The Heritage Foundation’s Meltdown

Original Article

Is there anything left to say about the Heritage Foundation’s pre-Halloween melodrama? It was quite a scary show. I am confident that when Kevin Roberts, president of that venerable bastion of conservatism, got outside his morning egg on October 30, he had no inkling that his two-minute and thirty-nine-second video clip would precipitate a seismic detonation that would rock the foundation and monopolize the news cycle for days. The main purpose of the video, Roberts said, was to reaffirm that the commentator Tucker Carlson “remains and always will be a close friend of the Heritage Foundation.” This came on the heels of Carlson’s long interview with Nick Fuentes, the obnoxious twenty-seven-year-old

I think we can all agree Kevin Roberts should retreat to his cave in whatever locale from which he emerged. His version of "Roberts rules of Order " stink. Tucker seems to have joined Candace on the best forgotten side of Silly... (or evil)

I didn't listen to the interview, but how are we to know what Nick Fuentes thinks and says outside the media unless we hear what he says with the media. The problem of censorship is that it doesn't allow more rational minds to respond...and educate. It bottles up options for thinking, which big government doesn't want among the populace.

I don’t agree with #1 that Kevin Roberts should hide himself away. I agree with the remarks he made in the video embedded within this article. Yes, Nick Fuentes is vile but throwing those who highlight his malevolence, such as Tucker did, under the bus is ridiculous and counterproductive.

How will anyone know the “emperor is naked” if he is hidden within his castle walls? All his serfs say he’s clothed in the finest finery!(alphabet media). But if someone sets up a parade to shine light on the emperor (Tucker ) everyone starts shrieking “ how dare you show a naked man” and cry for the light shiner to be crucufied. Yikes we are chicken little. Well, not me. Christian’s, read your Bible 2 Tim 2:15 and stop being lemmings and grunions for God. We are the sheep of His pasture, God, not those around us even your pastor, they are but men. Speak the truth in love, Tucker and Candace are confused on some of beliefs so we should stone them? What facet of Christ are you shining? Present scripture to them and theyhe choose not to listen, knock the dust off your shoes. How big is your God that you need to defend Him? Who did Jesus die for ? We are to be salt and light not seasoned salt. Educate those around you and for Gods sake do not jump on the Spanish Inquisition train of thou shalt speak MAGA. Yikes.Read your Bible and pray every single day. IMHO

The election of socialist Zorhan Mamdani as mayor is unleashing a toxic sludge of unsavory characters poised to seize seats of prestige at City Hall. These real powers behind the throne are putting the mayor-elect on notice: Toe the Jew- and America-hating line, or we’ll make life very difficult. At Mamdani’s official swearing-in, set for just after midnight on New Year’s Day, it’s we in the cheap seats who are going to suffer hangovers. He said this would mark a new era of free stuff for everyone. Free buses. Free groceries. Free child care. More prostitutes.

The wheels are coming off the socialist bus. Gov. Kathy Hochul slammed the brakes on supporting Zohran Mamdani’s $700 million call for free city buses — casting doubt that one of the far-left mayor-elect’s signature campaign promises has a smooth road ahead. Hochul, speaking during a press conference at the SOMOS political retreat in Puerto Rico on Saturday, argued she has already put vast sums of money into the perpetually cash-strapped MTA for major projects. “We’re spending a lot of money, so I cannot set forth a plan right now that takes money out of a system that relies on the fares of the buses and the subways,” she said.

A disastrous shutdown for Democrats got worse Sunday when Senate Democrats folded on government funding while receiving nothing of substance in return. Eight Senate Democrats voted with 42 Republicans Sunday night on a procedural vote to allow a continuing resolution (CR) funding the government to advance. The motion passed 60 to 40, without a single vote to spare, and will enable a future vote on a clean continuing resolution through January 30, 2026, packaged with three relatively non-controversial appropriations bills extending through the fiscal year: agriculture, military construction-Veterans Affairs, and legislative branch.

California has the trendiest, and most foolish, energy policies in the U.S. The result is a return to the early ’70s, when drivers lined up around the block, hoping and praying the gasoline wouldn’t run out before they got to the pumps. “California’s oil industry now sits at the precipice of complete collapse,” says Edward Ring, director of water and energy policy at the California Policy Center, “and if that happens, more imports will not prevent lines at the pumps.” How could California, which has the sixth most proved crude reserves in the country, be looking over the edge of a gasoline crisis?

A group of shutdown-weary Democratic senators voted with Republicans Sunday night to advance a legislative vehicle to reopen the federal government and end the 40-day shutdown that has left tens of thousands of workers furloughed and caused chaos at the nation’s airports. The Senate voted 60-40 to proceed to a House-passed continuing resolution to reopen the government, taking a big first step toward ending the shutdown after a group of centrist Democrats negotiated a funding deal with Senate Republican colleagues and the White House.

The head of the BBC and the British broadcaster’s top news executive both resigned Sunday after criticism of the way the organization edited a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump. The BBC said Director-General Tim Davie and news CEO Deborah Turness had both decided to leave the corporation. Britain’s publicly funded national broadcaster has been criticized for editing a speech Trump made on Jan. 6, 2021, before protesters attacked the Capitol in Washington. Critics said the way the speech was edited for a BBC documentary last year was misleading and cut out a section where Trump said he wanted supporters to demonstrate peacefully.

The Senate advanced a bipartisan deal late Sunday to end the record-breaking government shutdown, overcoming the biggest procedural hang-up that has been used to keep Uncle Sam’s lights off for the past 40 days. In a 60-40 vote — with eight Democratic-leaning senators joining Republicans — the Senate invoked cloture to break the filibuster and move forward with a bipartisan spending patch to fund the government through Jan. 30, 2026, as well as a “minibus” package that will fully restore food stamp benefits.

There's no escape route for those of us who don't want the government to take everything from us, up to and including our guns, which is why so many of us have a line in the sand that cannot be crossed. And I don't see there being anywhere to go anytime soon. Too many other nations that are supposedly free really aren't, and the trend internationally is for more regulation of everything and a complete and total lack of gun rights.

If corruption could flourish under nominal Iraqi government control, imagine the diversion potential in Gaza — where much of the terror regime remains intact. Earlier UN experiments, such as the Oil-for-Food scandal, showed how -- when oversight is weak and politics trumps accountability -- "humanitarian" programs become self-enriching rackets. For years, Hamas forces have been filmed confiscating relief shipments directly from UN trucks and warehouses. It is not chaos; it is a business model.

[snip] First let’s look at the role that government has already played and its effect on affordability. What areas in the economy have seen the greatest increase in costs for the consumer? Education, housing, healthcare, and food. ronically, these are all areas of the economy that the government has interjected itself in the form of subsidies, regulations, government-backed loans, and transfer payments.

As awful as the mayoral election outcome was for sensible New Yorkers, misguided Washington Republicans plan to use the results as a club to further punish the city. If they succeed in hitting Gotham with enormous financial penalties for electing socialist radical Zohran Mamdani, the GOP wackos will end up penalizing all 8 million New Yorkers, including the 1 million who rejected Mamdani to vote for other candidates. The efforts also could turn Mamdani into a martyr, which would boost his popularity and inspire far-leftist copycat candidates across America. Another unintended consequence of the daffy congressional effort could be the death of the election chances of one of their own.
