A 2,500-foot bridge partially collapsed in China following a landslide on the mountain where it was built.
The Hongqi Bridge was only just completed earlier this year.
It was part of a highway that links Sichuan and the nation’s heartland with Tibet
Harrowing video of the incident shows the landslide pounding rubble onto the bridge, with the span collapsing under the weight and impact.[snip]
The Hongqi bridge was completed earlier this year to create an easier connection between Sichuan and the Tibetan Plateau.

A bloody brawl broke out at a sold-out event for Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA at the University of California, Berkeley — with keffiyeh-clad protesters clashing with attendees and cops in disturbing scenes.
One man could be seen with blood gushing from his face after getting into a fight with an agitator as the campus event for the group was kicking off late Monday, Fox News reported.
Police were spotted pulling the two men apart as anti-Turning Point demonstrators – including some donning keffiyehs – tried to intervene.
At least two people had already been arrested, including one for battery, before the event got underway, police said.

Perhaps the greatest fallacy of the whole "our diversity is our strength" nonsense is the idea that people from Third World, or even post-Stone Age, low-trust societies can successfully set aside their culture and upbringing to function as members of a modern nation where their neighbor is a fellow citizen and not prey. Once upon a time, our education system was at least as devoted to developing citizens as it was to gender pronouns. Teachers took kids from rural Sicily, Jews from the ghettos of Poland and Russia, the kids of sharecroppers and coal miners; in fact, they took all comers and turned them into Americans

Target wants its employees to spread some holiday cheer — whether they like it or not, according to a report.
The Minneapolis-based retailer issued a new directive mandating in-store workers smile and make eye contact and either greet or wave to any shopper that comes within 10 feet, according to Bloomberg News.
If a customer steps within four feet, then the service rep is instructed to ask whether they need help or how their day is going, the new guidance said.
Major retailers like Walmart and Disney have long used similar customer-greeting rules that require employees to smile, make eye contact and offer assistance when guests come within a set distance.

Thanks to the good work of Blaze Media’s Steve Baker, we now have a plausible suspect in the January 6 pipe bomb plot, a former Capitol Police officer and reportedly a current CIA associate by the name of Shaun Rae Kerkhoff.
“While nothing is 100% certain and everyone is innocent until proven guilty,” Baker posted on X, “gait recognition software identified a 94% match. Video proximity tracking and human analysis by federal intel sources take it to what I’m told is a 96-98% certainty.” [snip] the conspirators did not anticipate Harris being at the DNC. Her presence there complicated everything.

Hundreds of millions of smartphone users are now subject to porn bans and restrictions, as legislators in the U.S. and Europe either block adult websites completely or mandate identity and age verification checks on users accessing content.
This plays into a fundamental misunderstanding of the way the global internet works. It also has drastic, long-term implications for the freedom of millions. And there are serious short-term threats as well, which has prompted a new Google warning.
Whilst multiple U.S. states have enacted porn bans of various flavors, it is the U.K. that could be the trigger point for a more fundamental change to internet freedoms.

The Left loves to tell us we have to listen to people's "lived experiences" to understand and respect them. That's all well and good, but they also want to make those "lived experiences" the basis for laws and often stripping people of their rights (including the right to free speech).
But when those "lived experiences" don't support the Left's narrative, they ignore them. Like this man, who grew up behind the Iron Curtain. One line from New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s victory speech Tuesday seemed to epitomize the egalitarian socialist bent of his successful campaign to many.
“Thank you to those so often forgotten by the politics of our city, who made this movement their own,” he said. “I speak of Yemeni bodega owners and Mexican abuelas. Senegalese taxi drivers and Uzbek nurses. Trinidadian line cooks and Ethiopian aunties. Yes, aunties.” [snip]
Whatever the case, it didn’t take long for the privileged son of academics to prove that the whole prolier-than-thou act was indeed an act and decamp to the Caribbean for a liberal junket.

While Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has gotten the lion’s share of the media attention these last several weeks, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg quietly sailed through his reelection bid, securing more than 70% of the vote.
Bragg’s win reflects a bucking of what some might have been tempted to call a national trend of so-called “progressive” prosecutors around the country being made to suffer the electoral consequences of going soft on crime.
Recent examples include LA’s George Gascón, Oakland’s Pamela Price, San Francisco’s Chesa Boudin, and Athens, Ga.’s Deborah Gonzalez, defeated in the wake of Laken Riley’s murder.

Lefty luminary Van Jones was among those raising alarm at Democratic socialist mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s rage-filled victory speech, noting his instant “character switch” at winning power.
A roaring Mamdani wasted no time in claiming a mandate for his potentially budget-busting progressive agenda and taunting President Trump as he rallied his fired-up supporters soon after winning Tuesday night.
Jones was quick to note live on CNN that the 34-year-old’s triumphant demeanor was a far cry from the cool, calm and collected candidate seen on the campaign trail.
“I think he missed an opportunity.

This summer the Pacific Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit to end a scholarship available to University of California Sand Diego (UCSD) students. The group sued on behalf of a student named Kai Peters who was a UCSD student but who was not eligible to apply for the scholarship because he is white.
The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund (BASF) awards up to $10,000 to students who maintain a 2.7 GPA and participate in various programs like student mentoring. Kai would gladly participate, but the program is exclusive to black students. He is white, and therefore ineligible.

Voting machines went down in three districts of New Jersey early Tuesday, which is Election Day, according to Early Vote Action’s Scott Presler.
Just before 8:00 a.m., Presler reported via X that three red districts in Cumberland County saw their machines go down.
“In 3 RED districts in Cumberland County, NJ, the machines are down. On the phone w/ legal right now,” he wrote: Other conservatives on the social media platform highlighted the news and urged people not to skip out on voting.
“Election machines have gone down in multiple locations across CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ – where Republicans are outperforming their 2024 turnout by double digits, Scott Presler says. Isn’t that suspicious.
