New Delhi:
North Korea announced Wednesday that it successfully launched multiple sea-to-surface cruise missiles into its western waters, just hours before US President Donald Trump’s arrival in South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju. The tests, conducted Tuesday, were described by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) as part of the regime’s ongoing effort to expand the “operational sphere” of its nuclear-armed military.
KCNA reported that the missiles flew for over two hours and “accurately struck their targets,” demonstrating what it called the “advanced precision” of North Korea’s new weapon systems.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates now says climate change “will not lead to humanity’s demise,” despite having spent years fearmongering over rising global temperatures.
Gates authored a surprising blog post on Monday advocating for climate activists to move away from the “doomsday outlook” they have spent years peddling.
“Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” wrote Gates, who has spent billions of dollars on climate-related initiatives. “People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.”

Top Biden administration officials misused executive authority and took actions without then-President Joe Biden’s authorization as his mental acuity declined, a House investigation found.
President Biden’s inner circle hid the extent of his mental decline from the American people and exercised executive authority by abusing the presidential autopen and taking advantage of a lax chain-of-command, according to a report released Tuesday by the House Oversight Committee.

BUENOS AIRES - Early results in Argentina's legislative elections on Sunday showed a landslide victory for President Javier Milei as voters overwhelmingly backed his free-market reforms and deep austerity measures, providing a strong boost for the libertarian leader to continue his economic overhaul.
The president's party, La Libertad Avanza, scored 41.5% of the vote in Buenos Aires province compared with 40.8% for the Peronist coalition, according to official results. The province has long been a political stronghold for the Peronists, marking a dramatic political shift

LOS ANGELES — June Lockhart, who became a mother figure for a generation of television viewers whether at home in “Lassie” or up in the stratosphere in “Lost in Space,” has died. She was 100.
Lockhart died Thursday of natural causes at her home in Santa Monica, family spokesman Lyle Gregory, a friend of 40 years, said Saturday.
“She was very happy up until the very end, reading the New York Times and LA Times everyday,” he said. “It was very important to her to stay focused on the news of the day.”

Barring something cataclysmic, Zohran Mamdani is going to be the next mayor of New York City, and he's beginning to realize that. It's difficult to say the mask was ever truly on with the 33-year-old communist nepo baby that has never held a real job, but with his latest moves, every bit of pretense is now dropping to the side.
After all, why should he care about maintaining broad appeal when he's running in one of the most left-wing cities in the country, whose voters seem more than content to hand him the keys no matter what radical positions he takes? Understand that this goes beyond

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused President Donald Trump of pushing for war against his country just a day after the Pentagon confirmed it had dispatched the world’s largest aircraft carrier to the region.
In a national broadcast on Friday night, Maduro accused Trump of "fabricating a new eternal war" against Venezuela.
"They promised they would never again get involved in a war and they are fabricating a war that we will avoid," said Maduro. "They are fabricating an extravagant narrative, a vulgar, criminal and totally fake one.” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Friday that the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford, the largest aircraft carrier in the world, was being deployed to “dismantle

President Donald Trump participated in a phone interview with TIME at the White House on Oct. 15.
Over the course of the interview, Trump discussed in detail how the ceasefire in Gaza came together and his view on where the region goes from here.
Here's what Trump told TIME Senior Political Correspondent Eric Cortellessa.
TIME: I want to start off by asking what do we not know about the behind-the-scenes events that led to this agreement? What were the turning points and key moments?
Well, you know, you have 3,000 years of history, and in the case of the Middle East, there’s tremendous hatred, there's tremendous dislike, there's tremendous distrust among everybody.

A mystery donor whose $130 million contribution is meant to pay U.S. military troops during the government shutdown is Timothy Mellon, an heir to a renowned Gilded Age banking family, The New York Times reported Saturday.
But Mellon’s donation works out to only about $100 per service member. It costs nearly $6.4 billion to pay U.S. troops every two weeks.
And using his money might run afoul of federal law, according to the Times, which cited two people familiar with the matter in identifying the billionaire railroad magnate as the donor.
When President Donald Trump announced the donation at the White House on Thursday, he did not name the man’s identity,

We're on the 24th day of the Schumer Shutdown, and the Democrats are continuing to vote against opening the government.
But the Democrats are sending their people out to spin things as best they can. It is not going well for them.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) appeared on CNBC, where he was crushed by the facts. This was priceless as host Becky Quick nuked the Democrats' argument on Obamacare subsidies. What you're asking Republicans to do when they control the White House, Senate, and House is effectively what the Democrats could not do when they controlled all 3 of those heads of government themselves. During an obligatory discussion about the second-longest government shutdown in U.S. history, Morning Joe guest and Politico columnist Jonathan Martin admitted on Wednesday that Democrats were holding out in defiance of President Trump while using health care as a “vehicle.” Trump hosted Senate Republicans for lunch at the White House on Tuesday, indicating a united Republican front. Martin was asked by MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle about Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s (R-SD) role in the budget mishap, to which he answered by explaining the issue that had plagued Republican effort
