What do you call it when a politician tells you to put elections “back on a level playing field” by voting for a redistricting map gerrymandered to give Democrats 10 seats to Republicans’ one?
“Lying” doesn’t quite foot the bill. “Rank deception” is closer, but I think this kind of rhetoric calls for the big guns.
I’ll settle on “shameless Orwellian gaslighting,” because supporting the Virginia redistricting push in the name of “fairness” involves redefining basic words in the same manner as the oppressive government in George Orwell’s “1984,” and this rhetorical strategy seems designed to make people with rational concerns about the ballot initiative question their sanity. This particular shameless Orwellian

The Republicans have been so passive that the Democrats have gerrymandered them out of the blue states, and undercounted the red states for the census. With Democrat cheating, it is getting almost impossible to elect a Republican, and even if one is elected, indictment, impeachment, disbarment, scandalous allegations, actually any measure, is launched against the Republican for "getting elected".

The crooked community organizer has been doing this stuff for years. His "Connstitutional" professor gig in Chicago was his own class (only his materiial; no textbooks) on how to get around the Constitution. A liar, a gaslighter, a snake oil salesman. He fancies himself to be a mover and shaker, a geriatric influencer, Makes him feel powerful.

The signs posted in very wealthy peoples' front yards, like the huge horse estates around Charlottesville, VA all say Vote Yes and Fight Trump. So typical: wealthy elite Dems with nothing more to offer than Fight Trump.

Whenever Barry's ugly mug appears on our TV screen, my son automatically mutes the volume. That doesn't stop me from hurling a few obscenities at the TV screen. We Virginians put the redistricting process in the hands of a bipartisan commission to purposefully avoid the shenanigans Stinkburger and her puppetmaster goons are trying to pull now. It's bad enough that they're trying to sell it by telling lies about how its "leveling the playing field" and is "only temporary," but to bring in outside garbage like Soetoro to pitch the lies is infuriating.

More and more the Woke Progressive Democrat talking points resembles the “New Speak” that redefines the meaning of “Old Speak” words to mean something different in the George Orwell book, “1984.” Thus, gerrymandering to get political advantage is “fair.” In fact, the democrats seem to be using “1984” as a “How To” manual to manipulate voters to vote for them.

#5 - The Dems did the same here in California. Republicans had all of seven seats in our 50+ Congressional delegation and even that was too much of a burden for the Dems to bear. Newscum wasted millions in tax-payer monies to hold a special election to overturn our established redistricting commission and replace it with Dem political hacks. Low and behold, 40% of Californians now have only one or two districts.
I'm sorry about estimating the numbers, but I'm too hacked off to research the exact figures. The fact remains the Democrat controlled states cannot handle any type of pushback. I truly believe Newscum lost the recall vote. There were a lot of typical Dem shenanigans around that election, including L.A.'s meticulous vetting of voter signatures that tossed "certain" ballots. Everyone must be in lockstep with their brilliance or they cannot exist. Someday even the idiots in this state will wake up.
I want my birthright back! California is too wonderful to be smashed under the bootheel of these oligarchs who envision themselves to be the saviors of all mankind, womankind, and transkind. They can kiss my grits!
California will be Golden Again, even if I die trying.

I try not to pay too much attention to over-hyped nothings from community organized academia..
The federal courts are forcing national suicide, one arbitrary decision at a time. We do not have national elections. The Constitution is pretty clear. States can be as corrupt and undemocratic as they please. They have chosen to be Bolshevist, fascist. profligate, civilized, or autocratic.

Obama has no business meddling in Virginia, he doesn't even own a house there - yet.
I'm sorry about your plight, #12 but when the idiots in California wake up they will find that everybody who is represented by the right side of the Bell Curve will have left, including you...

#12, here in Colorado, we're in the same boat but on a smaller scale. The Peoples Republic of Boulder steadily gained increasing political power over the last several decades. Along the way, local lefty law firms in Denver began to influence state government which caused gerrymandering to become rampant. In the political sense, the Peoples Republic of Boulder became the Peoples Republic of Denver. Most of the state's population is concentrates between Fort Collins south to Pueblo. Hence, we have the Peoples Republic of Colorado. The rest of us in the western part of the state really have no representation. It really stinks. At the local speakeasies in our town there is often discussion that several western Colorado counties including mine should secede from the state and perhaps become part of Utah or Wyoming. It isn't loose talk anymore.
