The UK has agreed to a US request to use British military bases for "defensive" strikes on Iranian missile sites, Sir Keir Starmer has said.
But the prime minister said the UK had learned lessons from the "mistakes of Iraq", and was not involved in the initial strikes on Iran and "will not join offensive action now".
Sir Keir said the basis of the decision to accept the US request was the "collective self-defence" of allies and protecting British lives, accusing Iran of pursuing a "scorched-earth strategy".
The BBC understands the US is likely to use RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean for strikes on Iranian missile sites.

If they are trying to curry ( no pun intended) favor with the Muslims, it is not working and will fool no one.

Fickle Brits don't have a real leader who can be decisive. Why now and not before? Because he doesn't know what he's doing.

Wow /s
... the feathers are really flying in the UK chicken coop.
"the UK had learned lessons from the "mistakes of Iraq"" a dig at the US but Starmer will end up with egg on his face and the UK is going to be left scratching at the dirt after this is all over because Trump KNOWS this is not Iraq and is not repeating the mistakes made there.
Will more reasonable leaders emerge in Iran? Who knows? At a minimum, Iran's nuclear ability and their general ability to create trouble will be severely degraded. Trump has made it clear, this will create an opportunity for Iran to head in a different direction.

Be interesting to see the impact on this decision within the UK, especially in London-stan.
Kind of surprised that they allowed the US to use their bases - perhaps the UK is finally acknowledging the Islamic threat.

Sir Keir is a little late to the dance but at least it will save us some jet fuel. Maybe somebody informed him that Iranian missiles can already reach London.

Gee, thanks Mr. Prime Minister Starmer. What are friends for? After we crossed the big pond in two world wars and about 300,000 American servicemen gave their lives to protect Europe, it is really reassuring that you would reconsider allowing us to use your bases when we really need them, even if it was an afterthought. What are friends for, huh? Well, Winston Churchill you aren't. Margaret Thatcher also for that matter.
Maybe if we have to find alternate bases for our aircraft, we will discover that we really don't need to station any troops in the UK after all, and out guys and gals can come home. Guess you can handle the Russians and Chinese on your own now, huh?
We are wondering how long this Anglo-American relationship will last anyway, as the way you Brits are allowing Islamites to populate your country your next prime minister might just be called Mohammad Someone .
Footnote: Glad I visited London decades ago while it was still British.

Sir Starmer seems timid and unsure of what to do. Hint to Starmer: Radical Islam is bad. Start supporting your your fellow countrymen instead of transvestites and hostile foreigners.

Starmer jumps on the winning side -- after he was weeks away from giving up Diego Garcia, and after the U.S. has already made other arrangements for taking out Iran's missiles. The UK is not our ally, have no energy to help anyone, even themselves, and have been taken over by the muslims. The UK is sidling up to China, which is more in line with Starmer, a communist.

Correct #13, the UK is not our ally. Far from it, this regime is our enemy.

Starmer is no Churchill or Thatcher, that’s for dang sure! You have to figure that Starmer and the UK Labor Party are trying to curry favor with the greatly increasing Islamic population in the UK that they most likely see as a new foreign born political constituency in the UK that will keep them in political power. If that is so you will see the UK Islamist population continue to grow as an even more rapid pace then now, resulting in the UK committing long-term national suicide, as the Islamists eventually take over the country. It appears that the current very weak King and the high UK mucky mucks who have all sorts of business and financial interests throughout the Islamic World are blind to that fact at the moment. Cherrio!

NATO and the 'special relationship' are both past their use by date. The UK government is not a reliable ally.
