Yamaha Motor Company is now the latest seismic hit to California after announcing that, after half a century, the nearly $7 billion company is leaving the deep blue state.
Yamaha, which announced the move Tuesday, is not alone. Several prominent companies with longstanding ties to California have also relocated their headquarters or significant operations in recent years, often citing factors such as business climate, talent access and operational efficiency.
Hours later, ExxonMobil announced plans to end its New Jersey corporate registration and redomicile in Texas, citing a better business-friendly legal environment, after years of shareholder and climate-related legal battles, according to Fox Business News.

Perhaps the blue states could have bake sales to raise revenue.

Newsom might consider building something like the Berlin Wall to keep companies in. Of course, like that train, he'd collect billions without building 10 linear feet of actual wall.

Also - - the city of Sacramento announced that it is moving its state capital operations to Biloxi, Mississippi.
From its official press release — "Sacramento is just too darn expensive - - and dangerous. We can be the California capitol just as well in a low-cost, safe environment like Biloxi. It pains us - - but it's a move we had to make."

The way things look, if the SAVE act gets passed, California will move from the largest state with voters to the size of Vermont voters. Without citizens (all moving) and illegals not eligible, CA is in a world of voter hurt.

Before I retired, I had spent 43 years as an independent insurance agent. One of the companies that we represented was a medium sized company that had just pulled out of California even though the CEO's cousin had an agency there. I was having dinner with the company CEO one night and he said, "You know, I have made plenty of business mistakes over the years but withdrawing from California was not one of them. The regulatory climate plus a trial lawyer on every corner finally made them throw in the towel. California is a huge market but it's like the monkey having sex with a skunk, "I have enjoyed about about much of this as I can stand". The remaining insurance companies will be looking to do the same especially after the fires and the empty reservoirs and hydrants. If the big ones like State Farm start leaving, it will be a real disaster.

Way to go Gavin. The campaign ads just keep on writing themselves for your conservative Republican opponent in your bid for the president.
"Don't California The Rest Of The Country" will make a good bumper sticker.

Shrinking tax base. Newsom sure knows how to do that, not to mention pile on the crazy.
I have family who live in California and I always tease them by asking, "Are you sure you want to stay there? I mean, one of these days they might not let you leave!"

If things don't change and the productive people contine to leave, eventually the only ones in California will be the Bureaucrats and the Gimme-Dats.
Oh, and #6, I believe the term is I have heard used is 'Kalifornicate'.

After the Palisades fire, insurance agencies cancelled almost every homeowner policy in California. After 25 years with the same company, and no claims, we were cancelled. Everyone was being funneled into the failed state run "FAIR" program, which wanted $8,000 year. We decided to self-insure.
TK called the bank holding our mortgage and asked what they required. They only cared about mortgage insurance and arranged a policy for us for only $2,000 a year. We also bought a separate civil liability policy for about $1,000 per year. We then began a separate savings account that I deposit $300 a month ($3,600/year) to cover costs due to a fire or earthquake.
So instead of wasting $8,000 a year for a state-run "insurance" that would be a nightmare to claim, we are spending $6,600 a year that we control. We are betting on our homestead mitigations that include a roof sprinkler system for our home, workshop, solar shed and woodshed. All trees surrounding the house have been eliminated or limbed, and I mow about an acre of grass around the homestead.
I'd rather be beholding to ourselves than depend on our corrupt state government. Someday, California will be golden again. I hope we live long enough to see it.

Leftists cannot grasp the simple fact that ANYONE will seek to avoid having THEIR MONEY stolen by the government. How much effort will be made depends a lot on the amount of money involved.
For these big companies, the dollar amounts are many billions....so spending a few millions to move is an easy choice.
Stupid is as stupid does.

Good planning #10. Our Colorado cabin is not insured. We built it ourselves 30 years ago, and if it were to burn down, we'd be very sad, but we could rebuild it. Not living there full time, we don't have a good roof sprinkler system, probably should add it, but .....procrastination is easy.

The Peoples Republic of Colorado is seeing a similar exodus of companies. Notable departures that I remember include Palantir Technologies, TIAA CREF, Microvast, Boom Supersonics, QuietKat, and Pfizer. And a good many oil and gas companies. Even the Professional Bull Riders Association has pulled up stakes and head for greener pastures. This is just a very small sliver of the companies who have already left.
One does not have to look far to understand the reasons why this is happening. Outrageous housing costs, high costs for utilities, and low salaries and wages. Young professionals can't get ahead financially so after a year or two, they leave. Many head to Texas. But the dim-controlled state legislature sure has no problem welcoming in the illegals for their votes having turned downtown Denver into societal sewer.
As regards the insurance companies, they haven't been making any noise about cancelling homeowner coverages yet. But unless the weather changes now, the drought breaks, and we start getting some snow and/or rain, it will be a terrible summer for wildfires. The insurance companies will soon come to realize they are exposed. We just hope that the eco-terrorists leave us alone.

#10 Timber Queen. You and TK were very smart about private insuring yourselves. This should be a template for other Californians, especially those in So. CA that are in the path of the
Santa Ana winds later in the year. God bless you and your household.
