The Realistic Path To Congressional Term Limits

The founders feared concentrating power in a monarch. What they did not foresee was a permanent political class. The modern danger is different: power that never leaves office at all. Americans have reason to be skeptical that Congress will ever agree to term limits, but it might be within reach. The Constitution already provides the remedy. The path to congressional term limits exists within the document itself. When the Constitution was written, public office was not imagined as a lifelong career. Service in government was expected to be temporary—an interruption of private life rather than a permanent replacement for it. In the early republic, the federal government was remarkably small.

I don't think Congress should have a vote. This needs to be a National Referendum and only Taxpayers get to vote. The Founding Fathers did not set up Congress so representatives could make it a career. We have enough laws. Just enforce the damn things.

https://conventionofstates.com/. This organization has been working on this for years. I believe a balanced budget amendment would be far more crucial. Decades of irresponsible spending by both parties has us in an unbelievable level of debt.

#1, As this article clearly states, Congress will never vote to propose an amendment that limits the number of terms that can be served. The only method, again as the article states, is to have a convention of the states where enough states approve such an amendment. Once proposed the states would then vote yea or nay to add the Congressional term amendment to the US Constitution. The constitution doesn't provide for there to be a national referendum.

Revise the Congressional pension to make it unlikely anyone would WANT to stay in office for multiple terms. I admit that I have mixed feelings about term limits. Our government is impossibly complex and limiting the length of time someone could serve in Congress would probably make federal bureaucrats ever more in control. We already have problems along this issue especially with lazy reps who let bureaucrats essentially 'write' the laws and dictate how they are managed.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Monday his committee has received information showing the United States' Census Bureau in 2020 miscalculated the number of Americans in a way that cost Republicans multiple House seats. Comer claimed the basic count was biased against Republicans because the bureau made estimations instead of doing a physical count during the COVID-19 pandemic, and estimated high in Democratic areas like major cities and underestimated in suburban areas known to be more friendly to Republicans. "The basic count was miscounted grossly in the last census, to the tune of costing the Republicans anywhere from four to five congressional seat,
The Sham of 'Disarming' Hamas 3 replies

Hamas, like Iran, continues to treat the idea of disarmament with a mix of dismissal and rhetorical defiance, effectively signaling that it has no intention of giving up its weapons or altering its dream of eliminating Israel. For Hamas, disarmament is not a serious proposal. Instead, it is a tool for political theater, a way to manipulate donors and tighten its grip over the Gaza Strip. In Hamas's view, the establishment of Israel on any of this land is an illegal "Zionist project" and a form of colonial occupation. When Hamas talks about "resistance" (Arabic: muqawama), it is referring to a comprehensive framework aimed at destroying Israel through a violent jihad (holy war),

The news sent California Gov. Gavin Newsom, activist Jane Fonda, and their ilk into a frenzy. In mid-March, Donald Trump signed an executive order invoking the Defense Production Act, a 1950 Cold War-era law, to force the restart of a dormant offshore oil operation along the California coast. Of course, the Golden State immediately sued — how dare we produce our own energy! That litigation is ongoing, but in the meantime, the oil is officially pumping, and it’s coming out fast: Once again, this proves that our reliance on foreign oil is a problem largely of our own making — or at least, the Democrats’ making —

Ed Miliband has decreed that imported electricity will count as being as ‘clean’ as wind and solar even when it comes from burning coal and gas, in a move critics have branded “cheating” and “bonkers”. The Telegraph has the story. Ed Miliband faces cheating accusations over plans to exclude emissions generated in foreign gas-fired power stations from UK totals. He has pledged to make the grid 95% gas-free by 2030 – but 15% of UK power comes from neighbours like Belgium, the Netherlands and France, which have coal and gas-fired power stations. Miliband has ruled that all such imported power is be classed as zero-carbon –

The Pentagon is preparing for weeks of boots on the ground operations in Iran, a major escalation in President Trump’s goal to dismantle the remaining faction of the murderous Iranian regime, according to a report. Thousands of US Marines would be sent to the Middle East to conduct raids that include Special Operations forces and conventional infantry troops, the Washington Post reported, citing sources. Officials have been discussing plans for sending troops into Iran for weeks. American military operations entered their second month on Saturday, following the US-Israel joint attacks on Iranian military facilities and officials on Feb. 28,

As President Trump cranks up pressure on Iran, Pentagon brass are quietly lining up a wide menu of military options — which could put US boots on the ground in a major war for the first time in nearly half a decade. For now, Trump is pursuing a dual-track strategy: building overwhelming military pressure while leaving the door open to a deal — even extending a Friday deadline for Tehran to meet US demands. Meanwhile, thousands of US troops, including elements of the elite 82nd Airborne Division, are surging into the region alongside Air Force, Navy and Marine assets —

March 20, 2026, marked a turning point in the 2026 Iran war, when Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles at the joint U.K.–U.S. military base on Diego Garcia, a remote island in the Indian Ocean. Although both missiles failed to reach their target—one malfunctioned in flight, while the other was successfully intercepted—the attack sent shockwaves through Western Europe. This missile proved that the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had lied for years about the true range of Iran’s missile arsenal. Khamenei claimed Iran’s missiles could not threaten beyond the Middle East and their range had been limited to 2,000 kilometers.

Pulling a Pelosi, if you will: take it a bit easy and let your stock portfolio do the work for you. But, no. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that, despite a 53-47 Republican majority, the U.S. Senate is a graveyard for President Trump’s agenda. This is largely the fault of Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), who has never been a strong supporter of the President. Despite this, most Republicans hoped that Thune would work to advance Trump’s priorities, particularly after his decisive 2024 victory provided the momentum for the GOP to retake the Senate. But Thune’s refusal to get the SAVE America Act passed and his surrender to the Democrats on DHS funding — without additional money for ICE or CPB — dashed any hope.

Bill SB26-146 would ban “a retail food establishment or third-party food delivery service from providing single-use food serviceware to a customer” unless the customer requested or confirms he or she wanted it, according to the bill’s text. Democratic Colorado State Sen. Lisa Cutter and Democratic Colorado State Rep. Meg Froelich introduced the legislation on March 24 and, if passed, will go into effect at the start of 2027. It’s like a pandemic: Weekly news reports of yet another teacher arrested for having an erotic relationship with a student – often a young, attractive female exploiting a teen male under the age of consent. But this phenomenon of “educator sexual misconduct,” or ESM, is not as bad as it appears. In fact, it’s worse. Such stories evoke the prurient pop music theme found in the rock band Van Halen’s 1984 tune “Hot For Teacher.” However, in the real world, the overwhelming majority of these criminal relationships are never disclosed and prosecuted, and their destructive impact on victims goes largely unreported.
