Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth begin.
Within the first two weeks of the ongoing government shutdown, agency heads reportedly sent permanent layoff notices to about 4,000 federal employees under the guidance of Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russ Vought. But compared to the private sector, this is a proverbial drop in the bucket.
The partial lapse in government funding has dragged on for 27 days now as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and 44 other senators continue to block the “clean” government funding measure that the House passed in September. As a result of the funding lapse, Vought says that 10,000 federal employees could ultimately

A group of left-wing congresswomen enjoyed some fun in the sun during a glitzy junket to the U.S. Virgin Islands in June—with donors picking up the check—records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show.
Among the attendees of the "Women's Retreat Weekend" at the Westin St. Thomas Beach were OG squad members like Reps. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) and Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.), as well as rising progressive stars like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., Texas). A flyer for the event also shows Reps. Yvette Clarke (D., N.Y.), Valerie Foushee (D., N.C.), Lucy McBath (D., Ga.), and Emilia Sykes (D., Ohio) as attendees, though representatives for Foushee told

AT&T has quietly expanded its foreign workforce while securing a multimillion-dollar federal contract intended to bolster U.S. national security infrastructure.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded AT&T a 10-year, $146 million contract last year to maintain and expand emergency communications systems such as the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service and Wireless Priority Service, according to a September 2024 company press release. The award extends AT&T’s long-running partnership with DHS into next-generation 5G networks.
At the same time, federal immigration data shows the telecom giant has continued to rely on foreign labor. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) H-1B Data Hub, 388 H-1B workers were approved

For two generations, Bob’s family didn’t just work for FedEx; they were a part of the Collierville community that the company built. His father, a Collierville native, retired as a respected FedEx pilot. Bob followed him into the company, securing a white-collar technical role and the promise of the same stable, prosperous life in the town Parade magazine once named “Best Main Street” in America.
He remembers a different Collierville. A town of just over 10,000, where kids left their bikes unlocked outside the gas station and a trip to the store always meant running into someone you knew. “It was the type of community where…

While the government remains shut down because Democrats demand free healthcare for illegal immigrants, President Trump has ordered a sweeping audit of federal programs to ensure that other taxpayer-funded benefits are not being distributed to illegal aliens.
The order encompasses at least 28 major programs across multiple federal agencies. Housing audits include the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and public housing.
The Department of Health and Human Services is reviewing 13 programs, including Head Start, Community Health Centers, Medicaid, and the Title X Family Planning Program, as well as a range of behavioral health and substance abuse grants. Nutrition and welfare

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., Texas) owned stocks in at least 25 companies that she did not disclose to the public during her first congressional run in 2022, even though she'd quietly admitted to the holdings the previous year as a Texas state legislator. Crockett also didn't reveal the stock holdings once she got to Washington in 2023.
The far-left firebrand's impressive financial portfolio—according to records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon through a public records request—clashes with her image as an eco-warrior and beacon of progressivism. Further, Crockett, a self-described civil rights attorney, was an active stakeholder in the cannabis business—seeking unsuccessfully to open marijuana dispensaries in Ohio—even as she represented,

In another example of the Trump effect, money transfer giant Western Union is reporting that its revenue from cash transfers to locations outside the U.S. has seen a 12 percent decline this year.
Migrants living in the U.S. both legally and illegally have traditionally been the greatest source of U.S. dollars flowing out of America and into foreign nations, even dwarfing the amount of foreign aid lavished on the world by the U.S. government. But with Donald Trump’s focus on immigration, Western Union is seeing far fewer customers needing their services.
Last week, Western Union CEO Devin McGranahan told investors that the company had seen a huge decline in cash transfers to

The Washington Post editorial board praised President Trump’s controversial demolition of the East Wing of the White House.
“The White House cannot simply be a museum to the past. Like America, it must evolve with the times to maintain its greatness. Strong leaders reject calcification. In that way, Trump’s undertaking is a shot across the bow at NIMBYs everywhere,” the Post’s editorial board said in an opinion piece published Saturday. Destruction of the East Wing was completed last Thursday, with excavators first spotted the Monday before the demolition.

Lefty New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani says NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch will fall behind his vision for criminal-justice reforms, insisting that if he wins the race, “everyone will follow” his lead.
Speaking on the Hell Gate podcast Friday, Mamdani, 34, was confronted with concerns that Tisch would stand against the type of reforms the Democratic Socialist and his supporters are pushing for, given her previous positions.
“Lots of people who support your candidacy care about criminal-justice reform and reforming the NYPD, and for the past year, she has stood to thwart that,” host Christopher Robbins reminded Mamdani as the host asked for an explanation as to why the frontrunner said

Catherine Connolly, a pro-immigration self-avowed socialist running as an independent, won Ireland’s 2025 presidential election in a landslide Friday, defeating both of the nominees of the country’s two largest parties.
Connolly, 68, pulled in a massive 63.4% of votes, dwarfing the 29.5% received by Fine Gael nominee Heather Humphreys and the 7.2% won by Fianna Fáil nominee Jim Gavin. In her victory speech, the socialist promised to be “an inclusive president” multiple times and expressed her desire to “shape a new republic … that values and champions diversity … and the new people that have come to our country.”

Gun control in America’s northern neighbor has moved into confiscation phase, as Nova Scotia, Canada’s east coast province, kicked off a pilot program of “voluntary” gun buybacks in September, while the western provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan say they will not comply.
The national ban was originally decreed by then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government in 2020, covering 1,500 models of rifles, but has since been expanded to include more than 2,500 models. And while the ban is purported to cover “semi-automatic firearms with sustained rapid-fire capability,” the list of prohibited firearms also includes more traditional bolt-action rifles and shotguns commonly used in hunting.
