NYC taxpayers to shell out $200K for woke

New York fought the war to end slavery, but NYC taxpayers will be shelling out more than $200,000 for woke community groups to talk about reparations. The taxpayer dough will be steered to select organizations who’ll collaborate with the NYC Commission on Racial Equity to develop “recommendations for repair, collect truth testimony from New Yorkers, and work with researchers leading a NYC Study on Reparations,” 160 years after the Civil War ended. “The launch of this application represents another major step in the fight for reparations here in New York City,” gushed CORE Chair and Executive Director Linda Tigani Thursday

NY had slaves for a few years but they found it not practical. Slaves were mostly working farms and the growing season in that area is not long enough to support slaves. NY can be very noble about all this but they were the slave traders. Anyway slavery has been illegal for more than 150 years and it is time to stop this nonsense. They need to spend their money on cleaning up the streets.

The Indian retard from Uganda, who knows NOTHING about OUR American history as yet, but only what his Communist mentors keep whispering in his ear, should first find out from competent legal counsel if anything like what he is proposing is even remotely possible under our U;S. As long as it's NYC money and no tax money (ours) from the feds like federal grants etc. The official figure for Union soldiers' deaths in the Civil War is 360,000. I have ancestors on both sides. Shouldn't the descendants get some of that free money for helping to end slavery. Reparations for the Union soldiers' descendants? NYC went broke under Mayor Abe Beame and had to beg for a bailout. Looks like they are headed that way again. But, as #1 posts, it's just theft by another name and will fatten a few grifter's wallets.

And what about slaves kept by freed blacks? Case in point, there was a freed black man in Louisiana who, at one point, owned over 100 black slaves on his own vast Plantation. I'll bet not even 1 in 100 Americans know that freed blacks, even American Indians (the non-"dot" type), owned slaves. Native American owned descendants get continuing "reparations" in the form of tribal payouts resulting from gambling casinos and oil & gas revenues on tribal land. They're the real winners for sure... and all they had to do was be born.

Another attempt to extort money from people who never owned slaves to give to people who never were slaves. Anyone who was born before slavery ended in the United States in 1864 would be at least 161 years old. And, none of the $200,000 to do yet another study would go toward reparations. It is all a scam. The reparations ship sailed long ago.

Biden's Department of Education framed the National Parents and Families Engagement Council as a coalition meant to reflect a wide range of parent voices during the post-COVID recovery. “The National Parents and Families Engagement Council will help ensure recovery efforts meet students’ needs.” The internal emails, "obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the U.S. Department of Education (ED)," tell a different story. In 2022, California Gov. Gavin Newsom broke ground on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing (WAWC), a project featuring an overpass for animals atop ten lanes of the 101 Freeway in Southern California. At the ceremony, Newsom boasted that the state had committed $54 million. He promised to “complete the job within another $10 million,” before seeming to hedge on whether that final sum would do the trick. Officials projected a 2025 completion date for the overpass, and estimated that the entire project — which includes the bridge and other ancillary developments — would cost $92 million, some of it coming from private philanthropists.
