The legislation makes death by hanging the default punishment for Palestinians on Gaza's West Bank who are convicted of nationalistic killings of Jewish Israelis, according to the Associated Press, and Israeli military courts are directed to mete out the sentence to those convicted of murdering an Israeli “as an act of terror.”
It also allows courts to impose the death penalty or life imprisonment on Israeli citizens convicted of murdering other Israelis.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Monday his committee has received information showing the United States' Census Bureau in 2020 miscalculated the number of Americans in a way that cost Republicans multiple House seats.
Comer claimed the basic count was biased against Republicans because the bureau made estimations instead of doing a physical count during the COVID-19 pandemic, and estimated high in Democratic areas like major cities and underestimated in suburban areas known to be more friendly to Republicans.

A 15-year-old student is dead after shooting a teacher at his high school near San Antonio Monday morning, authorities said.
The female teacher — from Hill Country College Preparatory High School in the town of Bulverde — was rushed to the hospital after being shot by the unidentified male student, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post without revealing details about the teacher’s condition.
Authorities didn’t say what exactly happened to the shooter, only that he “died at the scene.”
The school was evacuated and all other staff and students are safe, the sheriff’s office added.

CBS featured Karaban in a piece about his family. His mother, Olga, came to Massachusetts from Ukraine with her parents and grandparents in 1996. His father, Alexei, immigrated to the U.S. from Belarus on a work visa in 2001. After the segment aired, Barkley lamented the alleged treatment of legal immigrants. "I want to be careful with my words right now because this is a really touchy subject for me," he said.
President Trump came out swinging against the "new regime" in Iran Monday morning, threatening in a Truth Social post to escalate military operations there if a deal isn't reached and the Strait of Hormuz isn't immediately reopened.
The president indicated in his post that the U.S. has been in "serious discussions" with "A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME" to end the military operation. It's still unclear who, exactly, is part of this new regime and if it includes the presumed new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Around 49 guests with Hubbard's Marina in Madeira Beach went on a shelling excursion at around 11:15 a.m. Friday when they found a roughly 10-foot Great White shark 25-75 yards from the shoreline of Shell Key.
The shark was seen in the area for following large schools of tarpon fish as it was "displaying a calm but curious demeanor."

We wonder if anyone has conducted a demographic survey of the people who showed up at the “No Kings” protests around the country, because we suspect the results would be an embarrassment.
We noticed as a rally marched down the main street in Pasadena, California, that the protesters were comprised almost entirely of white people who were predominantly middle-aged or older. (This is a city that is 40% black and Hispanic, according to the Census Bureau.)

In its original form, House Bill 960 would have added a 12th Superior Court judge to the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit.
The amended bill presented by Sen. Greg Dolezal, R-Cumming, on Friday contained some of the same language as Senate Bill 568, which failed on crossover day. House Bill 960 still requires hand-marked ballots for the November 2026 general election and requires a manual recount of some elections.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that, despite a 53-47 Republican majority, the U.S. Senate is a graveyard for President Trump’s agenda. This is largely the fault of Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), who has never been a strong supporter of the President. Despite this, most Republicans hoped that Thune would work to advance Trump’s priorities, particularly after his decisive 2024 victory provided the momentum for the GOP to retake the Senate. But Thune’s refusal to get the SAVE America Act passed and his surrender to the Democrats on DHS funding — without additional money for ICE or CPB — dashed any hope.
