Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai was found guilty Monday of violating Chinese national security laws, the culmination of a years-long effort on the part of the Chinese Communist Party to punish Lai for his staunch pro-democracy activism. Lai was convicted of conspiracy to collude with a foreign country to endanger national security and conspiracy to publish seditious publications. He previously pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. Following a wave of pro-democracy protests in 2019, Beijing rolled back many of the freedoms Hong Kong citizens were promised after China retook the city in 1997,

The two gunmen who opened fire on Australia’s Bondi Beach, where thousands of Jews were celebrating Hanukkah, are believed to be a father-son duo who had a trove of legally owned guns, authorities said. Naveed Akram, 24, and his 50-year-old father, Sajid, allegedly stormed the family-friendly Chanukah by the Sea event armed with shotguns and a bolt-action rifle, killing at least 15 and injuring 40 more in Sunday’s terror attack on Sydney’s world-famous beach, New South Wales police announced Monday.
Mangling the English language replies

A recent Washington Post article about a trans comedian starts out with the following passage,As far as questions go, this is an easy one. What have you done before?’ the judge asks Jamie Mack. (Snip) I got that far into it when I had to ask myself what just happened. Then, I realized that the author had just mobilized the English language to confound me. As a good liberal and Washington Post reporter, he was doing what is expected of him. Modern leftist etiquette dictates that we should all mangle the English language to comply with the needs of a transvestite; he was now called a “they.” The story that the author recounts is typical. It is one of a closeted q**** having dalliances with other closeted

Pity the left because it had a terrible couple of days as it had to grapple with a tragedy, the tragedy being that the murders at Brown University that they were trying to leverage to disarm us so that we could be enslaved were overshadowed by their Gaza-loving jihadi allies going on a videotaped murder spree in Australia. Don’t imagine that they care about some dead kids at a college because they don’t care about that any more than they care about women being beaten, raped, and murdered on the streets of blue American cities by their illegal alien and/or criminal friends.

The California State Auditor published a scalding report Friday that is an unvarnished indictment of Governor Gavin Newsom and his administration. The report should have everyone living in California horrified. The Auditor's report finds Gavin Newsom while in his final year as governor, has upended the state's financial structure, compromised public safety, and left the state's infrastructure in far worse condition. (snip) The auditor did not pull any punches, warning that the state is headed toward much worse economic and infrastructure trouble. The next governor will be saddled with Gavin Newsom's statewide catastrophe.

The White House paid tribute to Ella Cook, the college Republican leader named as one of the student victims in the Brown University shooting. "There are no words," said Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a post on X. "Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents. God please bless them." Cook was one of the two people killed after a gunman opened fire in the university’s engineering building during final exams on the Ivy League campus in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon. Nine others were injured.

A top Republican Senator has provided Just the News a timeline written by FBI investigators laying out the repeated obstruction those agents faced from their own bosses and the Justice Department during the 2016 election and beyond as they probed whether Hillary Clinton engaged in a pay-to-play corruption scheme involving her family foundation. "Field agents were frustrated. But HQ will not let it go forward," the newly-released and lengthy investigative timeline reveals. "We were trying to review the [Clinton] Foundation, and we were told 'NO' by FBI HQ."

Americans mostly trust the nation’s highest court to do what’s best, presumably by scrupulously following the laws enshrined in the 238-year-old U.S. Constitution. But that trust could be tested in coming months, as the Supreme Court decides whether President Donald Trump’s tariffs pass constitutional muster, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. When U.S. Supreme Court Justices are sworn in to office, they vow to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” With this in mind, the I&I/TIPP Poll this month asked voters simply:
Why Is Mayorkas Seemingly Getting a Pass? replies

If a single person from the Biden administration deserves sustained scrutiny, Alejandro Mayorkas sits at the top of the list. As Secretary of Homeland Security, he presided over the most chaotic period at the southern border in modern American history. It's not even close. There were record crossings, overwhelmed cities, and steeply climbing fentanyl deaths, thriving cartels, all with governors begging for help. Yet as the Trump administration continues to settle back in power, Mayorkas has barely been mentioned: When was the last time you heard his name mentioned? Silence follows a man whose fingerprints are all over a still-broken — but rapidly repairing — system.

Chaos reportedly erupted in Amsterdam late Sunday night as masked attackers stormed a Hanukkah concert, sending concertgoers into panic. The assault comes just hours after a deadly assault on Bondi Beach (Australia), where over 15 Jews have been killed during a Hanukkah event. Eyewitnesses described terrified attendees fleeing the venue as security forces arrived to secure the area. “This is an appalling attack on innocent people celebrating their faith,” said one member of the public who witnessed the event. Emergency services were reportedly on site to assist those affected, so far no deaths have been reported.

ICE Baltimore arrested Kevin Alexis Mendez-Ortiz on Nov. 25, during a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Oxon Hill. Mendez is a criminal, illegal alien from Honduras, who recently caused a head-on collision in Prince George’s County that sent a U.S. citizen to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Federal immigration officers have arrested more than 400 illegal aliens — including convicted pedophiles, rapists, and violent offenders — during Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, a crackdown officials say was necessary after state and local sanctuary policies allowed dangerous criminals to roam free. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin blasted Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for “failing to protect the people of Minnesota.” “ICE law enforcement officers have arrested more than 400 illegal aliens including pedophiles, rapists, and violent thugs since Operation Metro Surge began,” said McLaughlin. “Tim Walz and Jacob Frey failed to protect the people of Minnesota.

At the end of October, the center-left group WelcomePAC published Deciding to Win, a comprehensive exploration of why Democrats lost the 2024 election and what they must do to start winning again. It drew on surveys of more than 500,000 voters conducted over a six-month period and found that 70 percent of voters think the Democratic Party is “out of touch” and only 39 percent say the party has the “right priorities.” It recommended that the party moderate its most unpopular positions, avoid ideological purity tests, and offer genuine solutions to issues the voters actually care about.

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said the Brown University shooting was a result of President Donald Trump’s “dizzying campaign to increase violence in this country.” Murphy said, “If you look at states like Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, California that have stronger laws, we have gun violence rates, murder rates, mass shooting rates that are two to 3 to 4 times lower than states that have loose gun laws. And many of the weapons that are used in our states for gun crimes come to our states from those states that have an ability for criminals and people with serious mental illness to buy weapons.
