Providence, R.I. - The federal judge who ordered President Trump to continue paying food-stamp benefits owes his fortune to cigarettes and Democratic political ties forged in Rhode Island. During the confirmation process in 2011, U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell Jr. disclosed that he would collect $2.5 million to $3.5 million per year in fees through 2024 for his role in helping to negotiate the $240 million national tobacco settlement in 1998.

Comments:

An informative and apparently objective article about one of President Obama's most controversial appointees to the federal bench.

There are half a dozen rogue left wing 0bama/Biden appointees who have hijacked the Federal government and running it contrary to the wishes of 78 million citizens expressed last November. This is serious business. We must demand SCOTUS either s*** or get off the pot!

Shel Whitehouse involved. Should tell us a lot. Married to daughter of judge. Incestuous RI. FTA: "He won the potentially lucrative job with the help of Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, then Rhode Island Attorney General. Whitehouse had good reason to help out: McConnell had long been treasurer of the Rhode Island Democratic State Committee as well as a heavy contributor to the party, according to campaign finance records and a 2020 investigation by Roll Call. McConnell and his wife contributed more than $700,000 to Democratic causes up until he joined the federal bench, Roll Call reported."

When this was being reported by the MSM they seemed to have failed to add the nugget of how connected this "judge" was in this whole scheme being employed to stop and slow Trump administration any way possible. You know if the shoe was on the other foot the MSM would have thoroughly explained any connection.

Recent classified documents indicate that people close to former FBI Director James Comey and Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff were connected to leaks of classified information to prominent reporters designed to portray Donald Trump and his allies as being in league with Russia. Written in 2017, the FBI documents expose how selected Washington reporters, including Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post and Michael Schmidt of the New York Times, scored a series of Pulitzer Prize-winning scoops in 2017 by repeating false and inflammatory leaks during President Trump's first term.

The biggest development coming out of Charlie Kirk's murder last week is that this time the gun isn't to blame. This time, "social media" did it. On Sunday, the New York Times published an idiotic op-ed to that effect by Nathan Taylor Pemberton, who "writes about extremism," and whose last article for The Nation was presciently titled: "Why The Right Fantasizes About Death and Destruction." So we know he's a fair broker.

How else can one explain why the Republican majority is continuing the blockade Reid initiated back in 2007 to prevent a Republican President (George W. Bush) from using recess appointments to get around the various roadblocks Reid put in place to delay confirming Bush's nominees?

The Democrats are now implacably self-destructive. They resemble nothing so much as a slowly capsizing ship, but show by their frenzied skullduggery that America is not in decline -- the opposition is rotten and hopeless but it still fights savagely. I hope readers will pardon a recitation of the party's gradual floundering. They pushed the nation into Vietnam, mismanaged the war, and deserted their own president (Lyndon Johnson), and when President Nixon saved their war, they crucified him on what can now be seen as the utterly absurd Watergate nonsense.

A longtime aide to former President Joe Biden admitted that the White House staff felt justified doing 'undemocratic things' because they believed President Donald Trump posed an existential threat to American democracy. The revelation came during an appearance by Axios reporter Alex Thompson on “Fox News Sunday” with Shannon Bream, where he discussed insider accounts from his reporting on the Biden administration. Thompson described a mindset inside the White House — one in which unelected aides saw themselves as the real decision makers while shielding Biden from scrutiny and managing the presidency behind the scenes

With the election of Zohran Mamdani as Mayor of New York, much conversation has been made of his appeal to “affordability.” As I’ve written previously, this is a noble conversation, but one that has been dishonestly framed (by Democrats and media) to date. [snip] First let’s look at the role that government has already played and its effect on affordability. What areas in the economy have seen the greatest increase in costs for the consumer? Education, housing, healthcare, and food. ronically, these are all areas of the economy that the government has interjected itself in the form of subsidies, regulations, government-backed loans, and transfer payments.

As awful as the mayoral election outcome was for sensible New Yorkers, misguided Washington Republicans plan to use the results as a club to further punish the city. If they succeed in hitting Gotham with enormous financial penalties for electing socialist radical Zohran Mamdani, the GOP wackos will end up penalizing all 8 million New Yorkers, including the 1 million who rejected Mamdani to vote for other candidates. The efforts also could turn Mamdani into a martyr, which would boost his popularity and inspire far-leftist copycat candidates across America. Another unintended consequence of the daffy congressional effort could be the death of the election chances of one of their own.

Target wants its employees to spread some holiday cheer — whether they like it or not, according to a report. The Minneapolis-based retailer issued a new directive mandating in-store workers smile and make eye contact and either greet or wave to any shopper that comes within 10 feet, according to Bloomberg News. If a customer steps within four feet, then the service rep is instructed to ask whether they need help or how their day is going, the new guidance said. Major retailers like Walmart and Disney have long used similar customer-greeting rules that require employees to smile, make eye contact and offer assistance when guests come within a set distance.

Perhaps the greatest fallacy of the whole "our diversity is our strength" nonsense is the idea that people from Third World, or even post-Stone Age, low-trust societies can successfully set aside their culture and upbringing to function as members of a modern nation where their neighbor is a fellow citizen and not prey. A disastrous shutdown for Democrats got worse Sunday when Senate Democrats folded on government funding while receiving nothing of substance in return. Eight Senate Democrats voted with 42 Republicans Sunday night on a procedural vote to allow a continuing resolution (CR) funding the government to advance. The motion passed 60 to 40, without a single vote to spare, and will enable a future vote on a clean continuing resolution through January 30, 2026, packaged with three relatively non-controversial appropriations bills extending through the fiscal year: agriculture, military construction-Veterans Affairs, and legislative branch.
