dismantling birth tourism networks across Africa and Europe, officials announced on Wednesday. An estimated 33,000 United States-born children are rewarded birthright American citizenship annually solely because their foreign parents arrived in the United States on a temporary visa, often a tourist visa, before they were born. Decades later, those American-born children can sponsor their parents for green cards. The birth tourism industry is widespread among Turkish nationals in New York City, Chinese nationals in California, Russian nationals in Florida, and Middle Easterners in Illinois. Platner, who is running for Senate in Maine to unseat incumbent GOP Sen. Susan Collins, has long identified himself as an oyster farmer and harbor master, giving a blue-collar tinge to his left-wing campaign. Financial disclosures, however, show that he brings in relatively little money from oyster farming, with reports suggesting that Platner receives the majority of his income through veteran’s disability payments.

Do you know who Willis Havilland Carrier is? No? Maybe you should. He’s the engineer who, way back in 1902, invented what we now call air conditioning. His invention has been cooling American houses and businesses ever since. But it’s also done something even more important: Saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Think that’s hyperbole? It isn’t. As America prepares for yet another long, hot summer, most of us will stay indoors to work and relax. Why? When the torrid weather arrives, we simply turn on our air conditioning and immediately feel cool air filling our rooms and making us comfortable. But comfort is a bonus to AC’s real impact: saving lives.
