NASA’s chief on Tuesday said the US space agency will invest $20 billion to develop a base on the Moon, while suspending its plans to create the lunar orbital space station known as Gateway. The agency intends to pause Gateway in its current form and shift focus to infrastructure that enables sustained surface operations,” Jared Isaacman said in a statement given during a day-long event at NASA headquarters in Washington. Despite challenges with some existing hardware, the agency will repurpose applicable equipment and leverage international partner commitments to support these objectives,” he said. The European Space Agency among other international organizations were partners on the planned Gateway project.

It would be far easier and far cheaper to launch satellites from a moon base.

1, What sense is there in sending a satellite 240,000 miles to the moon then 218,000 miles BACK to geostationary orbit? If the idea is to achieve a launch platform that is easier to reach escape velocity then launching from the moon only works when the satellites and rockets are MANUFACTURED on the moon.

Ah yes.... Another Grand Plan from NASA, who ever since their Apollo glory days have been searching for the Next Great Thing. -Mission to Planet Earth (trying in vain to please the leftist Greenie-Weenies). -The Single-Stage-to-Orbit Aerospace Plane -that flopped. -Going to Mars- that never launched a single rocket. -The Hypersonic Airliner- that was never built. -The Mission to Visit an Asteroid - that never got off the ground. -Under Obama, Halting all American space exploration, and Telling the Muzzies How Good they were at Space Science. Between the Politicians changing their minds every couple of years as to what to do, the Lamestreams criticizing everything they can find (as space exploration does not advance the DEI Welfare State) and the resulting risk-averse mentality of the Bureaucrats running the agency, NASA's capability has become less, and less, and less as the years go by. Heck, NASA has not even had the capability to get people to the Space Station, in low earth orbit since 2011. NASA had to hire the Russians, and now contracts with SpaceX to do that. IF they get the OK from Congress, the ONLY sure thing is that..... They'll SPEND ALL THE MONEY!

Graves, 62, has represented a solidly GOP and rural northern part of Missouri since 2001. Just last month, he filed for reelection in what would have been a campaign for a 14th term. But he said in a social media post Friday that he’s “making room for the next generation.” So far, 58 House members are stepping down or running for some other office, putting Congress on track for record turnover.

Cherfilus-McCormick illicitly funneled millions of dollars to her campaign and committed various campaign finance infractions, according to a House Ethics subcommittee, POLITICO reported. The panel could recommend that she be expelled from Congress. The panel’s adjudicatory subcommittee deliberated well past midnight after an hours-long hearing. The subcommittee found “clear and convincing” evidence that Cherfilus-McCormick was guilty of all but two of the 27 counts that had been brought against her.

U.S. House lawmakers Thursday discussed a proposed framework for reducing federal deficits and slowing the growth of the national debt. The federal debt surpassed $39 trillion on March 17 and continues to climb. Over the past year, it has grown by an average of more than $7 billion per day or over $5 million per minute, and budget deficits are the primary driver of its staggering rise. Budget deficits occur when Congress authorizes spending that exceeds what the government brings in through taxes, fees and other revenue streams.

Earlier this week, a federal appeals court held that the Department of Homeland Security could detain an illegal alien without bond pending his removal proceedings after he was arrested in Minneapolis in 2025. In journeyman fashion, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals interpreted the applicable immigration laws as written and applied common sense to reach its decision. That law, 8 U.S.C. § 1225, a nearly three-decade-old statute, requires detention without bond for “an alien who is an applicant for admission if … an alien seeking admission is not clearly and beyond a doubt entitled to be admitted.”

The investigation centered around the school’s handling of trans-identifying male volleyball player Blaire Fleming from 2022-2024.

Critics accuse Donald Trump of destroying a rules-based world order with his no-nonsense approach to those threatening the security of the Western world. There is just one problem: it is a liberal fantasy that never existed. The late 1990s were the high-water mark of liberal globalism. Academics like Francis Fukuyama rambled on about the “end of history.” In the Balkans, multilateral intervention seemingly redefined war as a legalistic humanitarian effort. In the quest for a borderless world, the West opened its doors to cheap Chinese imports. In 1996, columnist Thomas Friedman reassured his readers that conflict would become a thing of the past in the world of liberal, free-trade globalism:

About 1 million beneficiaries receive at least $50,000 annually — or more than $100,000 for a retired couple — representing less than 2% of the roughly 56 million people age 65 and older who get Social Security, according to an analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. The nonpartisan think tank projects that share will grow over time because of annual cost-of-living adjustments and as more Americans reach retirement age.
