While the government of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has inked a trade agreement with China to accept cheap imported vehicles in exchange for Beijing purchasing some agricultural products, President Trump has promised those cheap Chinese EVs will never cross the border into the USA.
The Canadian polling on the issue has done a remarkable chang in the past few years. Now, the majority of Canadians are willing to purchase cheap Chinese EVs. As outlined by Bloomberg, “More than half of Canadians, or 53%, say that knowing an EV was made in China would have no effect on their purchasing decision, according to a new poll by Nanos Research Group

And where are they going to get all of this extra electricity from? I don’t expect many in the western provinces to buy these, except Vancouver that is…

If you have a few minutes, watch this video by John Cadogan. He examines a Chinese truck sold in Australia. The JAC:

I’ve written off Canada. I’ll never set foot in that country again. They’ve all lost their minds.

Those stupid Canucks in the snowy, cold Great White North aren't going to be able to go very far when it's twenty below outside. Vermont just discovered that their electric school buses can't be charged at all if it's below forty outside. How effective will charging be in Canada? In the cold, an e-car's range is badly affected. Any power used to heat the cabin just draws down the battery more rapidly. Electric cars in a cold environment leads to 15 Minute Cities where travel is rare when it's even possible at all.
Prediction: E-cars have already reached their peak numbers in the American fleet, and will gradually disappear ... unless the far Left achieves political hegemony and reverses all of Trump's essential improvements. There's no reason other than political for electric cars even to exist. They're dangerous and impractical. Most Americans know this.

Chinese EVs? Even well-made American electric cars aren't really practical. I have also heard that it sometimes gets a little chilly up there. Not ideal for battery longevity. There will be a few sold as a virtual signal for the usual suspects. I can remember insuring a Yugo for one of my silly, younger customers who thought it was a blow against the "man" and capitalism. He had to junk it within a couple of years.
There is also the little matter of trained mechanics, parts or dealerships. What kind of warranty does it have? Do you call Xing to get it repaired? Well, fools and their money etc.

53% of Canadians aren't very smart.
Half my Canadian in-laws have sworn they will not set foot in the US while Trump lives. The other half wants him to run their country.

LOL! They'll be wonderful in those arctic winters with frozen, low functionality batteries, minimal to no heaters. And the legendary Chinese reliability will, I'm sure, be greatly appreciated, too.

This should be fun to watch when the snow hits and the temps drop below zero.

So the consensus is EV + hard winter = misery/death.
But we're just extra chromosome mouth-breathers so what do we know?

Nothing from China can be repaired. Think their cars will be any better than their TVs or appliances?

Are these the same Chinese EV's that were shipped to Russia? Because the Russians call them "coffins on wheels because not only do they catch fire, the doors tend to lock up in the cold.

As an ex-Canuck born and raised in Montreal, I can tell you that 40 below is not uncommon in the winter. They also have over 100 inches of snow each year. Imagine the first time you are stuck in a snow storm and are waiting 2 hours for a tow/help. How long do you thing the battery will last?
Maybe that's why most EVs are sold on the west coast of the USA.
They only make sense in a warm, not hot, climate and are only driven by Liberals.

In rural WV, old cars are used as chicken coops.
Just wondering how the cars will be used when they are no longer operable.

Fitting ( and cliche) that a Marxist gov't would endorse cars that don't work...
