HBO host Bill Maher is taking aim at the New York Times for portraying Donald Trump’s actions in Iran as a “bad war.”
Maher brought up the subject on his recent Club Random podcast featuring neuroscientist Sam Harris. The show was recorded a few days after Trump launched his sorties against Iran’s radical, Islamist Mullahs, and during the segment Maher and Harris began to talk about the media’s portrayal of the military actions that had only just started.
“As we’re talking now, the Iran [war], the new Iran war, and The New York Times headline was, you know, ‘U.S. troops die’ – that was like what they led with.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday that Iran’s military power is “being systematically degraded and annihilated” as Operation Epic Fury entered its tenth day, declaring the campaign will end “on our timeline and at our choosing” while forcefully pushing back against suggestions it could devolve into another prolonged Middle East conflict.
Speaking during a Pentagon briefing alongside the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, Hegseth outlined battlefield progress while stressing the military operation ordered by President Donald Trump remains tightly focused on specific objectives aimed at dismantling Iran’s ability to threaten the United States and its allies.

Tuesday on MS NOW’s “The Briefing,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said President Donald Trump would try to “seize ballot boxes’ to “subvert the vote” in the midterm elections.
Host Jen Psaki said, “The administration subpoenaed records from 2020 from Arizona. We know that’s not about changing the outcome of the 2020 election. We know that they’ve already gone through that. It’s obviously about 2026. What do you make of that and what’s your level of concern about it?”
Schiff said, “I think the subpoenas in Arizona, America, Maricopa County, the FBI raid in Georgia, this is all trying to establish some kind of phony predicate

The American energy sector is springing back into action with new exploration and extraction of natural gas well underway. But "drill, baby drill" isn't much good without "refine, baby, refine," as petroleum in particular has to be converted into something useful before its real value can be achieved: Gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, and all the the myriads of other materials we get from that black gold.
The problem is, the United States hasn't seen a new petroleum refinery open in over 50 years - until now. President Trump and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum spread the good news on Tuesday. The president, on Truth Social, writes:

“Finish the job.” President Donald Trump revealed that as the message he received from the families of the American military heroes who died overseas during the ongoing joint operation with Israel against Iran’s terrorist and America-hating regime.
Seven U.S. troops have tragically died in Iranian regime counterstrikes since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury, and the president paid his respects to the remains of six of them last week at Dover. Subsequently, Trump also spoke to the press on Monday and emphasized that parents of the service members who gave the last full measure of devotion want the president to finish off the task that their loved ones offered

The most overrepresented, overhyped, and overexposed political bloc in today’s mainstream media is… any guesses?
I’ll give you a hint: They’re in the Republican Party (more or less). And the amount of media attention they’re receiving is nothing short of extraordinary. In all their years, they’ve never received better press!
And in a weird, inexplicable coincidence, their business model directly depends on being noticed.
Not liked or loved. Not supported, trusted, or believed. And certainly not “winning hearts and minds” — because so far, they’ve failed to influence almost anyone.
Even though they call themselves “influencers.”
But it’s a simple financial formula:
Notice them.
Click on them.
Ca-ching!
I’m speaking of those MAGA-adjacent podcasters, “influencers,” and politicos

It's the Great Fear that is just eating away at the poor folks at Politico. It was first expressed by that periodical in December when they suddenly realized that with so many Democrats (and none clearly in the lead) that in the open primary for governor of California that it was possible that with only two Republicans in that race, that both of them could end up in first and second place due to the Democrats splitting up the rest of the votes among themselves. A couple of months later in February that fear not only did not go away but intensified with poor Politico going full delusional

Oil giant ExxonMobil announced it intends to drop its New Jersey corporate registration and redomicile in Texas, citing the Lone Star State’s business-friendly legal environment and after years of shareholder and climate-related legal battles.
The company on Tuesday said its board of directors unanimously recommended shareholders approve changing the company’s legal domicile from New Jersey to Texas, saying aligning ExxonMobil’s legal home with where its leadership and core operations have been based since 1989 will benefit shareholders.
"Over the past several years, Texas has made a noticeable effort to embrace the business community. In doing so, it has created a policy and regulatory environment that can allow

Earlier today, I wrote about CNN's appalling bit of propaganda that almost romanticized the terrorist attack in New York City by two Islamists, who were radicalized by ISIS. The lede of the story and the tweet they produced were so embarrassingly bad that CNN had to delete it and kinda sorta maybe apologize a little bit. It didn't fail to reflect the gravity of the situation. It failed to accurately communicate who was responsible, who the intended victims were and where the blame for the attempted terrorist attack lay. In other words you didn't accidentally downplay the seriousness of it, you deliberately

Surprised? NBC News readers might be if they only read their Sunday news report about their latest poll numbers.
We'll get back to that momentarily. NBC News chose to frame these poll results in the hoary pox-upon-both-houses narrative, while informing their readers of the shocking fact that independents matter in elections. About the closest they come to hitting the real news is in the equally shocking news that voters see both parties negatively:
As party primaries kick off ahead of the pivotal battle for control of Congress this fall, Democrats — and especially Republicans — say they are prioritizing ideological alignment instead of electability when they pick candidates,

The future of travel may soon include flying taxis—and Texas is now one of the federal government's testing grounds. The Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation announced eight proposals selected for a new Advanced Air Mobility initiative, the Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). Under the program, Texas will work with federal regulators and private aviation companies to test air taxi operations connecting major cities across the state. The aircraft being tested are known as electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles, or eVTOLs

The United States Navy has destroyed 16 Iranian boats suspected of preparing to lay naval mines near the Strait of Hormuz, marking one of the most direct maritime confrontations in the ongoing Gulf War. According to the United States military, the vessels were targeted after intelligence suggested they were equipped for mine-laying operations in the strategic waterway through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes. Officials from the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the strike on Tuesday and released unclassified footage showing several Iranian vessels being destroyed during the operation.
