As President Trump cranks up pressure on Iran, Pentagon brass are quietly lining up a wide menu of military options — which could put US boots on the ground in a major war for the first time in nearly half a decade. For now, Trump is pursuing a dual-track strategy: building overwhelming military pressure while leaving the door open to a deal — even extending a Friday deadline for Tehran to meet US demands. Meanwhile, thousands of US troops, including elements of the elite 82nd Airborne Division, are surging into the region alongside Air Force, Navy and Marine assets —

The first mistake here is thinking the list of options are all the options. It never is. As for negotiations, the Iranian regime is in the predicament that they will be killed defending themselves, or hung by the people, after this is over. So I do not expect any resolutions from negotiations. We have good commanders this go round, so we will have to wait and see how it works out.

All plans go out the door as soon as the first shot is fired. The present regime of volunteer murderers and misogynists has to be destroyed. The people there do not have a second amendment. Thank God we do and we must keep it or end up like Britain. I pray no boots on the ground but I see no other way out, but the rues of engagement must say anyone who takes a shot at an American soldier must be destroyed.

My personal opinion is that most of the Iranian potential combatants will hurt themselves attempting to throw their guns down all at once. Seeing thousands of our best troops on Iranian soil for the first time will cause mass panic. I could be wrong but after seeing that the biggest problem that General Schwartzkopf had in Iraq was in processing the thousands of soldiers who surrendered, I don't think so.

It is infuriating that the Murdoch media thinks only of American troops in terms of "boots on the ground." What about neighboring nations that Iran is attacking on a daily basis? Saudi Arabia has an estimated 150,000 active duty soldiers and United Arab Emirates 40,000 -- to name only two Arab countries in the region. Six other Arab countries have been struck. Including Israel, that brings the number of countries in the region that already have "skin in the game" to nine. The nations which will benefit the most from taming Iran should bear the brunt of doing so.

The Pentagon is preparing for weeks of boots on the ground operations in Iran, a major escalation in President Trump’s goal to dismantle the remaining faction of the murderous Iranian regime, according to a report. Thousands of US Marines would be sent to the Middle East to conduct raids that include Special Operations forces and conventional infantry troops, the Washington Post reported, citing sources. Officials have been discussing plans for sending troops into Iran for weeks. American military operations entered their second month on Saturday, following the US-Israel joint attacks on Iranian military facilities and officials on Feb. 28,

March 20, 2026, marked a turning point in the 2026 Iran war, when Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles at the joint U.K.–U.S. military base on Diego Garcia, a remote island in the Indian Ocean. Although both missiles failed to reach their target—one malfunctioned in flight, while the other was successfully intercepted—the attack sent shockwaves through Western Europe. This missile proved that the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had lied for years about the true range of Iran’s missile arsenal. Khamenei claimed Iran’s missiles could not threaten beyond the Middle East and their range had been limited to 2,000 kilometers.

Coastal Florida towns are playing hot potato with spring breakers who use social media to organize “takeovers” of gatherings by drunken flash mobs, leading to violence and mass arrests. Cops locked down Daytona Beach this week after a string of shootings and a beach “takeover” that ended in a mass stampede of high-school and college students fleeing for their lives. That single “takeover” resulted in 133 arrests and prompted authorities to turn the entire beach into a party quarantine zone, with doubled fines for citations and strict limits on gathering sizes, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

President Donald Trump is executing the playbook he developed for Venezuela to pressure the communist Cuban regime to capitulate, thereby removing the last major bastion of foreign adversary influence in the Western Hemisphere. And after essentially cutting off the island’s oil supply, there are signs that the regime is starting to feel the heat. In the aftermath of the U.S. operation to apprehend Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro earlier this year, the Trump administration has ramped up its pressure on Cuba, a close partner of Maduro and, since its communist revolution in 1959 led by Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro,

The second scenario is for Trump to refocus on Iran's arsenal of missiles by claiming it has been wiped out thus enabling him to end the war. However, that would mean becoming hostage to fortune. It would be sufficient for Tehran to fire a rocket or a drone just days after Trump's declaration of victory to show that the leader of the mightiest power in history has thrown in the towel a bit too soon. The third scenario, favored by some in Trump's kitchen cabinet but absolutely hated by Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu is the Venezuela model:

But Albany legislators should never have imposed these draconian CO₂ emissions targets to begin with. Even in 2019, when the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act was passed,

Pulling a Pelosi, if you will: take it a bit easy and let your stock portfolio do the work for you. But, no. When did getting from point A to point B get so complicated? When the government decided which cars Americans should buy. With the economic and scientific premises behind electric vehicle (EV) mandates collapsing, the EV bubble may burst completely. There is one mandate left to burst: California’s Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) regulation, which requires all new vehicles to be 100 percent electric by 2035, or else automakers get penalized. With the federal repeal of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Endangerment Finding in February, the government’s formal scientific basis for EV mandates is gone. State governments no longer have a rational scientific basis for requiring EV sales.

What do you call it when a politician tells you to put elections “back on a level playing field” by voting for a redistricting map gerrymandered to give Democrats 10 seats to Republicans’ one? “Lying” doesn’t quite foot the bill. “Rank deception” is closer, but I think this kind of rhetoric calls for the big guns. I’ll settle on “shameless Orwellian gaslighting,” because supporting the Virginia redistricting push in the name of “fairness” involves redefining basic words in the same manner as the oppressive government in George Orwell’s “1984,” and this rhetorical strategy seems designed to make people with rational concerns about the ballot initiative question their sanity. This isn't a shift in lifestyle from the animals, but rather something that's being forced upon them, as marine pollution becomes ever more pervasive. Finding traces of these substances in a tropical place widely seen as idyllic and pristine is concerning – it seems there are vanishingly few spots on Earth where wildlife can escape our influence.
