DOGE cuts $2.5M for New Mexico conservation

Original Article

Last month, the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced it had partnered with the Department of the Interior to cut $14 million worth of environmental grants, including $2.5 million for New Mexico. The Institute of Applied Ecology, based in both Oregon and here in New Mexico, is one of the organizations that had a large swath of its funding cut. “We work with native plant materials development,” said Katy Silbert, the assistant branch director of the institute’s southwestern branch. “Which means that we are collecting seeds from the wild to then grow those plants and put them back on the landscape.”

Comments:

So Public Radio isn't biased? Read the very first sentence, its just the beginning of an incredible biased article masquerading as news.

The DEI darlings add diversity requirements to get funding from the Left, but balk at removing those programs to get funding from the Right. Politically conditioned 'principles' penetrate even to the ostensibly-apolitical contractors.

Who is going to tell Katy Silbert, the Assistant Evironmental Wacko of the Institute of Applied Ecology Horse Manure that animals in the wild eat their precious plants and poop out the seeds thereby doing a much better job of spreading the plants throughout the landscape than she and her government funded morons could ever dream of doing. Someone has to to tell her the truth in very brutal terms.

I stopped reading when I saw "so-called" in the first sentence. That's an automatic red flag.

my educated guess, as a retired professor, but also a university grants administrator, is that there were graduate student/faculty research projects, which will most likely be reinstated upon appeal.

Unfortunately for him, there was a report put together of his wrongdoings while he was conspiring with Comey to remove President Trump from office. On April 14, 2019, The Gateway Pundit outlined the significant items in the Inspector General’s report on McCabe.

Today is a day of despair, and it would be futile to tell those who fear and grieve for what is to come in America that they will be OK. It would also be dishonest: many of us, in truth, will not be OK. Donald Trump has decisively won the American election. He and his Republican allies have promised mass deportations that will ruin lives and sunder families; they have threatened to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and appoint the anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F Kennedy Jr to a position of authority on public health. They have pledged vast cuts to social security and Medicare, .

Jack Smith has failed in his quest to try Donald Trump before the 2024 election. So instead, the Special Counsel has bent ordinary procedure to get in one last shot, just weeks before voters go to the polls. , Smith has now dropped a 165-page doorstop of a filing in federal court, on the issue of Trump’s immunity from prosecution. Judge Tanya Chutkan – who suddenly claims not to care about the impending election despite her earlier efforts to expedite the case to get it in before the very same election, which got her reversed and chastised by the Supreme Court – duly complied with Smith’s

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is planning to force a vote on directing the House Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest Attorney General Merrick Garland sometime this week. Luna is sending a letter around to fellow House Republicans on Monday arguing that the Department of Justice (DOJ) undermined Congress by refusing to act on the contempt resolution passed by the GOP majority earlier this month. "The only option to ensure compliance with our subpoena is to use our constitutional authority of inherent contempt," Luna said. "In the next few days, I will call up my resolution holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress, and I look forward to each of you voting

A previously censored paper from The Lancet has now undergone peer review and is available online. The study, titled “A Systematic Review of Autopsy Findings in Deaths After COVID-19 Vaccination,” analyzed 325 autopsy cases and found that a staggering 73.9% of deaths were either directly due to or significantly contributed to by the COVID-19 vaccination. The paper’s lead author, Dr. Nicolas Hulscher, faced significant opposition in bringing these findings to light. After initially being downloaded over 100,000 times, The Lancet removed the paper within 24 hours, according to Dr. William Makis.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — In-person classes have been canceled at a local charter school for the rest of the week after the roof of its new gym collapsed. School officials say the new gym at the Explore Academy middle and high school campus was basically complete. They were even planning on hosting a ribbon cutting Wednesday, but that’s been canceled, as well as all in-person classes. Parents learned about the collapse through an email from the school Sunday night. “The students are out the whole week now,” a parent told KOB 4 anonymously. “Because they have to get inspectors to gather and, at the request of the inspectors in particular,

The Trump administration says it is cancelling student debt for millions of borrowers — a pivot from its previous moves to block some loan forgiveness plans. In an agreement with the American Federation of Teachers, the White House will again start processing student loan forgiveness for eligible borrowers in two income-driven repayment plans – Income-Contingent Repayment and Pay as You Earn – until they expire. President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” is slated to phase out those two programs by July 1, 2028. They have over 2.5 million enrollees total, a higher ed expert estimated.

Here's a Newsweek headline on the project: "Behind Schedule, Over Budget, and Mired in Lawsuits."The local community was also unhappy with it or had concerns. One resident called it a "monstrosity," taking away from the beautiful area that once was there. So much for the feelings of the locals. Guess those got lost in the narcissism.

California Gov. The Los Angeles Times noted that “fine print” in a 254-page bill known as SB 254 — a massive bill compared to most state legislation — lets Southern California Edison and other utilities charge consumers for wildfire damage that exceeds $21 billion,[snip] The legislation has revived concerns about the fact that Newsom and other politicians in the state have taken large campaign contributions from the utilities.

Comey’s defense team filed a motion to dismiss Tuesday, arguing that the Trump administration’s false statements case is an unconstitutional abuse of power by the Trump administration. “Ample objective evidence—much of which comes directly from government officials’ own public statements and admissions—establishes that the government’s animus toward Mr. Comey led directly to this vindictive and selective prosecution,” Comey’s attorneys said in court papers. “The proper remedy for the government’s constitutional violations is a dismissal with prejudice.
