With violent crime unchecked in major American cities, President Donald Trump has moved to lower thefts, assaults and murders by providing federal help to besieged local police. How do Americans feel about this? They mostly favor local control, but don’t entirely reject federal involvement in local policing, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
September’s national online I&I/TIPP Poll asked 1,362 adults: “President Trump has moved to take control of the Washington, D.C., police. Do you mostly favor or mostly oppose the federal government running local police departments?”
Overall,

Wrong question.
Should have asked specifically about the Feds stepping in to failed out of control Dem run cities like DC and Chicago, not in general.
In general, no, not necessary. In the larger crime ridden DNC pits, yes of course theyre needed.

In general its the judges, zero bail and not the police that are the problem.

Los Angeles became a big Lib deal when NG was called in to protect the federal buildings in front of which the paid rioters were wreaking havoc. Lost was the LAPD police chief's public remark that they were "overwhelmed". His word.

The problem with these polls is that “most” Americans don’t know how law enforcement is structured throughout the USA. The reason that crimes involving immigration like mass illegal immigration and human trafficking across national and state borders is in the prevue of the Federal Government is that they are continuing offenses that are beyond the authority and jurisdiction of local and state law enforcement and sometimes even the USA.

The question has a bad pretence, "moved to take control" and erroneous wording. The FedGov is the local law enforcement for DC. They didn't take over running the police department. They took control of the streets, freeing up the police department. Word the question that way and see what your answer will be.

Let me guess - they did the poll in areas with very little crime.

The problem with this is when they elect a woke mayor you have very little law enforcement, we witness this all the time.

In general, I'm in agreement but that was before the Saint George Floyd mourners burnt down cities and blocked exits from police stations. What are the state guards for if not for civil unrest.

Yeah, the Feds are harder to buy off.

I am in complete agreement with the idea that local police should fight crime and that federal involvement should be limited. When the local government prevents the local police from doing so, the state government should step in. It is only when both the local government and the state government refuse to fight crime that the federal government should step in to maintain order.

When local police don't/won't/can't enforce the law, then it becomes the federal government's job.

That's the problem. The local police are being overwhelmed by the violence and cannot get it under control. Hence, the feds step in to overwhelm the thugs causing the violent crimes. What does it take to get through the thick heads of democrats. I mean children can't walk the streets without worry of being shot. How many innocent people, children have to be murdered before these idiots wake up.

Shouldn't law enforcement be conducted mostly by the level of government with authority over the particular laws? As Immigration management is constitutionally under Federal jurisdiction, it makes sense for the fed to be primary agency of enforcement..

Another "poll" designed to shape opinion rather than measure it.
Nuts.

The people who live in the war zone cities are the ones effected. Of course, those cities are run by Democrats (Democrat leadership = War Zone).
