Google Lied To Congress About Its Commitment

Last week, Google admitted to Congress that it served as the Biden administration’s censorship enforcer. Which is bad enough. But then it followed up this admission with a lie. In a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, the tech colossus said that under pressure from the administration, it silenced voices that were challenging Joe Biden’s COVID-19 policies. “Senior Biden administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the Company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19

"Google lied" is a great headline. It would have been better back in 2020-21. Why do I feel like someone left the barn door open and the horses got out.

This is almost all the proof you should need to break up the company since they have too much influence on speech. And it was common for ex-WH officials to leave and join Google (other tech companies too) and have some Google employees join the WH. Almost as if they had a plan all along and kept using this transfer scheme to enact it. Will still be interesting to see if they continue other means of shadow banning, minimizing search, etc... Remember, those algorithms are man made and designed to do what they want -- it's never an accident except when they get caught.

For years, we were told by government officials and outside “experts” that the terrorists in our midst were mostly right-wing fanatics – a list that under the Biden administration came to include parents who spoke up at local school board meetings and Catholics who like the Latin mass. But even the left is now admitting what everyone else already knows. Namely, that despite their constant bleating about tolerance and peace, it’s leftists who pose the greatest threat to Americans. This week, the Trump-hating Atlantic magazine published an article titled “Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise,” written by scholars at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

The California Legislature passed, and Gov. Gavin Newsom eagerly signed, a bill that forbids law enforcement officers from concealing their identities with masks. The law applies to local as well as federal officers, but it’s clearly intended to make it easier to dox federal immigration agents. Of course the administration says it will ignore the law. So what happens when local and state officers try to enforce it? A war? California also forbids federal agents from enforcing immigration law in state courthouses. Again, the potential for blue-on-blue violence is ramped up by a Democratic

With violent crime unchecked in major American cities, President Donald Trump has moved to lower thefts, assaults and murders by providing federal help to besieged local police. How do Americans feel about this? They mostly favor local control, but don’t entirely reject federal involvement in local policing, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. September’s national online I&I/TIPP Poll asked 1,362 adults: “President Trump has moved to take control of the Washington, D.C., police. Do you mostly favor or mostly oppose the federal government running local police departments?” Overall,

Perhaps Mark Ruffalo really does think he has an indestructible giant lurking inside his insufferable jerk exterior. After all, not long after he posted that on Threads, Disney executives reversed course and decided to put Jimmy Kimmel back on the air. But don’t expect Disney stock to suddenly bounce back, or subscriptions to Disney+ to surge. Mark Ruffalo is no Warren Buffett. Yes, Disney’s stock price had gone down 3% since last Wednesday, when the Disney-owned ABC gave Kimmel the boot. But so what? Disney stock plunged 38% after the company decided to step into the political swamp in early 2022

It’s been amusing to watch the left’s reaction to ABC giving the boot to Jimmy Kimmel. Not because of their rank hypocrisy when it comes to censorship. Or their claim that firing a low-rated late-night “comic” means “authoritarianism has arrived.” Or the fact that they are far more outraged that Kimmel lost his time slot than that Charlie Kirk lost his life over things they said. What’s most amusing is how blissfully ignorant they are about how the news and entertainment industry works these days. First, let’s dispense with the censorship ruse. ABC is a private company and is entitled

Given the national anguish and pain over the assassination of Charlie Kirk, you might think that the leftist big media would at least be treading softly right now, especially given the overwhelming evidence that’s already been made public about Kirk’s alleged assassin. But you would be wrong. We’ve already addressed the lies and exaggerations told about Kirk to somehow justify his murder. Now the left is trying to come up with a counter-narrative about his assassin. Kirk wasn’t murdered by an unhinged leftist; he was killed by a MAGA adherent. It’s a lie on stilts. Let’s start with what we know:

Almost as soon as Attorney General Pam Bondi said that federal law enforcement would target anyone for hate speech, she was backpedaling amid backlash from across the political spectrum. It was a rare and welcome instance where both sides of a deeply divided nation came to agree on something. But how long will it last? On a podcast, Bondi said, “There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society….We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.”

It’s safe to say that no one knew the scope of Charlie Kirk’s influence until after his death. What he was able to achieve on college campuses has no parallel. This country desperately needs someone who will do the same in our big cities. Charlie – we feel it’s more appropriate, more human to use his first name rather than his last last name, a traditional newspaper treatment that under the circumstances feels vulgar – was known for his argument that college was a scam. But his real contribution was challenging students to cast off the conditioning that has been imposed on

All last year, we were treated to a steady stream of stories about the “huge” and “baffling” gap between the public’s negative views about the economy and its “actual performance.” Our favorite “economist” Paul Krugman was apoplectic. “Why are so many Americans still telling pollsters that the economy is in bad shape” when “it’s hard to overstate just how good recent economic numbers have been.” Last week, the government issued two reports that explain why. And the reason is simple. The experts were wrong. The public was right. On Tuesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, after a string of glaring mistakes in its jobs

The assassination of Charlie Kirk was unlike anything any of us on the Issues & Insights editorial board have seen in our lifetimes. Kirk didn’t hold any political power. He wasn’t rich. He didn’t call for or incite violence. He was a young man of strong beliefs who enjoyed debating other young people on the big issues of the day. And for that, he was brutally murdered. You’d think this would cause even his fiercest critics to stop for a moment and take stock in what just happened. If only out of consideration for his wife and two young children.

By saying this, the rapper implied that his fan base is largely comprised of illegal aliens who streamed across the southern border. The Republic of Ireland will offer families of supposed asylum seekers up to €10,000 to drop their claims and voluntarily leave the country, in an apparent admission that the government’s open borders policies have gone too far. Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan has signed an order to increase the voluntary return grant for alleged asylum seekers, increasing the payout to €2,500 ($2,900) for individuals or €10,000 ($11,700) for families who willingly drop their asylum claims and leave the country, The Irish Times reports. This is nearly double the previous payouts, which stood at €1,500 ($1,800) per person or €6,000 ($7,000) per family, prior to the order from Minister O’Callaghan.

On Tuesday, more than 100,000 federal workers are expected to walk out the door through a deferred resignation program, marking the largest single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. Factor in layoffs, buyouts, early retirements, and natural attrition, and the government could shed roughly 275,000 employees by the end of 2025.
