DOJ Issues Subpoenas to Gov. Walz and

Yesterday I wrote about Gov. Tim Walz sudden change of tone. After weeks of verbally escalating the conflict with ICE and the Trump administration, even saying on several occasions that the state was at war with the federal government, Walz suddenly pleaded for calm. At the time, it wasn't clear to me what had motivated his sudden change of heart. This afternoon, we're learning that both Walz and Frey are under investigation and subpoenas have been or are about to be issued to both men by the Department of Justice. The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation

Unfortunately for the "Minnesota Twins" their rantings, lunacy and encouragement of the paid rabble rousers has been recorded and already seen by most of the country. I hope their bank accounts are part of the investigation.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officers in the Minneapolis-area participating in its largest recent U.S. immigration enforcement operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters who aren’t obstructing authorities, including when these people are observing the agents, a judge in Minnesota ruled Friday. U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez’s ruling addresses a case filed in December on behalf of six Minnesota activists. The six are among the thousands who have been observing the activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol officers enforcing the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area since last month. Federal agents and demonstrators have repeatedly clashed since the crackdown began.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday it is issuing a series of warnings to airlines to exercise caution when flying over Central America and parts of South America, citing the risks of potential military activities and GPS interference. The FAA said it had issued Notices to Airmen covering Mexico and other Central American countries, as well as Ecuador, Colombia and portions of airspace within the eastern Pacific Ocean. The warnings began Friday and will last 60 days, the agency added. The warnings come amid increased tensions between the United States and regional leaders after the Trump administration mounted a large-scale military buildup in the southern Caribbean, attacked Venezuela

As you've probably noticed, Gov. Gavin Newsom hired a new social media team a few months ago and their general approach is to attack people on the right by saying whatever pops into their heads. Frequently that meant profanity or mocking public officials like a teenager might. This has gotten Newsom in trouble a few times but the 3 or 4 people running his account have been a hit with the base. They love the spicy Newsom memes. So it's a bit of a surprised to see Newsom actually apologize for something put out by his team. Even more so because the person pressing him on this was Ben Shapiro.

Federal prosecutors secured indictments against 26 people accused of rigging college basketball games in America and pro contests in China, according to court papers unsealed Thursday in Philadelphia. The suspects face charges that include alleged bribery in sports, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and aiding and abetting. U.S. Attorney David Metcalf said the dozens accused “perpetrated a transnational criminal scheme to fix NCAA Division I men’s basketball games as well as professional Chinese Basketball Association games.”

There's a new development in the yearslong international mystery over Havana Syndrome: The U.S. has obtained and has been testing a device that officials believe could be linked to the debilitating condition. Sources said the device was quietly obtained by the Department of Homeland Security in late 2024, almost a decade after symptoms of what became known as Havana Syndrome were first reported by U.S. embassy personnel in Cuba. The Pentagon has since been testing the portable, backpack-sized device, which emits pulsed, radio-frequency energy and contains components of Russian origin. The sources said Homeland Security investigators believe it may be capable of reproducing the effects described by victims of Havana Syndrome.

The US and UK are reducing the number of personnel at the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, as US President Donald Trump considers whether to take action against Iran over its crackdown on anti-government protests. Officials have told CBS, the BBC's US partner, that the partial American withdrawal was a "precautionary measure". The BBC understands some UK military personnel are also being removed. A Qatari government statement said the measures reportedly being taken by the US were "in response to the current regional tensions".

For the first time in 50 years, the U.S. experienced negative net migration in 2025 because of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal border crossings and heightened deportation efforts, an enormous victory for the White House as it faces renewed backlash against its heavy-handed enforcement tactics. The U.S. had net migration of -10,000 to -295,000 due to a combination of deportations, self-exits, and a significant drop in illegal immigration resulting from increased border security measures, according to a new Brookings Institution analysis. Those numbers represent a significant victory for President Trump,

One of the most maddening things about the mainstream media is their deliberate word choices in describing people or things that have happened or allegedly happened, with the goal of crafting a specific narrative, and usually one that lines up with leftist talking points on any given issue. We saw it, for instance, in many of the stories about illegal immigrant and suspected MS-13 gang member and accused domestic abuser Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whom the press often sympathetically referred to as a "Maryland father" in either the headlines, promos, or the opening paragraphs of their stories on his deportation to El Salvador

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump was consulting with his national security team Tuesday about next steps with Iran as he looked to get a better understanding of the number of Iranian citizens who have been killed and arrested in more than two weeks of unrest throughout the country. Trump said he believes that the killing is “significant” and that his administration would “act accordingly.” He added that he believed the Iranian government was “badly misbehaving.” But the president said he has yet to receive a confirmed number of Iranians killed in the protests that began late last month,

Minnesota residents of Somali descent and Hispanic heritage are suing President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to effectively shut down federal immigration enforcement across the state. On Thursday, the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), representing Somali immigrant Mubashir Khalif Hussen, Mahamed Eydarus, who is American and of Somali descent, and Javier Doe, a Hispanic American, filed suit against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and ICE Director Todd Lyons, among other agency officials. The lawsuit is asking a federal court to issue a statewide injunction to stop what it calls “unlawful policies and practices” being carried out by ICE agents, including allegations of racial profiling.

On Thursday afternoon, I wrote about how María Corina Machado visited the White House and had lunch with Donald Trump. While I was writing that article, some rumors were circulating about a big gesture she made, but I couldn't confirm them at the time. Now I can. The Venezuelan opposition leader, on behalf of her people, gave the president her Nobel Peace Prize. Not a replica. The real thing. Since the meeting was purposely kept private, I wasn't sure that a photo would surface, but one got out, and as of late Thursday night, both the White House and Machado have shared it on social media.

If Minnesota officials don’t like President Donald Trump’s threat to invoke the Insurrection Act, maybe they should do more to tamp down the insurrectionary activity in their state. After an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer was violently attacked by two illegal immigrants while making an arrest Wednesday night and shot one assailant in the leg in self-defense, anti-ICE activists — predictably enough — rioted. In response to the unprovoked attack on the officer, Mayor Jacob Frey once again blasted ICE. Imagine, he implored,

Canada’s globalist Prime Minister Mark Carney’s long-anticipated trip to Beijing appears to be marked by a striking pivot away from Canada’s traditional alliances and toward deeper engagement with Communist China. Claimed by Carney as a necessary adjustment to a “new world order,” the visit instead underscored Ottawa’s growing willingness to accommodate Beijing—and push away the United States—at a moment of geopolitical upheaval. The prime minister of America’s neighbor to the north gushed over Chinese President Xi Jinping, praising his “leadership” during public remarks—language that raised eyebrows both at home and abroad.

— U.S. President Donald Trump suggested Friday that he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the U.S. controlling Greenland, a message that came as a bipartisan Congressional delegation sought to lower tensions in the Danish capital. Trump for months has insisted that the U.S. should control Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of NATO ally Denmark, and said earlier this week that anything less than the Arctic island being in U.S. hands would be “unacceptable.” During an unrelated event at the White House about rural health care, he recounted Friday how he had threatened European allies with tariffs on pharmaceuticals.
